I have a problem with this thread: http://jclist.com/modules/newbb/viewt ... c_id=35539&post_id=396853

Why isn't anything being done?? Far less offensive than sullyx.

this is a so called "public" forum just like anything public, people can say what they want. if you dont like someone or find what they say is offensive then skip over their posts. unless you are outright being targeted or threatened with violence etc etc then its just another form of censorship.

people need to get over themselves. the world is not here to agree with everything you say or stand for.

Don't I have the right to ignore what people have to say? Is it censorship if someone sets up their own tv to skip over certain channels while scrolling?

I don't think it's such a ridiculous thing, and it is not censorship--if it's censorship, it is censorship done by each user only for themselves.

I'm skeptical if such option will be provided, so it may be a moot point. But if there is such option, my experience of browsing this forum would be much more pleasant.

I can think of at least 3 people I would completely ignore. I won't care then what kind of garbage they write.

Because there is no one more intolerant than someone who demands tolerance for themselves, usually.

People should be able to filter out any other user's postings if they find his or her comments offensive. I'm not saying ban these people...although I won't care if they do get banned. But I'm saying I should be able to have some control over the contents that I choose to be exposed to.

I agree with the ignore button. There is one person here who is an absolute jerk. I'd like to just ignore him. Also i just posted about left bank and it took me 10 minutes to find the original thread,searching/merging should be easier And yes, posting videos should be easy

Adding to my video improvement request:

It would be great if the improved video embed also allowed video from non Youtube sources like Liveleak, Dailymotion, etc.

I too would like an up vote and down vote tab.

Many times I've read some barely intelligible screed from a certain barely-literate former public school teacher who posts on this site with a masochistic frequency, and almost responded before stopping myself from feeding the troll.

A "like" and "dislike" function would be very useful retort to some of these execrable rants.

Agreed... that's at least half the reason I come here. Like the above passionate defender of what he imagines the constitution to be.

Let's just suspend posters 1st Amendment rights to free
speech.

I think an ignore button is silly too, but technically speaking, nobody has any 1st Amendment rights on this forum, as it is privately owned and administered. The Admin can ban anyone, censor comments, etc. anytime he wants. He is not the government and this website is not a "public forum" in the constitutional sense. Anyone who has a problem with the way this website is run and what gets or doesn't get censored isn't forced to be here.

As important as 1st Amendment rights are, it blows my mind how so many people think that they have a right to "free speech" on internet forums that are not government property.

But reading between posts, it comes in my sight, and it's unpleasant to know people who have such racist views are posting here. I don't mind them exercising their freedom of speech, but I have no interest in learning their views. So Ignore button is perfect.

The introduction of an ignore button would not affect your ability to read all the crazies on here. The folks that are ignored wouldn't even know they were on someone's ignore list.

Well, if you're asking, why not join the real social media world with feedback for users and posts. There's Listers I have found consistently credible, and others not so much. Newer members should be able to see what other members think at a glance.

This site: biggerpockets.com, has stats of posts, votes, and awards on every post. This allows you to see what the community thinks of the poster. 1000 posts and 3000 upvotes, this person is credible. 1000 posts and 20 upvotes, not so much.

I don't want to see racist remarks from a few users, and only a few people here who post racist remarks.

You would be first on my list to be censored if given the option to ignore. You can sue me in federal court for the alleged violation of your first amendment rights to free speech. I hope you have deep pockets. Hahaha.

Something to make it easier to paste photos into posts would be good. Those of us with weaker skills always have trouble with this.

Just an ignore button to ignore all posts using a wildcard would be good. For example..... Yv*

+1 kinda defeats the purpose of an open forum. I always like to know what the latest talking points from the opposition.
