Neverleft You can still go by the parking lot for Bruno's on Summit Avenue. The brick entrance walls & fencing are still there.

DickCheney you're right. Al Newman's on 440 always served the underaged high school kids. Spent many a night there. Robertson's at the square was great. But the Tripoli on Newark Ave was the best. Everything was homemeade. They had the best chicken soup ever. Puccini's used to be called the Villa Capri.

Psyched about BuyRite. Haven't been to this new one but have been to others. Good prices and a fantastic selection. Really good prices on Italian red wines if you know what you're looking for.

Used to go to the HPAH 2-3 times/week. Their burgers used to be the best. Only went once since the turnover. It was awful. Looking forward to it reopening.

I wish the owner good luck. Not sure about being able to support a store in that area selling pretzels. The rent can't be cheap and at 3 for $2 you need to sell A LOT of pretzels to make it work. Been there a few times and always had a good experience. Nice people. Good product.

Agree about the greasy pizza @ Paulus Hook. As far as the boxes for slices the only place I've seen them is @ Pizza Gargiulo on Greene Street. It does make a difference when you don't want to eat them right away. Their boxes are heavy & keep the slices hot

Food's just ok but the location and bar are worth the trip. Will go back just for the drinks and atmosphere.

Best ones in JC are Liberty Landing Marina, Puccini's and Casino in the Park.

Tried 5 guys in Hoboken last week and I didn't see any shakes. Burgers were OK but certainly wouldn't rush back for them. No better than Johnny Rockets. Lots of fries though and the peanuts are a nice touch. Not sure of where I could recommend a burger place. Only ones I can think of would both be in Hoboken, O'Neails or Back Bear.

Bill
Don't understand the confusion. John's in NYC is my favorite just like I said in the other thread. This one is talking about the best pizza in Jersey City and for me that's Garguilo's on Greene St. Still don't understand how John's in NYC can be so different from the one in J.C. but it is. Plus sometimes its nice being able to grab a quick slice which John's doesn't offer.

Have to agree it looks like the owner posted his own review considering he said "we" are back in business. Other then that I also agree that the wings at the Iron Monkey are probably the best around. As far as the pizza at Paulus Hook definitely too soggy. John's in NYC is actually my favorite. Don't know what's wrong with the one in J.C. but it's not the same. Just not enough taste. Tried it twice but NG.

Best pizza in J.C. is definitely Pizza alla Gargiulo on Greene St. only if you like crispy thin crust. The dough is made there and Nicky is probably the best pizza maker around. They also make their own bread for their sandwiches.
