I'd much rather my neighborhood look like a "rat's hole" than have it crawling with people and cars. One of the many reasons I like my neighborhood is because it is quiet and peaceful. Neighbors look out for one another. It's a good little community. This is just another travesty to add to JC's list of shame.

Intially I thought this was a great idea but now I am completely against it. I rode my bike through the path that connects Jersey Ave to LSP at 715 this morning. I ride from downtown and generally dodge cars/hope that I don't get hit until I hit Jersey Ave. If this road connects these two areas, I doubt it will ease congestion. People will re-route their commute. Additionally, it will not longer be a peaceful entrance to the park.

Can you please explain the interaction you had with the employees at Ibby's that makes you say they are homophobic? I just want to make sure that I have a legitimate reason to never buy anything from them again.

Re: 7 Handicap placards in cars on 1 block?

I am also very annoyed by the abuse of handicapped parking/placards in this city (and elsewhere) but in all honesty, it's pretty hard to enforce. JC is quite diligent with who they give the permanent spots to, i.e. the disabled person must see a doctor apointed by JC for a physical/fill out lots of forms/etc. I see it abused all of the time but like I said, its hard to enforce. It took my roommate (who uses a wheelchair) 7 months to get a designated handicapped spot downtown. So there's the flip side...

Also, there is no way to enforce how many cars with handicapped placards can park on a street. However, the city limits the amount of designated handicapped spots on a block to two I believe...

Its obvious that a lot people abuse handicapped parking/privelleges, however, restricting handicapped parking punishes and further inconveniences people who are truly disabled.

Ive heard from people at the dog park that there are sharp objects in the water. Someone told me that their neighbors dog got cut up pretty bad and had to get stitches. I took my dogs there last summer and they were fine. Anyone know anything about that?

I love the food at Tacqueria and have had nothing but positive experiences there but after the owners comment about class, I'd rather take my low class money somewhere else.

Re: The Foundry - Condos at Liberty State Park

Yes, I rented there but after living there for almost 2 years, my opinions on the building and neoighborhood are valid. I could afford to buy there but never would. It is isolated. There are two bodegas. Have fun getting mugged in the LSP Park and Ride. The neighborhood is really scary in the summertime. I tried to get involved in the neighborhood association but it was useless. I was chased down the street by a man threatening "I'll beat the **** out of you white girl".

The apartments look nice but thats just it-- it's made to look nice. Several units with water POURING through the ceiling. Mold issues. Pest issues. Lazy people letting their dogs relieve themselves in the hallways. I said to beware in my earlier post. Trust me. Nothing changed much in the two years I lived there. I am sure the building is not completely different in the 4 months I have been gone. But, keep on reposting the same question on JCList-- and good luck.

I rented a one bedroom unit for almost 2 years there (moved out in January). I would never have wanted to live on the "inside" of the building. (The one bedrooms are on the outside of the building). The hallways were always dirty. The parking lot frequently had tons of trash blowing around. The dumpsters were always overloaded. Management is quite inattentive. Beware.

This is such a sad situation. From what I understand, the parents of the man who committed the murder knew their son was dangerous and they were unable to get the assistance they needed. This could have been prevented.

My condolences to both families.

Does anyone know exactly where this site is?

Recently went to Kraftwork in Philly. Wide variety of roating beers with delicious menu. Not too pricey. I think something similar would work very well in JC.

I've been wanting to try Rumi for a while now and finally had the chance. I ordered the sheperds salad and hummus. Food was ready in about 3 minutes and was delicious and fresh. I understand that I ordered something simple, but bad restaurants screw even simple orders up.

Next time I go in, I am going to ask if they can add additional spices to the hummus by request (jalapeno/red pepper/etc.). The woman at the register was polite, pleasant and welcoming. I'm going to be going back there for dinner now. I hope Rumi can weather this crappy economy.

I'm excited for a new business in town but majorly bummed that they won't have pinball. I'm not much of a video game person (love pinball) but I am hoping the beer selection alone will be enough reason to keep on going back.

I used to get breakfast food in the middle of the night at the Flamingo-- and for like $4. Tried to get some dinner last Friday night at 11:15 and it was nearly impossible. Everyone's kitchen was closed. I don't mind the Brownstone but they close at 11pm. It would just be nice to have another 24 hour dining option somewhere downtown. I'm not always able to drive to other areas for some food.

One of the bodegas (painted orange) on Johnston between Pacific and Liberty State Park has some new graffiti. Bullettown187 and Bullettown Posse (BTP). Graffiti like that needs to be removed asap. It seems to be gang related and scares the hell out of me.

I also live on Communipaw near LSP and am getting the eff out of there. I moved to JC is 2004 and lived downtown til 2008. I moved to Lafayette hoping it was "up and coming" and happy to get more for my money. I am now heading back downtown. I have been threatened by groups of teenagers, my fiance has been mugged 4 times and I was chased down the street by a man. I've called the police and every time they come I hear the same thing, "What the hell are you doing in this neighborhood?"

If you aren't familiar with Jersey City, walk around the streets of your potential future neighborhood before you sign a lease. That really goes for anywhere you plan on moving, though.

I found this on the internet. There is also a Coast Guard Advisory Notice that confirms this.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey

March 12, 2010 ? The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has undertaken an initiative that has been publically designated as the "PATH Tunnel Erosion Protection" Project. The Project involves the installation of a Technology designed by the Port Authority, which will be placed on the riverbed above the public transportation tunnels and is designed to mitigate certain damage to the tunnels. The Technology also includes selection of the subcontractors responsible for the manufacturing and implementation of the Technology. This Developmental Testing and Evaluation Designation will expire on April 30, 2013.
