I had the soft pretzels with dipping sauces at Zeppelin Hall a couple of months ago, and I thought they were pretty good. Hot out of the kitchen, with a beer, they hit the spot.

There is a new sign up in the location of the old Philly Soft Pretzel Factory. I believe it's advertising "Something GREEN In The Neighborhood - Coming Soon."

Can't really tell what it is--could be a florist, an organic foods shop, or maybe a Kermit The Frog specialty retailer.

It's too bad this place closed - the pretzels were good but I guess the rent was too high - it is located in the MG building. Also, only charging 75 cents for a pretzel probably didn't generate much profit. I was at a mall last week and two different pretzel places charge $3 a piece. These guys easily could have charged $1.25 or $1.50 a piece.

I see there is a location in Newark. A bit out of the way to go for a pretzel, but I might give it a try if the cravings get bad enough. Anybody have any experience with that spot?

Funny thing is, I am one of the partners. I was running it up until November until I parted ways. I just found out myself today that they shut it down. My time there, I ejoyed it, but it got difficult because of partners and the fact that our expenses were so high. For what we were selling, it was really challenging to keep up. I want to thank you all that supported us. This was big learning experience for me that I hope to take to other ventures. Hopefully, downtown will eventually bounce back, the businesses start coming back and ultimately bring sucess to the current struggling stores and future businesses. Be sure to check out Telly's right next to the Iron Monkey. They make the best sanwitches expecially the hot roast beef with cheese and hot peppers! They're so inexpensive too!

Maybe if this place had good hours and was open at the right times.

Good idea, bad execution.

Looks like our soft pretzel days are over. I stopped by today and the place was closed. By the look of it, the owners are in the middle of carting everything off. Even the menu signs were gone. I guess I have to go to Philadelphia now to get their terrific honey mustard dipping sauce.

Yeah I still like the place I'll definitely be back...but like I said I did notice it recently.

Next time if I have an issue with the food I'll bring it back in. Thanks for posting.

Cisco, I am really sorry about that. I do want to say there has been a lot of transition in the store the last couple weeks. I am no longer going to be in the store, however I will ocassionally be checking this site. We have a new manager who is great. We're trying to put the business in a more positive direction. If anyone has an issue in the store such as a bad pretzel, just come in next time, you don't even need to bring it, we will give another. Please be patient and understanding during this transition. There are a lot of people involved in the store such as other partners and people from the franchise. When this sort of thing happens, it kind of makes us lose focus on the front line. My personal e-mail is jerseypretzel@aol.com. Contact me directly if anyone has an issue. Posters on here are very supportive and it is important to make sure you all and all our customers are getting nothing but a great pretzel and good service.
By the way, The Poster "Tatur1" is one of the Partners' brother who has been involved in the store. He tried to pull a "Shill", I was not aware of it but I thought it was the right thing to do by telling everyone. He meant well but did it the wrong way. You guys are too clever for that . Please keep up the support, we can't do it without it.

Haydar

I have to admit I am definitely a fan of the place but I also have to say I dont know what's been up with the place the last 2 weeks every time I've gone in there I must have gotten some bad batches that were out in the display for a while cause they have been stiff and hard. Actually today I got some Rivets and I had to eventually toss them cause it was like crewing through cardboard.

I hate to suggest just tossing stuff out but if it's been in the display for a while then odds are with the heat in the display it's probably gonna start hardening up.

Can you make whole wheat soft pretzels or multi grain soft pretzels? If you sell pretzels that contain whole grain, I may buy more frequently.

I wish the owner good luck. Not sure about being able to support a store in that area selling pretzels. The rent can't be cheap and at 3 for $2 you need to sell A LOT of pretzels to make it work. Been there a few times and always had a good experience. Nice people. Good product.

I love that place! Never had a bad experience in there, and I am truly surprised that someone received attitude from one of the employees.

I said it once, I'll say it again - this place is awesome. I buy stuff from them every week practically.

As for their free pretzel special, luckily i was able to take advantage, but felt so bad about not paying them i ended up buying a soda I didn't need and donating money to their breast cancer drive.

Good people, good food, great addition to the neighborhood.

This thread reminded me about the pretzel shop and I couldn't resist stopping in at lunchtime yesterday.

The pretzels are delicious and an incredible bargain at 3 for $2.

Goes to show you there is no such thing as bad publicity.

I've had pretzels there. I actually really love Auntie Annes, but this place is pretty good. I usually buy them for my daughter when we are out and about in the neighborhood. I can't say that the people who work there are super nice, but they aren't rude either. I have no complaints either way and will be back.

I do hope they are sucessful because it's nice to have something to else to go to here...are they open on the weekend?

I went down this morning for some rivets since I needed a break from looking for a job, and was treated to a soft pretzel as well.

What a great little place and exceptionally clean! I have to bring the GF with me next time.

So I made it to the pretzel shop over the weekend. I think it's a great addition and I'm so happy to have it here. I stopped in after my Saturday class and ordered 3 pretzels for $2. They threw in a free one, which was very much appreciated. I enjoyed the pretzels so much that I bought two boxes of rivets with cheese, one for a friend and one for my aunt. This time they threw in a free dipping sauce to try.

I think the rivets and platters are a great alternative to bring to a party or just when visiting friends or family. Everyone that tried them at my aunt's house loved them and asked that I bring them again next time!

Went there recently. It is definitely out of place, but a good addition to Jersey City. I can see it being closer to a park setting where there are kids and more leisure pedestrial traffic...not a financial district.

I personally did not find the pretzels that amazing. Perhaps it would taste better with a big mug of ice cold draft beer.

I have been wanting to try it, but they are closed by the time I get home from work. Wondering if they will be open this weekend so I can try it out! I love soft pretzels and am very excited about the addition!
