They should do a check on the parking garage in Newport lot. You know how many cars are there collecting dust & are probablly stolen waiting to be picked up.

Edgar Martinez said. Martinez said that around 10 a.m. on Thursday morning, a police officer driving near the new Journal Square Park and Lock parking deck and adjacent lot at 801 Pavonia Ave. picked up a signal from a LoJack security device, meaning a stolen car was in the vicinity. Jersey City detectives were dispatched to the scene and found a gray 2008 Toyota Highlander registered in New York that had been reported stolen. The vehicle identification number had been tampered with, he said. Martinez said no arrest warrants have been issued. "There are currently no suspects, as this case is under investigation," Martinez said. The police, working with the state Division of Criminal Justice, found 10 more cars scattered throughout the parking deck and adjacent lots that had been reported stolen by their owners, Martinez said. The cars were impounded by the police. He said all the stolen cars had VIN numbers that had been altered or destroyed, and all of them were registered in New York.
