A few years ago I was walking down Newark to Grove path and passed that recessed area next to Word. It was around 7am. I saw someone from the corner of my eye and it was him lying on his stomach eating a slice of pizza with his face. No hands involved.

I hope this is fake, though I did see her being lifted out of the shopping cart, placed on a stretcher, and loaded into an ambulance on Monday afternoon, I think it was. She was alert and I assumed it wasn't really all that serious.

wow 28 so very sad, I just saw Taco Saturday night after the Cathedral Arts show. Look like he was in a wheelchair. He always calls me Jesus or Papi depending on how high he is. R.I.P.

In all my years in JC (almost 9 already!) I never got to see this pair in action. Incredibly, I see Teddy often, as well as the always impeccable pimp. From everything that has been said in this thread, and others, I think of them as a sad, tragic pair. It's a shame that people who are in obvious need of help often go without it because of all the regulations and bureaucracy in place.

Did she really pass away? How do you know this? What were the circumstances? It was only a week or two ago that I walked by them on Newark Ave. and she was screaming obscenities at him in Spanglish.

There is help. The problem is they need to seek it and want it.

Any local emergency room can assist them in finding a free program. Hogar Crea is long term, local, residential and free:

I don't know why they are in the situation they are in and maybe it's all their fault but I know for sure that no one wants to be homeless and looked down upon.

homeless shelters, soup kitchens, churches which shelter the homeless are all temporary solutions. There needs to be a program in place to give these people hope and support that they can and will change. A jobs program that not only trains the homeless but gives them hope.

Ok, have to laugh that there is a thread devoted to Taco and his plus one. I have called the fuzz on this duo MANY times, and never to any avail. I was even told once by a cop who was standing about 50 ft away as they were hurling empty bottles at each other (and into oncoming traffic), that it was all ok because they only seem to exhibit violence towards each other and their hands were tied because of the over crowding of jails due to 'real criminals'. I live on newark ave above a business and they used to ring all the buzzers and 'break in' to hang out in the hallway for warmth. When the police finally showed up about 2 hrs later, got the same story. Nothing they could do because they had left about 5 minutes earlier, even though everyone in the building saw them, knew they didn't live there and wouldn't . More of the fine work of the JCPD.

I agree they are a nuisance and an eye sore.
Has anyone actually done anything about them or asked the police if there is any action we can take or that city hall can take?

They live on Jersey Ave, and Wayne, above the old school pharmacy. I think the bruises are from her falling which I've witness a few times when I lived in DM. Sometimes when she tries to pee in between cars she falls over, the last time she fell she split her head open.. ouch!!!
