Anyone know anything about White Cap Construction Supply on Tonnelle? Do you have to be a contractor with an account setup to go in there? Do they only sell in bulk?

Whenever I drive past I wonder whether there are bargains to be had there versus Home Depot and Lowes, but have chickened out of pulling in.

Today I finally got round to looking them up on the web, it's still unclear to me whether they service walk in customers.

Great that you are holding stoop sales, but they are not part of the Hamilton Park Festival.

The Hamilton Park festival is held in Hamilton Park, where there will be dozens of neighborhood and commercial vendors, food vendors, petting zoo, kids entertainment, live music.

Come on out to the park tomorrow!

The one contested race on my ballot was for county freeholder where an anti-corruption candidate was running against the embodiment of Hudson County Democratic Organization machine politics in Tom Degise.

For democratic committee-man in my Hamilton Park area, the only choice was board of ed (ex)member Mat Schapiro, who is known to be moving to California.

Democracy in action!

I'd love to know the real story behind Nick's rabid hatred of Neighbourhood Associations.

Owner of a a small business that was stifled? Former Vice President who lost out in a bitter power struggle over the park flowerbeds?

Blocking an intersection so you can be inches from the car in front will not save you ANY TIME

Drivers follow through like that during gridlock, because if they don't then cars turning from the other direction will come in front of them further backing up the jam and they will never get across.

In heavy traffic situations, if you politely wait for the other side of the intersection to be clear before crossing, you would never get across.

Unless there is a cop there to direct traffic into taking turns (ignoring the lights), it is a no-win situation.

Why do they close downtown for a 5K when one could be run perfectly well in Liberty State Park or Lincoln Park? Or even along the waterfront.

Parks are great for jogging, that's part of what they are designed for.

Fight it, it will be dismissed if you can show there is something wrong on the ticket. I had one dismissed in NYC because the traffic warden had written "Volk" (Volkswagen) instead of Volvo on the ticket, everything else on the ticket was correct.

I didn't even have to appear in person, nyc has a system for appealing tickets by mail!

I received a call-back form one of the organisers, the parade is going ahead on Sunday 10th March 2019, rain or shine.

Starts at 12:30 pm by the Lincoln Statue on John Kennedy Boulevard and Belmont Street.

Can anyone provide any information on the 2019 Jersey City Saint Patrick's Day? Will it go ahead in the rain?

I am supposed to be attending but impossible to verify it is going ahead with lots of rain forecast for the morning.

I have found a couple of websites, but neither has any up to date information:

Who paid for that billboard? Hardly a groundswell of disgruntled [would be] workers in Queens:

The Job Creators Network (JCN) is a conservative and advocacy group founded by Home Depot co-founder and former CEO Bernie Marcus.[1] It is funded mainly by corporate executives and conservative foundations including the Mercer Family Foundation, and has been extensively promoted by far-right website Breitbart.[2][3]

Re: Do you recommend particular Roofer?

Calling Brewster, MDM, and any other Jclist home improvement experts! Any tips for locating leaks on an asphalt roof?

I have a small leak coming through the ceiling of the unit two floors below the roof, i.e. there is no visible leak or dampness in the ceiling or walls of the apartment directly under the roof, instead the leak is coming through the ceiling of the apartment second from the top floor.

It only leaks when it rains hard, and usually with a 12+ hour delay, so if it rains hard tonight, tomorrow evening it will leak for a while through the roof of the ground floor unit. The leak isn't a huge amount, just enough to make the ceiling damp in that area.

I have opened up the ceiling where the leak is visible, and can see it dripping between floorboards from above. I can only think it is coming down inside the wall from roof and then running along floorboards and dripping down.

Initially I suspected a leak in the siding or from around the windows in the floor above, but I have checked those thoroughly, and sealed any gaps where water could possibly get in around windows.

The roof looks ok overall, so I am at a loss to know what to do. There is a chimney on that side of the roof, so going to double check the roof tar around that.

Cheers,
Robin.

Are you on the top floor? If you don't get water to come out when you bleed the radiator, then the pressure is probably too low on your boiler.

Assumming your client was riding on the sidewalk to be hit by a vehicle turning off of 440, which is a divided highway.

This is why bicycle riding on the siedwalk can be *more* dangerous than riding on the street, drivers don't expect fast moving bicycles to be moving across the crosswalk from the sidewalk, and so they get hit.

Terrible that the Teacher's Union gets to dictate how the school system is run, but me and most of the other parents in Jersey City weren't there tonight, and 150 teachers were, until enough of us make it a priority to oppose them, they get to run the show.

I've often wondered about this concept when I see cars parked facing the wrong way on 2 way streets. Clearly at some point they were driving on the wrong side of the road. I don't recall seeing it in JC, but there are places this is accepted culture.

At some point, several years after moving to the USA, I was surprised to be informed by friends that I would be ticketed if I parked facing against traffic.

In England there is no expectation cars will park facing with traffic, one way streets are far less common, and people park based on the direction they were driving up the road, they won't turn around to ensure they face with traffic.

Though a quick web-search shows me that in England it *is* illegal to park facing against traffic at night, the explanation being that it can be harder to see cars from the front at night as fronts of cars don't have reflectors. I have never heard of this being enforced in England however, it is universally flouted.

Nondowntown was eventually replaced by an equally prolific blowhard who is still around, sometimes I think it might be the same person, but other details differ too much.

Similarly, sometimes I think nick_riviera might be Vigilante based on his rabid anti-neighbourhood-association vitriol, but again too many differences, and Vigilante always had an element of sophistication and humour underneath his aggression.

Remember the Australian with the yellow avatar?
