Thanks. What made you choose Leesa over the others?

So many to choose from.

Tuft and Needle, Purple, Leesa, Casper, etc.,etc.

Any opinions?

I'm aware of the online mattress review sites, not sure of their impartiality.

They apologized and asked for an email saying that I would not dispute this any further. They know they are wrong forcing people to pay double. They could easily program the card reader not to do this. If 1000 first time users, make the same mistake each year, that's $6000 extra revenue. Multiply that by x garages and that's a significant amount of extra money, that they haven't really earned.

They didn't force you to pay double. You, however, are doubling down on your mistake.

They asked for an email saying that you would not dispute this any further? That's hilarious, no they didn't.

This is the second time you've accused me of lying. What are you some kind of flaming asshole?

The exact words from the manager was , I apologize for what happened, we'll give you a refund, we need an email from you stating that you won't dispute the charge, a copy of the receipt, and the last 4 digits of your cc number.

If you don't want to believe it that's your problem.

I believe this may be true. A good company is going to give a nutso customer their $6 back just to get them to go away. They'll even say "we're sorry," just because any company knows that it's not worth the fight.

Now, I also know darn well they hung up and cracked up over the fool, and considered the $6 payment for a good laugh. They may have even asked for the "NFA" letter because somehow they've got to get back to work and keep the employees from dragging this ridiculousness on and on. This story will become legendary in the garage office.

I don't know what you're talking about. I didn't even have to argue. Management contacted me to send them details, and then they called me very nicely to apologize and offer me a refund, without my having to say anything more. There was nothing nuts about it.

What's really perplexing me is if the garage management immediately grasped the logic of my case, why is it so difficult for the flaming assholes on this board to understand.

It's very simple. The fee for the night is $6. I paid the fee. I should not have been blocked at the gate and asked for another $6. What's the difference if I paid as soon as I came in or when I left. It was a fixed $6.

The pay station was programmed to ask for $6. It knew I was paying for the evening. The exit gate should have been programmed to let me out when I gave it the paid ticket. It's all recorded on the ticket: entry time, payment time, exit time. Just because I paid as soon as I came in, I shouldn't have to pay double. Sorry to break the hearts of all you garage aficionados. You're acting like it's a f'ng religion.

PS This is my last post on this topic. (Thank goodness, I know.) If you don't get it by now, you never will. If you feel the need to curse or insult me, go kick your cat or beat up your wife/girlfriend. It will make you feel better.

I'm going to email Grove Pointe a link to this thread - I MUST SEE WHAT HAPPENS!

Hopefully, they'll reprogram the card readers, so that no one else gets fooled into paying double.

While you're at it why don't you take a picture of the signs posted on the walls of the garage (I think on the 4th floor), that caused me to think I should go right over to the pay station and pay. I don't live around there anymore, otherwise I would.

Hahahahahaha. Mr. sandman, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent comment were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this forum is now dumber for having read it. How original.

Do you think up all of your clever insults while doing laundry at the laundromat?

If you had half a brain you'd understand how the mistake could have been made.

The parking lot corporate management understands, and they are giving me a refund.

And you could also understand the mistake you made, take your lumps and learn the cheap $6 lesson. Instead, you want to be as defensive as possible.

And sorry, I'm calling BS on the $6 refund. Even if true, you spent more than $6 of your time to get it back.

I don't know what's more amazing, that this thread has 18 posts or that you would call someone a liar over something so trivial.

I mean, in the first post, the guy did originally claim that "I called corporate customer service and they said they can't help me."

I had to go to management. I was also told that they do have garages that accept prepayment and they understood how I could have been misled by the signs. I got a refund and an apology.

I'm confused. Why did you pay immediately after arriving? That's not how most garages work.

You get your ticket which is time stamped. When you leave you put your ticket into the machine, and it tells you how much to pay depending on how long you've been there.

Is that not how Grove Pointe garage works?

What can I say, I'm a novice garage user. The charge for the evening was a fixed $6. It shouldn't have mattered when I paid and when I left, as long as it was all on the same evening that I entered. Now that I know, I won't make that mistake again, however, that doesn't change the fact that I was charged double.

You were not ripped off, you just don't know how to use a garage. Every single garage on the planet with a pay station requires that you leave within a few minutes (usually 10-15ish) of paying. What was stopping you from using your "paid ticket" to exit three weeks later?

The signs indicate to pay at the pay station, they don't say pay within 15 minutes of leaving.

If the ticket records the time of entry and the amount paid, I would need to leave within the time period paid for. How would I use it three weeks later?

The sign at the entrance said $6 parking for the rest of the evening, when entering after 6PM.

I parked my car at 6:30PM and immediately put my ticket into the pay station and paid $6 cash. I didn't take a receipt, thinking the paid ticket was my receipt.

When I tried to exit at 8:30PM with the paid ticket, the gate machine wouldn't let me out unless I paid another $6.

There was no attendant at the booth. I walked around to the lobby and found her having lunch there. When I finally got her to come back to the garage she said I had to pay again.

I wound up having to pay another $6 to get out.

I called the location manager this morning and he gave me some BS about how you have to pay when you're leaving, not when you first come in, otherwise the machine charges you again.

I called corporate customer service and they said they can't help me.

Yes, it's only $6 overcharge, but it's the principle.

Can someone recommend a reliable and fast shipping company for a box to the Philippines.

I tried getting LBC to pick up a box and have been waiting 3 weeks to no avail.

I tried calling their Secaucus location, thinking I would just bring the box there, and there is no answer.

Seeking some new netflix recommendations.

I recently enjoyed:

My Name is Khan - About a man with aspergers syndrome, very touching, funny and grandiose in a forest gump sort of way. One of the most entertaining movies I've seen in a long time.

Biutiful - 2011 nominee for best foreign language movie. Great cinematography.

Before the Devil Knows Your Dead - About brothers who plan a robbery of their parents jewelry store then everything goes wrong. Great acting by Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Ethan Hawke and Albert Finney.

Postscript.

I tried using a broker, saw little action, and those that came seemed to want the perfect apartment.

Then I posted on Craigslist (once I figured out to enter anything in the company field), and found a very nice renter in one day (and many others interested.) I did my own background check, easily enough, through e-renter.com.

Thanks for all the good advice and, I'm sad to say, goodbye to Jersey City. You've got some flaws but you've come a long way since I moved here 13 years ago.

A great addition to Newark Ave. and the downtown neighborhood. Slick looking store, self order, middle eastern fast food. Beef,Chicken or Veggie Kabobs sandwiches or platters, felafel, stuffed grape leaves, shwarma and more. Interesting non-alcoholic drinks. Desserts.

Good tasting food. Ate there 2x. I recommend.

I'm thinking of renting out my small 2BR condo near Grove St.

This would be my first land-lording experience and I have some questions for the JCList experts.

1. Is it better to use a Realtor, or do it on your own with craigslist?

2. Is it better to get a month-to-month lease in case you have difficulties with tenant?

3. How do you get a background check on prospective tenant; Any recommended on-line service?

4. Might it be better to rent each BR separately, to halve the risk of deadbeat tenant, and to make eviction easier, if necessary?

5. What's the going rent for a 650 sq ft 2BR, very close to Grove path?

6. Is there a market for furnished apartments; would that get a higher rent?

Thanks.

I'm watching Pillars of the Earth based on recommendations here.

I read the book some time ago and thought it was one of the best books I ever read.

I'm enjoying the series; love period pieces. There's a lot of violence; not recommended for children. Great acting and settings, very realistic.

I also watched the first episode of Dexter, again very violent but strangely interesting.
