KellyH
So sorry to make a mistake in "latrines", as I did mean latrine. Singular. Your comment of don't listen to this "asshole" is totally inappropriate but so common on jclist. Say something and get reamed a new one behind hidden names. Just an FYI -I've been going to Terry's for over 18 years. I've been in the kitchen, the basement (his bedroom) and the sleezy bar. I've seen his hairbrush atop the grill and I've seen the latrine look worse then the ones in Port Authority. I don't frequent the dive anymore because I know after Hurricane Sandy the place was probably never cleaned. Years ago he had a nice barmaid, name escapes me but she cleaned the latrine. She said if she didn't do it he would never care. I know that I frequented the place very often when she worked there. So KellyH know-it-all, this Asshole knows his shit - the place is a dive, he doesn't care so take your chances eating or drinking there. I didn't say he wasn't a nice guy what I said was he was not Mr. Clean and the place is beyond gross. You obviously stop in rarely - or you would know the difference - get your facts straight before you call someone an asshole....asshole !

You DON'T want to go to Golden Cicada - the guy leaves his hair brush on the stove and the place is disgustingly dirty. The latrines haven't been cleaned in years. Avoid bacteria and go to the VFW or a Church.

After talking to a few mail carriers I found out the mail sorting station in Kearny was under water - found out yesterday from a mailman in Hoboken that the facility in Kearny was not only under water but an entire wall blew out from flooding. He was nice enough to tell me any mail there was gone - it will most likely be "returned to sender" rather than be delivered. Anything else, not legible etc.(meaning to or from) will probably be destroyed or just thrown out because to and from addresses are not legible. Mail has now been routed to another area for sorting. If you were expecting something during the storm it's probably a gonner ! Anything mailed during that week is most likely lost or under water. Supposedly this is the reason why the main post office in J.C. has no mail in it - they have had no deliveries. They should be getting deliveries soon from another sorting station. Just an FYI.

Might try New England A/C in Hoboken. He has about a 4,000 sq. ft. sheet metal fabrication facility right there. Can make just about anything. Made some odd sized elbows etc for me about a yr. ago. Worth a phone call 201-656-0737.

I rec. A&L because I've used them in the past. They were decent and beat other estimates I was given. Yes they are open on Saturdays. I didn't go through insurance and they had the best price.

Had a great conversation with Al tonight while walking around the feast. Now mind you my previous posts never stated dead junkies OR almost fatal junkies outside or near DOA's. These dudes are just high as a kite - so when other posters embellish my posts I cannot explain their reasoning for twisting and manipulating a story to suit their post. However, while talking to Al outside of the building there it is - some moron so whacked out on drugs he came out and tripped over himself. We enjoyed a good chuckle because it is an every day occurance. I know big shot it never really happened and I gues you will suggest I dreamed up this post too? Get over it and face reality. It's there under your big nose !

Yeah, I live on 7th also, take the Path, walk up Newark to Brunswick and there he was. Do you commute? Do you pass there everyday? Do you pass there after 10 pm at night? When you do go visit Al on the second floor of the building and Raul in the house next door on Brunswick. Or talk to Elisa in the same house on Brunswick on the second floor. All three are witnesses to the trash outside the corner building. All have seen these guys before over and over again. When you've talked to them then tell me you don't buy my story big shot ! You obviously haven't a clue. If you can;t see it from your window I guess it didn't really happen huh? Call the PD and ask them how many complaints they've had....then post on your results before you open your mouth.

I called two weeks prior when the same thing happened walking home at night from the Path. The guy was passed out and I gave them the details. The next morning I walked by at 6:30 a.m. going back to the Path and he was still there. So in my opinion I GUESS they didn't show up - what do YOU think? Unless you have a hotline to the PD there isn't too much they show up for. They know what lives there, they've been informed by neighbors but it still goes on month after month. I've talked to the tenants upstairs and they've notified the landlor and the cops. You got any better ideas? Obviously with the (2) officers on duty for a 14 block radius they had bigger fish to fry !

BTW the guys that live on corner of 5th and Brunswick work for Moishe's moving company. Saw a dude out there weeks ago passed out on the sidewalk with the needle still in his arm at about 1 a.m. The place is a hell hole nothing but trash. Screaming at their girlfriends, calling them every name in the book late at night. Low life scumbags but the cops won't show when you call? Go figure? Believe me my wife and I called twice but it is not an "emergency" so that means the calls don't get followed up on. Good old JC at its best.

are you talking about Abbeys bar? That place is a dump and the clientele is nothing but white trash. I wonder what goes on in there to. I walk past there at night on my walk back from the Path and the place is really sleezy. Was in there about 3 yrs. ago and it was a dump then. Cant imagine it got better over the years. I see nothing but scum walking in and out of there even at 8 pm at night. Dont know what comes out of that rat infested hole after 8?

Living on 7th for so many years I do know Al and his two bull dogs. Nice guy and all but his wife has been known to steal plants off of stoops in the neighborhood. She's a nurse at the Medical Center (Philipino) and walked up the stairs to a friends house and ripped the plant right off her outside deck on the front of the house. Took Basil, Cilantro and Thyme right out of the pots. As far as Connie goes her bro -in-law is a Mason with major alcohol problems. I've seen her in the Brunswick Garden helping herself to other peoples produce. Never saw him do it but have seen her there late at night because her backyard backs up to the garden. I get home late on the Path but I don't mistake who it is when the gate on Brunswich is locked and someone is in there helping themselves.

I live on 7th closer to Monmouth and walk the area often. There are many old timers on that block who are very talkative and pleasant. I do see some of the homes being renovated with new facades and it is looking rather nice. It is a safe area. Unfortunately I think the garbage comes from the school children when they are let out at lunch. They are not exactly considerate when it comes to disposing of their garbage. I do think it is a great area to live in.

FYI Mr_Johnson - over the last couple of months my wife and I have called the "non emergency" # - for more serious incidents than the Moishe crowd on the sidewalk. On all (3) occasions no one showed up. Miscreants were spray painting graffiti on a neighbors wall and actually stood there for over a half an hour. I advised the PD they were hanging out outside and had been there for at least 15 minutes.
Still no show. So do you really think they would bother investigating two people sleeping on a sidewalk. There aren't enough officers to go around. The calls go unanswered and unattended. That is not to say we don't try !

Found their website. Newenglandhvacservices.com

They are in Hoboken. Don't know where the owner lives but he helped me out more than once. Walked me through troubles on the phone and saved me some $. He was recomended by my old neighbor in Hoboken.

If they are Moishes employees join the crowd. I live on 7th St. Walked home from the Path a month ago late at night. Apparently the Moishes crowd also rents space on the corner of Brunswick & 5th diagonally across from Brooks Bros. Garage Building. Two guys were physically laying on the sidewalk totally passed out with the needles still stuck in their arms. One had the red Moishes shirt on but was too incoherent to even know where he was. I am sure he was still there the next day. Didnt bother to notify PD because they would not have shown up anyway. Not sure we really have a PD in JC.

Quality of Life is the question? Forget the parking and the nonsense. How about the car alarms that go off 24/7 in the hood- all night long? How about the music and subwoofers up and down the Avenue all night long? How about the HONDA's "YO" with no mufflers or the motorcylces drag racing all night long? How about the morons getting out of Healy's Tavern at 3 a.m. on a Friday/Saturday singing and screaming til 3:30 a.m. and then getting on their bikes and "reving the engines" all night? Quality of Life?
How about the cops enforcing NOISE nuisance all night long instead of sitting at Dunkin Donuts? If you tried this sh*t in Hoboken your A** would be GRA**! Hoboken cops don't tolerate ghetto animals. That's why this crap doesn't happen there. I see it all day long and I see them enforcing it.

He won't. If you call and it is an emergency MAYBE they'll show up. If you call the non-emergency # then you know for sure they WON'T show up and they will actually tell you that on the phone because they say well if it's over before we get there just call us back and let us know. So that's a given !
If you want a JC police officer during the day go to 16th & Coles and look around, there are usually 2-3 stationed there all day reading the newspaper or sleeping. Our tax dollars go a long way !

You have to realize that Chase has the resources and time to spend fighting your gripe with 100 lawyers that have nothing else to do but bust your chops. No different if you were trying to sue the IRS. What do you really think your chances are of getting anywhere? Get over it and move on and try someone else. Unless of course you have $100,000 nest egg account that you're willing to blow for the hell of it.

Hysterical - contact them directly? Are you kidding? Did you ever try to contact Verizon for a "real issue" and all you get on the other end is Ms. Johnson or Mr. Washington.....yeah o.k. contact them directly - the message board isn't going to do much either but merely a way to vent. The bafoons at Verizon can barely hold a conversation let alone help you with a real problem - then again they are all Ms. Johnson or Mr. Washington....so what do you expect? They suck in plain English!

Boy Poncho someone dump you over the weekend or something? For the most part, pet owners take care of their dogs. I have two Yorkies, I do not bring them to restaurants, stores, shopping malls or stores that actually allow pets. They are great company and companions and I walk them several times daily and clean up after both of them. I also have a wonderful life and tons of human companions. Your statements seem a bit immature and of no consequence. Many people have companions besides dogs and many are very responsible pet owners. Don't stereotype all pet owners as losers and irresponsible people that don't have any friends.

And while you're at it, take a refresher course on English grammar and spelling !

That's an alternative - if you bundle it neatly they will take it on garbage night. Just don't put it out in big black contractor bags because if they can't lift it they know it is construction debris and will not take it. I too have asked neighbors to put some of my debris out and usually they're kind enough to do it. Save some $ too !

Do a google search on Got Junk? or Got Trash? Those are 2 companies that will pick up everything and you don't have to put it curbside. Do not know the cost but easy enough to call and inquire.
