Hope you had a police report made out. First for insurance purposes, if you decide to file a claim. Second, by having a report made out, it becomes more than a notation. It becomes a way of determining if this was a random event or the start of a pattern of breakins, as these things sometimes occur in clusters.

The police had no interest in doing a report since nothing was stolen.

I am leaving my apartment at the end of the month. I had a one year lease from 2011-12 which has since expired. I notified my landlord on 10/13 I'd be moving out at the end of the month and he said that he has to hold me responsible for the first half of November if he can't rent it (30 days).

He asked for permission to come take photos but other than that I haven't seen the apartment listed nor has he phoned asking for access to show the place. What are my options here? How can I tell he's making a good faith effort to rent the place for November 1? Any suggestions?

Has anyone had any luck writing into the JCPA with proof you have a permit, etc and resolving a ticket so you do not have to go to court/miss work?

Thanks.

Are you 100% sure you were in the right zone? Certain areas are pretty messed up. That said, I think you have to go to court no matter what if you want to fight it, I don't think this is the 1st time this issue of bogus tickets has been brought up.

Yes I am. It's the same street where I've parked for 3 years living at my current address.

As someone mentioned, Parking Authority is sending me a document confirming that I have a parking permit. I'll be in court, its a waste of a vacation day or half day but not letting them take $42 for nothing on principle.

Perfect location is NHA Trang's old space on Newark Ave, has a parking lot for these non path users and the bands to park without being booted. Plus has the space to have restaurant and stage.

2 Boots is the best GF Pizza in JC.

IMO, Glutino is not a good example of GF pizza, frozen or restaurant variety.

For those who enjoy baseball, Yankee stadium happens to have a great GF pizza.

126 to Hamilton Park, take the bus that says Hamilton Park via Hoboken Path, not only the Hoboken Path one.

Comes at 1020, 1115, 1230, not sure the next one.

$4.25

..way to show sympathy assholes. Is this not supposed to be a public forum where people can come to their neighbors for assistance? Real neighborly.

Some people do not realize how fortunate they are even after this storm.

It was parked in front of Sawadee on Newark in the am. If that means anything, looked like they were getting their daily prep done right there.

I live on 3rd and Brunswick, area is fine. JC is a city so act accordingly. I have no issues with the neighborhood, 2nd St Bakery is right there and there are a bunch of places on Newark. Not to mention bars like Lamp Post, White Star, Lucky 7, and then Madame Claude's all within walking distance.

Just because that guy won't live past Jersey Ave, doesn't mean you can't.

Long time reader, sporadic poster...I thought I'd bring some good to some future jc-list reader. For three years, I lived at Morgan Lofts (144 Steuben St), great building, pretty under the radar but for the size and space you get, great deal. Yeah, their maintenance is spotty but eventually things get fixed. Anyway neither of those are the points of this post.

We moved out June 1, had a security deposit of 1.5 months rent, $3900. A1 Prop Mgmt returned us $2595 of the deposit with deductions for

$150 - Cleaning - Apparently the freezer/master bathroom/broiler/ac fan were not clean up to snuff

$55 - Pilot Light - This never worked, we put a maintenance request when we moved in and they claimed it was not fixable and told us an alternate way to light that burner.

$1,100 - Replace the entire carpet due to 8 stains. Our entire 3 bedroom apartment except for kitchen and bathrooms was carpeted. We had the carpets professional shampooed and yes there were 8 stains (all smaller than a quarter).

Needless to say, an email exchange, some phone calls, and we were refunded an additional $650. Keep in mind that all these charges were on us, although we took over the apt at the end of the previous tenants lease 30 min after they moved out and they did nothing to the place when we moved in. But seriously if you live there, be careful, they expect the place to be brand new/spotless and will charge for everything.

Another story from someone else in the building my roommate spoke to:

A guy who used to live in a four-bedroom on the ninth floor said ? A1 is trying to take $6,400 of their $6,425 deposit, and he's been in a battle with them for two and half months. Apparently there were some legitimate charges, like when he kicked the door down because he forgot his keys, but A1 claims they should've actually charged $9,000 and were giving them a discount.

After he requested all their invoices, etc., among other things he figured out they were charged three hours of labor for every spackle hole.

My car has been stolen twice in downtown (Apr 09 and Feb 10). Both times it came back within a week. Found in Irvington and East Orange, with some damage from ignorant and careless driving (and the break-in) but not from being chopped for parts or anything else..

"Our stolen car ratio is very low in Jersey City," Martinez said. "This is not a typical find."

This quote is bullshit. I've had my car stolen 2 times since I've lived downtown. And my friend had his car stolen in broad daylight on my street.

I'm glad they provided real perspective.
