I think it's quite amazing some of the responses I received here when I posted and kept current a completely unacceptable situation that occurred at an auto shop here in Jersey City. It is a post to notify the community of a real and present risk. If original posters do not occasionally re-up their post then it fades away. So news flash to the folks that don't get it... It's a numbers game. If you have a problem that you want to express to the community and you post it once and one time only, then only a few hundred people see it. Well if you re- post it then guess what a few thousand might see it... and out of those few thousand a greater number most likely might not go to that establishment....This is beneficial to public safety.. We all have a right to express issues especially when it comes to a provable near death experience....so next time..to those with a problem...why don't you consider some damn respect for neighbors looking out for neighbors. Stay safe everyone and please...if you have important public safety consumer-related issues to present; please continue to do so without fear of bullying from negative online presences. Amen!

Thank you! I'm actually beyond resilient...resilience is an understatement when it comes to my life story...but thanks and yes I am bitter, resentful, and if people piss me off then yes I hold a grudge. People roll over and take it...I don't. Enough is enough you see. I've let plenty of people get away with crap and I'm finally not letting it happen. And haha no public break down. Thanks though for looking out! Anyways, my claims are correct thankfully...and yes legal recourse has been in motion. I have photos, videos, police report etc. As mentioned earlier the owner tried to fix the car...by taking that action he also proved fault..he even said "this should never have happened"....but the re-hiring of the guy he fired crossed the line. So yes...hopefully Karma comes their way. I have a dream team of lawyers that are already hashing things out. Blessings to you!

Unfortunately you come across as someone who is bitter, resentful and with a grudge ... no resilience to speak of and heading for a public break-down.

If you don't want to use the legal process, complaining will fall on deaf ears ... At the moment it's your word against theirs without a legal judgment / result.

May I suggest to go and have a beer and put it all behind you ... especially with all your health issues ! If your claims are correct, maybe karma will come into play for the mechanic shop.

Also..,watch your language bro. I'm a cancer survivor and you prove yourself quite ridiculous to be talking like that. Have some manners. And I see you like to pick fights with people on here so you should really ask yourself why you feel the need. What are you missing in your life? Good luck to you...truly you need help. Amen

Hi everyone. I went out this weekend and not just once but twice neighbors called the police on the noise levels at a couple local bars. I won't name the bars...but they are ones that were here before these newbies even knew the words Jersey City. They are bars and it's the weekend. LMAO...you just admitted Al's sucks. It was a broken axle...he is a mechanic shop...duh! That's what they're supposed to do...fix broken things in cars...and there was no other structural damage..it was 100% caused by them...I have a lot of evidence. Multiple witnesses that saw their screw-up when looking through the evidence and my car...so buddy.....As clear as day, your tire analogy is completely off and actually you come off as the pathetic one to argue with someone who almost died as a direct result of a mechanich shop's negligence..and I have put in a claim smartypants..I can recommend great attorneys! Thanks for playing though lover ; ) Kisses. Thankfully most of the residents here have some class and don't mess with people that had horrible events happen to them. Anyway...I'll carry on letting the community know that there is a real risk going to A&M Auto Repair on 6th St in Jersey City. Anyway, see you at Starbucks ...xoxoxo

If my car had a broken axle, I wouldn't bring it to Ralph's Tire Repair - then moan and bitch about the fact they missed other structural damage.

Enjoy your mocha latte at Starbucks.

Nope. I won't let it go thanks though. I was a customer at the negligent shop and actually do not work at another autoshop. I'll continue to let the city and the residents know about it! Feel free to meet me at Starbucks wednesday nights from 8-9pm and I can explain why I won't let it go and evidence I don't work for a competitor... And in fact I don't bitch...I state the facts. Thanks for your concern though. You're sweet. Have a great night lover! The best to you too!

And seriously, if another person has something negative to say about my situation of almost dying...and the right I have to notify the community, then you too can meet me at Starbucks and I'll correct you again and again....

So far I only need to meet two of you wednesdays from 8-9p at the Starbucks Grove. Thankfully most of you actually care...unlike my two new lovers on here...lmao

Sadly, this issue of competent employees is a problem for many businesses, particularity contractors in my experience. I had a well regarded contractor do a tile bathroom that was identical to one he had done before excellently, and it was utter crap. Assuming it was an employee issue, it was also his failure to supervise, and maintain his standards. I cannot hire him again.

That said, I brought my 4 year old car to this place for a brake job, he called me and said I needed to see the situation that there was extensive rotor damage and the calipers were freezing up. He was very conscientious about it, and when I felt I should have he dealership look at it, he asked of me only $25 for his time, which was ridiculous.

I'll be bringing it to him again, since there are no obviously better choices, anyplace has this issue with employees. There was a well regarded shop on Newark at Brunswick (I think) that nearly killed a car for me by leaving a pulley loose after a timing belt change. Same problem, sloppy employee. Hiring a mechanic or contractor is always like throwing yourself off a cliff into the ocean and hoping a wave is covering the rocks when you hit.

Good for you dtjc...glad your experience is nice....However, it's not called trolling...it's called accountability. And yes, pep boys would have done better. I had multiple NY and NJ Licensed mechanics and lawyers confirm the complete and utter negligence of Al the owner and his employees and that in their entire careers they'd never seen something so bad. So honestly dude...you didn't almost die like I did..and if you did you'd be keeping your mouth wide open about the complete failure of this shop. So no homey... don't you troll. Ummm k. Buh bye. I'm not going to go back and forth about this. I will continue to let the community know that a real risk is present at A&M Auto on 6th St in Jersey City. If you got a further problem feel free to meet me Wednesday nights from 8-9pm at the Grove Starbucks and we can discuss in details how it's not trolling...every week if you want!

Quote:

I've 83000 miles on my car, that's been maintained by this shop for the past 12 years or so. No problems. If you have a clunker with a broken axle - probably not the best place to bring it. But trolling a pretty good local repair shop isn't cool. Do you think Pepboys would have done a better job?

Long story short ---> Rewind to this summer....His employees are so negligent they drink on the job while the boss is away and fracture your lower control arm while replacing an axle; unknown to you the driver....until your axle snaps out of the transmission causing your wheel to get lodged under the car while in the left lane of a 4 lane highway on July 4th travel weekend; 13 miles out and one hour after they "fixed" it. Yeah you're right!-I'm lucky to be alive!....By absolute luck, my mother watching over me, other aware drivers, and my impeccable driving and ability to maintain control of a vehicle that was literally jumping up and down smacking against the road; all this with a dangerous to use and aggresively bouncing steering wheel. Incredibly having not flipped over, spun out, having just missed a highway sign after making it 4 lanes over to the right, and at the last second finally turning the wheel left on mud and grass as you are about to go into trees that were hiding a ravine way down below the tree line. Hallelujah you're alive! Upon fear of a lawsuit and reviews such as this one; the car is "fixed" again this time by the owner after firing the drunken wannabe mechanic..Having tried to move on for months..you fast forward to this past week when you see the same negligent "mechanic" hired to work there again by a more reckless and negligent owner. Amen. Don't go to them...if it happened once...and to quote the owner verbatim.."this should never have happened".....the likelihood is greater going to A&M Auto that it will happen again. Hence...AVOID. Thanks for listening!

Love,

Your local Mario Andretti ; )

Drivers here are dangerous yes....but it must be noted that there are some very very stupid pedestrians in Jersey City that don't even use crosswalks etc. I always stop for pedestrians and the amount of no waves I get makes me really want to continue driving without stopping anymore. Oh and the mothers with strollers who seemingly wait for the green to walk across traffic when they had ample time to cross when the cars had red...or the idiots who don't even look up from their phone.... Wake up world....it takes two to tango! And for the guy hitting cars....I feel ya but you are asking to get shot. This ain't Disney Land dude!

The OP here! Down with OP-P...Yeah you know me! I'd rather be an Original Poster than an Original Poser...Just saying...hahaha.

Wow....this was quite the hot topic : ) ....Nice to see that we all mostly agree on this subject.

Few clarifications...my "literacy" and intelligence is without question or comment...the critiques of my post fall flat - just because I said "historic". Using the "electronic" conversion of the bells to back up your point makes no sense....Bells are bells and they came from an old historic church...regardless if they were blaring techno out of the church it's still historic. And bells were silenced. Period. I know for a fact that there were complaints.

Also we're talking about bars, the police, and neighbors here....it's not rocket science so it's automatically an unintelligent post. With some of the poor grammar and illiteracy I've seen over the years on JClist...my post doesn't even compare.

Moving on...I do agree though I over generalized....sorry about that.....to clarify SOME of the newbies....and THOSE who complain. There we go : )

Also, I agree if the patrons are causing trouble on the street then bust them : ) By the way, everyone's beloved Porta Pizza had a brawl last weekend! Not some of these other older bars. So it's in fact some of the new establishments and their patrons that are more problematic than the ones having the police stop by. Ha...The Music Box of course is it's own thing...No one is defending that place! hahaha

Thanks guys! Glad though for the most part everyone agreed. To quote Jim Carrey in The Truman Show-----"...In case I don't see ya, good afternoon, good evening, and good night!"

Stay safe and cool my JC people : )

I do agree with you overall though. With cities come douches...sucks. For sure if it's your stoop call it in...I'm just tired of all the changes. It was nice here when it wasn't nice here. ....when walking home from grove didn't look like Manhattan : (

Once again, thanks all. Just was asking because I've lived places where when you call in a noise complaint, nothing happens, so not sure if anyone had any experience.

And, yeah, the whole "it's a city" argument is kind of lame. I get that this is a city, I expect to hear noises and people at night. But what I don't need to hear on a weeknight is a bunch of drunk underage college students doing kegstands like we're in the backyard of a frathouse till the sun comes up.
