Hi everyone. I went out this weekend and not just once but twice neighbors called the police on the noise levels at a couple local bars. I won't name the bars...but they are ones that were here before these newbies even knew the words Jersey City. They are bars and it's the weekend. You are wasting the police's time to have them come in for a second asking people to be quiet which doesn't even work...because it's a bar!! Geeee...let me buy a home in proximity of a bar and then complain that the bar is making too much noise....on the weekend! What is wrong with you rats? Holy moly! Get a life! Wow!

I also want to add that the new residents complained about the gorgeous church bells that rung on 6th and Monmouth. That was a beautiful aspect to this area and the newbies complained so much that a church now cannot ring their bells! Their Church Bells!!! Who the heck doesn't like church bells! I'm Jewish and I even love the pretty historic noise they make!

JC Make It Yours...yeah I don't think so! It was everyone's before these douches moved in! Whaaaa the bars make noise...whaaa the church rings it's bells...whaaa whaaa whaaaa...go back to Manhattan or wherever you came from! Holy mackerel

- Blue Iris: http://blueirissoftware.com/ - you need to be tech savv. Set up your own server...

I'm pretty sure that liquor licensing laws would state it is illegal to serve patrons that are intoxicated or even appear intoxicated ... if I'm right, then we shouldn't have any 'drunks' on the streets at closing time or anytime at all in the plaza ! Police could issue penalties or even suspend / cancel their licence (if they wanted) to bars and restaurants if anyone does walk out of their premises drunk !

Hi folks! Welcome to Jersey City. Please take some time to get acquainted with local community organizations. Spread the wealth! Donate and/or volunteer today!

Here are a few philanthropic options for you all:

- St. Lucy's Shelter (Donate directly or help feed those in need)
- Go Get My Kids, Inc. (Recreational activities for the diverse youth of Jersey City)
- Christ the King Church (Local church on Ocean Ave.)

These are all fantastic organizations and I recommend taking a further look.

*Please feel free to add to this list and let's all get to work on making Jersey City an even better community. Thanks!

Drivers here are dangerous yes....but it must be noted that there are some very very stupid pedestrians in Jersey City that don't even use crosswalks etc. I always stop for pedestrians and the amount of no waves I get makes me really want to continue driving without stopping anymore. Oh and the mothers with strollers who seemingly wait for the green to walk across traffic when they had ample time to cross when the cars had red...or the idiots who don't even look up from their phone.... Wake up world....it takes two to tango! And for the guy hitting cars....I feel ya but you are asking to get shot. This ain't Disney Land dude!

Its really sad to see how people can behave like such pigs - I don't like to stereotype generally, but I can't help but think it's the "crowd" from the other side of the highway...

The OP here! Down with OP-P...Yeah you know me! I'd rather be an Original Poster than an Original Poser...Just saying...hahaha.

Wow....this was quite the hot topic : ) ....Nice to see that we all mostly agree on this subject.

Few clarifications...my "literacy" and intelligence is without question or comment...the critiques of my post fall flat - just because I said "historic". Using the "electronic" conversion of the bells to back up your point makes no sense....Bells are bells and they came from an old historic church...regardless if they were blaring techno out of the church it's still historic. And bells were silenced. Period. I know for a fact that there were complaints.

Also we're talking about bars, the police, and neighbors here....it's not rocket science so it's automatically an unintelligent post. With some of the poor grammar and illiteracy I've seen over the years on JClist...my post doesn't even compare.

Moving on...I do agree though I over generalized....sorry about that.....to clarify SOME of the newbies....and THOSE who complain. There we go : )

Also, I agree if the patrons are causing trouble on the street then bust them : ) By the way, everyone's beloved Porta Pizza had a brawl last weekend! Not some of these other older bars. So it's in fact some of the new establishments and their patrons that are more problematic than the ones having the police stop by. Ha...The Music Box of course is it's own thing...No one is defending that place! hahaha

Thanks guys! Glad though for the most part everyone agreed. To quote Jim Carrey in The Truman Show-----"...In case I don't see ya, good afternoon, good evening, and good night!"

Stay safe and cool my JC people : )

I do agree with you overall though. With cities come douches...sucks. For sure if it's your stoop call it in...I'm just tired of all the changes. It was nice here when it wasn't nice here. ....when walking home from grove didn't look like Manhattan : (

Once again, thanks all. Just was asking because I've lived places where when you call in a noise complaint, nothing happens, so not sure if anyone had any experience.

And, yeah, the whole "it's a city" argument is kind of lame. I get that this is a city, I expect to hear noises and people at night. But what I don't need to hear on a weeknight is a bunch of drunk underage college students doing kegstands like we're in the backyard of a frathouse till the sun comes up.

This is a CITY! If you all don't like noise then get out of here and move to the suburbs. Holy crap bunch of white yuppies are taking over. Long live Paco (RIP) and Taco! You all should be more concerned with the disgusting air pollution here and the constant bombardment of development and the noise that brings. Wake up people!

4th/5th st between Coles and Monmouth-Attempted Burglaries Via Rooftops

Hello folks! Tonight around 8:30pm there were attempted break-ins through the rooftops in the area of 4th/5th Streets between Monmouth & Coles. The perp was a white male in his mid twenties who was also literally a crackhead running barefoot from rooftop to rooftop and jumping off ledges...He was peering into windows as well looking for escape routes through people's homes!...He was ultimately cornered on top of the nice church on 5th street where he damaged the cross. Thanks to quick acting neighbors he had no place to run and thanks to the police he was taken into custody! So heads up folks! Stay safe! As the temps rise, so do crimes! If we all band together like we all did tonight, we can stop these criminals!

I agree, but this discussion has been beaten to death in this thread. Candice Osbourne came here and agreed that the recent law effectively banning food trucks downtown was very problematic and needed reform.

The other day someone made a comment that there would be a reading of a new "food truck ordinance" at the City Council meeting but I can't find any information on it. Is it the reform that Candice agreed we need? Will it allow food trucks back in the Grove Street Plaza? I can't tell and didn't see any articles.

Rustique.....more like Mustique! I was a loyal customer till one day, he gave me a pie that was so underdone you could still taste the egg in the dough.....Not only that but I would have gotten seriously ill had I eaten a salad he gave to me that had one pretty layer of fresh salad on top, then disgusting rotted salad that filled 3/4ths of the rest of take out container. Clearly on purpose. You see I'd Yelp these things however I don't want to help destroy their business...since they do a good enough job on their own! Adios!
