+1 on Dr Lustiger's office. I don't see Paul Lustiger specifically, but the other dentist in his office. Top notch all the way.

If you are willing to take the train to Washington St. in Hoboken there is a Dr. Mussara (Hoboken Dental Associates) and he is very good and competent. I would suggest that you find out ahead of time (call) to see what insurance he does/does not take. I was always pleased with his work but unfortunately I don't have dental insurance so can't tell you what plans are accepted.

Does anyone know anything about Green Dental down on Greene and Montgomery?

It looks super nice but I can't seem to find a single person talking about them...good or bad.

If not, just looking for something in that area. Seems like there are more bad dentists than good ones in this area...so def need some help if you all have some to offer.

Does anyone have guardian dental dmo? If so, could you reccommend a dentist? All the great dentists mentioned here are not covered by my insurance. I hate just picking a random name from an insurance book.

I also recommened that you NOT go to Dr. Milman on Grand...My hubby went there for a cleaning...There was no hygienist and the doctor did a 5 minute cleaning....Not thorough at all...Also, the girl at the front desk misled my husband into thinking that the office took his insurance when in reality they did not participate with his insurance plan.

I hate the dentist and have had quite a few great ones, but never one so thorough, professional and comical to make it bearable like Dr.Schillinger. He is located just past journal square on Jewett and JFK. I have had great peace of mind with his work and don't loathe the idea of my next check-up. Its rare to get a medical professional with equal parts skill, technique and bed side manor. I would check him out. It took me six month to get the courage to call and make an appoinment, but I am glad I did. Here is his website: www.schillingerdental.com

I cannot recommend Newport Centre Dental. I had a root canal and a few cleanings, check ups, etc. done there in the past ~2yrs and the work was subpar. I was there most recently about 2 months ago for a routine check up (with x-rays) and was told i was cavity free and had no problems. About a month later i get a toothache and ended up going to another dental office for an emergency visit and was told I had a huge, infected abscess in a tooth that previously had root canal and crown work done by them. x-rays taken by my new dentist showed that the root canal work was not deep enough and had developed an infection which should have been caught by the x-rays newport dental took a month before and last fall when i had another set of x-rays taken.

I would definitely check out Dr. Grace at www.TheBayonneDentist.com. Don't worry, it's not far into Bayonne. She is so kind, great at what she does and she even does laser dentistry for the same price as regular (for cavities, root canals and gum issues.) I've been to her for many cavities with the laser, and we shot a video of it. If you go to www.LeahGuy.com, it's the second video on top. Amazing stuff and no pain, no shots, and only 5 minutes!!! I will never go anywhere else!

Hi,

I just moved back to Paulus Hook. Last time I was here, I never got around to finding a doctor or dentist in JC, I just went to my old one in NYC.

But now it seems I might be in JC longer, so does anyone have recommendations for good doctors and dentists in JC? Preferably within walking distance of Paulus Hook (or accessible by light rail or PATH - I don't have a car here).

Thanks!

Do not go to Dr. Milman on Grand Avenue. Dr. Milman told me that I needed four root canals in 2004. I was hesitant to have the procedures done as I had been going to regular checkups prior to moving to JC and hadn't been having any issues. I went to another dentist and did not have any cavities. You do the math.

I highly recommend Dr. Bo Seok at 3285 John F Kennedy Blvd, Jersey City. He's a bright young guy from the University of Pennsylvania dental school who interned at Columbia Presbyterian. He's done a number of root canals and crowns for me with no pain or complications. He takes all insurance and is willing to work with you on fees.

Hi,

We're looking for a Pediatric Dentist around downtown JC or even Hoboken. Seems like they're kind of tough to find around here. Does anyone have a recommendation?

Thanks!

another thing i forgot to mention about East Coast Family Dental is they never submitted our x-rays to our insurance company, which we later found out from our current dentist's office.

Go to Dr. Cynthia Leung at Riverview Dentistry on Hudson St in Hoboken. It's on the corner of First Street.

She is the first dentist in a long time to give an honest assessment of non-invasive (non-root canal, etc) treatment.

I'm not kidding. You want Dr. Leung.

I had some crowns redone at East Coast Dental, and feel like it was really poorly done job. Even if they advertise themselves as cosmetic dentists, they certainly do not have the skills to call themselves cosmetic dentists. The color is very poorly matched, and I am not happy with my crowns. I haven't been to that office since - I do not want to bring any more money for them. When the crowns were put in, they made me sign this document that I cannot complain about the crowns, otherwise I would probably raise a stink.

My husband and I were also ripped off by East Coast. At first we had a great experience w. Dr. Sese, and then somehow got passed off to her husband, Dr. Evil. Not only did he tell me I was covered by my insurance as he was doing expensive procedures he was telling me was the only way to correct certain problems, he did a 1/2 assed job. The crowns and inlays all fell out, he didn't finish the 2 root canals he did and i had to have a specialist finish them. I have had to have a lot of his work corrected for a fraction of the price he charged me.
My husband had the same problem as me. We were both slapped with bills that were at least $5000 each.

I called the office, and spoke w. Dr. Sese and told her what was going on and they waived the fee bc I made a such a big stink. Apparently this happens a lot at that office. My family now goes to Dr. Lustiger's office. No, there isn't a massage therapist on hand, or brand new tv's in the office like at East Coast, but they are quick, honest, and do a wonderful job.

Stay away from dentists on Central Avenue! A couply doozies up there.

(I recommend the NYU College of Dentistry, they are regulated students but at least they are not trying to buy their next Mercedes out of your mouth.)

I've been going to East Coast Family Dentistry on Washington Street for a few months, but am concerned that I am being overcharged for work not covered by my dental plan. I'd love some reviews of East Coast and recommendations for high-quality dentists in Jersey City. Thanks!

I would go to Bayonne. Unfortunately the only Bayonne Periodontists in my network are these.

Abrams, Keith A
Gerhard, Ronald F
Mirmadjlessi, Nima

Thanks anyways for responding.

Being as I couldn't get any periodontist recommendations, I had to randomly choose one. I chose Dr. Gerhard. I hope he's good

Does anyone here have Aetna Insurance? If so, who do you use? I have to pick a dentist and haven't seen any of the names listed in this thread on aetna's website. Thanks

My husband and I both go to Dr. Gerstenfeld (two doctors, actually -- father and son) on Washington St. in Hoboken. It's a really simple office, but they do a great job. Very personalized treatment.

I don't have dental insurance, so I haven't been to a dentist in years, but I think it's time now. What's the most affordable place to go in the area? I don't want to get stuck paying thousands for a couple of fillings, and most private dental insurance doesn't actually start covering anything substantial until you've had it for a year or two.
