If your home school is a failing school then you can go to the Dept of early childhood education to see if you can get a transfer. They do not do this until summertime so there is nothing you can do. What I did was sign my son up for dual language program. I picked PS 30 which borders Bayonne almost, because I know all the downtown schools are inudated with requests for that program. We got in via lottery and I could not be happier with the school. Amazing teachers and staff!

I lived on Suydam for about 5 years. I ended up moving out because of the new building that was being built on our lovely quiet 1 block dead end street. Parking was tough for us because of the Foundry building and people not wanting to pay for parking and their guests, with the new building adding to the mix I dont think I would have ever found parking. We decided to move. We were not happy about leaving our neighborhood. I absolutely LOVED the area. It was always safe. Its a very working class close community. You do not have the upptiness of downtown. I reccomend this neighborhood to anyone who is looking to move into JC!

Since you do not have kids in public schools than you have no idea how this works. Most if not ALL of the events in schools are funded by the PTA which are fund raisers ... parents donate treats, time and money to the schools. Trust me, we are asked weekly for something new but it is for the kids and they enjoy it, it is not for adult pleasure...

I love how all you well to do people are saying 15/hr isnt a game change... maybe for someone who makes minimum wage at a Mcdonalds this would be a huge game changer.

It does not matter how much this person is or getting paid .. but the fact that they are allowed a goverment job yet again when they have proved themselves not to be trustworthy is what the real issue is. I do not care if she worked for minimum wage. That is a job going to someone else MUCH MORE deserving of it. Let her slum it at McDonalds and come home smelling like grease and sadness at the end of the day.

PS - I dont work at McDonalds but I am a lower middle class individual who works hard for their money.

Do I think that this woman deserves a job? Of course, does she deserve to work, yet again in a government agency? HELL NO!

In fact, she used to run a afterschool program in Newark and my company that I work at printed all of her journals for her, she never paid the 3,000.00 bill. So she sold those journals for a profit and never paid her bill..... She's not to be trusted period.... the DOR is a joke. That whole department needs to be sweeped and restarted.

apparantly DownTown is its own city of Jersey City - GAG

https://www.yahoo.com/travel/the-brook ... y-state-125773642747.html

New Jersey
Downtown (Jersey City)

The dining scene has covered all the requisite cuisines (Thai, Japanese, Italian, Mexican, Chinese, etc.) so thoroughly, it?s added laser-focused restaurants dedicated to rice balls and cookies & crepes. You can also get your bike tuned up at Grove Street Bicycles, pick up retro-style dresses that would make Zooey Deschanel giggle at Vivi Girl Shop, and stock up on vegan makeup at Modern Sage. On the real-estate side, the skyline is getting increasingly cluttered with some of the tallest buildings in the state.

according to your stats:

The overall crime rate in Greenville is 5% lower than than the national average. For every 100,000 people, there are 8.05 daily crimes that occur in Greenville.Greenville is safer than 78% of the cities in the New Jersey. In Greenville you have a 1 in 35 chance of becoming a victim of any crime. The number of total year over year crimes in Jersey City has decreased by 13%.

Sooo..... its not a walk in the park but Greenville IS Jersey City too... or shall we just break off DTJC and rename it to something different?

Does anyone know who I can contact in regards to demolition on our block? They have been demoing a building that has asBestos inside of it and the dust is so thick that it's covering our cars they're not using a water sprayer they are literally using a garden hose to spray a huge half a block building that they're demoing they have also stirred up hundreds and hundreds of mosquitoes from the demo the block is a health hazard literally I can't even open my windows or let the kids play outside they are all wearing ventilator mask so I can only assume how bad it is for us to be breathing it in. They also work well past the hours that were originally posted they were not supposed to be demoing on the weekends but lo and behold Saturday at 7 AM they were demoing I called the cops but obviously the developer know somebody because I was told that it would only be a half an hour until they're finished they finished at 1 o'clock

I cannot even imagine how neglectful this center could be to allow 30 children to be affected!

Thank god it was not my sons but I feel sorry for any parents who are affected.

Thankfully no charge (yet at least...who knows what will come in the mail).

I figured it only had to be a matter of time until the "it's all your fault" chorus would chime in. Because, clearly my not moving my car nullifies any genuine need for the city to improve communication with residents. I'm not saying I am a perfect model citizen here (I don't even recycle consistently. Oh the shame). I guess I'd just rather someone see this thread and pay close attention to the snow clearing schedule so they can avoid the headache I dealt with.

so, basically, the city moved and stored your car for no charge?

I have gotten lots of word of mouth reports that a man was found hanging from a tree in the park by 22 school - two different people who do not know each other told me that they heard this story as well. One person said the man had his hands tied behind his back - totally unsure of what is going on but wondering if anyone else heard anything

I love you and Mikey - THERE are good people on JCLIST!
Ha! Sorry, I simply had to create an account and comment on this particular comment. Knowing Mikey personally and knowing how modest he is about his good deeds I have to let you know that Mikey HAS in fact opened his home to the homeless on occasion, allowed them to spend the night in a warm home with a roof over their head, has given them money the next day for a hot meal, train fare, etc. and often gives those looking for some spare change a little something to perhaps buy a bite to eat.

While most of you view the homeless as a commune of lepers bringing down the property value, others see them as human beings like you or I. People who have made mistakes, poor choices or maybe have been dealt a raw deal in life and find themselves in the situations they are in.

You dont have to give them a quarter, a nickle or the time of day if you choose not to. However you don't have the right to try and herd them up and ship them off to some other location out of your sight and out of your mind. Welcome to life in a city. If you dont like it then maybe the suburbs are better suited for you.
I am sorry that this happened to her - if it were me I think I would have been a lot more aggressive towards the individual I dont want to down play it at all but I dont think I would have called 911 I would have made a scene though no doubt about that - I find it hard to believe there was no one on the sidewalk other then you two but meh - so what was the officers name that came up? anyways..... by attacking everyones screen name is not showing much maturity on your end - if you did not find the response you were looking for why keep coming back to validate yourself?

Good Luck

Thanks for the suggestions, the tree is well over head height it is probablly about 8-10 feet tall and branching out all over - is it possible to pick them and ripen them off the branch? I have heard you shouldn't do that but with my experience I never get any fruit, I have never even eaten a fig its such a tragedy lol -

I have a massive fig tree in my backyard near LSP - and I mean MASSIVE this thing is overgrown I believe, unforutnately when the figs are almost ready the opposums and whatever come and eat every last piece of fruit - I get hundreds of figs on this one tree but have no idea how to maintain or harvest it. I have lived here for 3 years and just figured out last year it was a fig tree lol -

Does the town do this? We live near LSP and the mosquitos right now are ruthless!! I cannot even open my back door without 10 flying into the house, lets not talking about enjoying my back yard... not going to happen... we need spraying! who can I call? I was thinking about purchasing a bug zapper but how beneficial would that really be? I feel bad because my kids want to play in the backyard and I dont want them to get west nile or some crazy shit!
