Does the town do this? We live near LSP and the mosquitos right now are ruthless!! I cannot even open my back door without 10 flying into the house, lets not talking about enjoying my back yard... not going to happen... we need spraying! who can I call? I was thinking about purchasing a bug zapper but how beneficial would that really be? I feel bad because my kids want to play in the backyard and I dont want them to get west nile or some crazy shit!

I saw on the news today that the man indeed did not have power and was keeping warm with two pots of boiling water on his stove that caught fire - power had just been turned back on when the pots ignited and he was killed - very sad situation

ALERT - Dog Walker in Heights is abusing its clients dogs -

A friend of mine posted this on their FB page tonight and to say it is disturbing is putting it mildy, does anyone know of who's dogs this could possibly be or who the walker is?

Pet Abuse Alert in Jersey City Heights:

I just got back from a walk from Congress Street & Central Avenue in Jersey City Heights. During said walk I witnessed a dog walker kick one of the 2 dogs in his care. This took place in the vicinity of South/Sherman in Jersey City Heights. Prior to seeing this I overheard hi
m tell his partner in crime that if he only does one long walk in the middle of the day that he doesn't have to do both walks. If you live in Jersey City Heights or know someone who lives in Jersey City Heights who owns a dog(s) please let them know what I witnessed. After the guy kicked the dog I followed him until we were around other people and confronted him. He admitted to being a dog walker. In my anger I asked him how he'd like to be kicked and that I better never see him kick another animal. I tried to follow him, but lost him. I took a picture as soon as it happened, but it came out blurry because I focused in too closely trying to get a good picture. The dogs were (1) an older looking beagle and (2) Papillon black & white. The dog walker is Caucasian about 5'10" approximately 210-220lbs late teens and his friend that may or may not be a dog walker is African American about 5'9" approximately 135lbs. The dog he kicked was the beagle. Please, please, please share this with any friend in Jersey City Heights and on Facebook.

I hate to make assumptions even more so of this type but I perused this girls FB page and it seems that she is affiliated with a gang... which is sad and even more sad that she left 5 children at the age of 27 with no mother, one son is only 4 months old. It makes me sick to my stomach actually.

Clearly you have no idea what area you are speaking of, or have no general knowledge of the area because you are too scared to venture out of downtown. Don't down our side of town because you are not cool enough to have had the pleasure to enjoy what we have to offer.

I do not think that they are being "shill" honestly living over here we are super excited to have something as great as this place, to start off on such a great foot with good food, reasonable prices and a great atmosphere we can't help but be a little over-joyed for this!! I know I am I hope other people follow suit and open up more places... and for the guy who keeps saying he would not want to leave here late at night after drinks.. you run that risk anywhere and I would think even more so downtown.

See everyone there!

A rolling stop is not a stop.... you would have failed that portion of the drivers test if you did that, cops have been particulary douchey lately... but you admitted it was a rolling stop, your fault. You could take the time to go to court and they may make you plead guilty to a lesser offense but its not really worth it in my opinion.

Maybe he wasn't drunk this time... lol

BUT I am so glad you posted this because I WAS gonna go and I missed it but now I am not dissapointed and I will know to stay away again next year, we actually went to Heaven Hill in Warwick and they had a great time. Anywhere you go easter egg hunts tend to be chaotic, parents are ridiculous and its not really worth the aggravation for the kids so its better to do it at home I think. Or at least go somewhere where they have it coordinated. With all that being said that is really uncalled for and what a jerk he seems like.

In the news report I watched the lady told the gunman that she had her kids with her and he told her to take her kids and get out... she chose to ignore him , I would have taken my kids and gotten out I dont know though in the heat of the moment I have no idea.

They also mentioned that with the newer cars with the electronic chip needed to start the car the days of hotwiring is dwindling and that car jackings will be on the rise because the newer cars that the thiefs want must have their keys to work. (mine ..scary!)

Our experience with the pool is the earlier you go the better off you are. It is open I think at 7am in the mornings for lap swimmers, in the beginning of the summer it is insanity on the weekends as you can expect its a great facility, we tend to stay away at peak hours.

I live on the last block of Communipaw... we love it in that area, it is pretty quiet near the end of Commuipaw, our neighbors are awesome, everyone in the last I would say 6 blocks of Communipaw is for the most part very nice. Pacific and up going towards Grand if your not used to city life may be a little rough at night there is a private bar on the corner of Halladay that gets crazy on the weekends... but the further down Communipaw you go the quieter there is, the only thing we really lack is some food options that are close no chinese even in the immediate area but several places do deliver, also don't forget the new pool in lafayette park as well.. all in all an awesome area and it seems almost like a hidden gem of JC to me...

You won’t be seeing her face on a Post Office wall any time soon, we imagine, but Jenni “JWoww” Farley has run afoul of the law in Jersey City while shooting her “Jersey Shore” spin-off show.

Farley and her co-star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi left their Mercer Street digs on Wednesday to visit Crystal Sun Nail & Spa at the corner of Warren and Essex streets. But instead of finding a legit parking spot, Farley parked her BMW a few feet from a fire hydrant, police said.

The Jersey City Independent website reported that when a Jersey City Parking Authority enforcement officer moved to ticket the vehicle, the enforcement officer was initially waved away by a Jersey City police officer.

But law and order prevailed and JWoww received a ticket.

According to the Jersey City Municipal Court Violations Bureau, a ticket for parking too close to a fire hydrant carries a $54 fine.

It was a bad day all around for JWoww. TMZ reported that she has been slapped with a $150,000 lawsuit from her former landlord for allowing 495 Productions to film segments of the first season of “Jersey Shore” in her Long Island home.

Landlord Stuart Levine said he was not told about the filming, and was not given the option to say whether or not filming could take place on one of his properties.

In the meantime, Snooki is making news by the minute.

She revealed this week that she is 15 weeks pregnant and got engaged to her boyfriend and father of the baby, Jionni LaValle, at the W Hotel in Hoboken on Valentine’s Day.

So the cop WAIVED away the the Parking Enforcement like they should not get tickets???

WTF

Mosquito Spraying
#27
Home away from home
Home away from home

We live near LSP and while I realize that the fall is here, the mosquitos are an absolute terror in our neighborhood since actually, Spring. I have not been able to enjoy our beautiful yard all summer and I am sure I should have thought about this sooner but oh well... With the threat of West Nile does JC spray, can I request it? We have sprayed our yard with the stuff in Home Depot but it just doesnt help at all... our kids get covered in head to toe in bites, you walk outside and there are 15 on one leg, it is unreal I have never seen anything like it, we take the precautions dumping any standing water etc.

Usually, USUALLY I would be siding with you, but I have read many different accounts of this story. Two known facts the cop that arrived on the scene was dispatched out to a call of shots fired in the area, secondly they came upon this man who they were chasing from the scene, he had this gun around his neck on a shoelace, it was photographed and printed in the paper. Several blocks from where he was shot and where the inital call came in was the shell casings of.... ta-da! HIS GUN... so its not hard to believe he was aiming it anywhere he please, agreed it was a tragedy, a tragedy that he did something so STUPID that his life was taken away from him, no one deserves to die and as much as I not really care for the JCPD force, they would not have deserved to die either because they didn't want to hurt someone who was pointing a gun at them. Though, I do think if a cop is going to shoot his weapon it should be to disable or disarm them just my opinion but I believe he was justified anyways.

Clothing Bank
#29
Home away from home
Home away from home

So I am graduating with a degree in Human Services in a few weeks and would like to put my knowledge to use and I also need job experience. I am looking into opening up a clothing bank in Jersey City. Is anyone aware of anything they have like this? I know that in Morristown at a church they run one, once a week in a basement. Anyone is welcome and it is set up like a thrift shop.

Essentially it is to help the homeless and others who are less fortunate who cannot otherwise afford clothing. I know I would have to set up some type of rules so everyone isnt coming in a packing bags upon bags of clothing. Anyways does anyone know if any place in JC offers this? I am not talking about dress for success, these places require referrals, which we will not.

Also does anyone know of a church who would like to commit one day a week or every other week (on a weekend) and some space to this cause?

And if anyone has donations I am looking to get started on this ASAP

Thanks!!!

Sara
