Looking to see what the legal minimum temperature should be. Landlord is being shady about the lack of hot water.

Unless this is the same dog that shits all over downtown JC, I don't see how this post is relevant to our community.

Thanks, that's good to hear. We don't have a car and so have to get everywhere by foot. Hoping that at least a coffee shop or small grocery shop pops up one of these days.

You need a car living around that area. I am not trying to be cynical but it is NOT safe especially after dark if you walk around. All it takes is 1 unlucky encounter to ruin your life. Majority of the people living in the beacon zooms in and out in their car/jitney to downtown jersey city.

Your description of the area around The Beacon as "unsafe" is rather funny. The area is just fine. I've walked that area at all areas and there is almost never anyone on the street.

I doubt that you've actually been in that area at any point in the last couple of years.

oh geez not you again, i am not going to waste time engaging you anymore in your reality distorting fantasies. You live in your own lala land.

I lived in jersey city for 10+ years, know the area very well. Readers can make up their own minds if that area outside of the beacon is safe or not.

Living in a large city doesn't mean you know each area intimately. You, obviously, know nothing about the area surrounding the Beacon despite your claims.

Engage in discussion or not, it doesn't matter. You lie when calling the area dangerous. I'm simply calling you out on it.

You can get real cheap street hookers on the back end of the block the Beacon is on. Cornelison and Fairmont. Totally safe area. I'm sure they draw the best and the brightest to the neighborhood.

If it was about "LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION", how did this spike in development and increase in population not happen 20 yrs ago? Did JC just recently get closer to NYC?

I'd love to meet the realtor that sold you on JC being quiet. Sounds like that person could sell sand at the beach.

People who are confident in their product don't complain about competition. That being said, Two Boots should take their crappy, overly spiced tomato sauce back to NYC and Bistro should take a community college class in business 101.

Allowing something like that cheapens the meaning of it. His family and friends can mourn at his wake, just like the rest of us get when we go.

I can't agree more with the mayors decision to remove it. And I applaud him saying it was "his" decision. By making that statement, he is saying something to the effect of "don't blame those that you see removing it, its on me."

And for those that say this is infringing on freedom of speech, I would counter with "Well, it was taken down because it was litter. Decent people want a clean JC."

The one on Jersey and York (headed south) is especially dangerous. Its completely obscured by a tree.

Funny how we can say adding more stop signs is a dangerous thing and be totally right. Only in JC.

Lets be honest though, people don't pay attention to stop signs they already know exist.

Please do. Every murder needs to be addressed. And if you could quote every time someone says Fulop is God, that information would be helpful as well. I wasn't at the inauguration, but if anyone has any evidence of water into wine or sighting the blind...

2 bands at Lucky 7s Sat night, 5 at the Bike Ward Tour Sun. Also, let's not forget Groove on Grove every week. While the city does lack a proper venue, the music is there if you look for it.

There is "no reason" for lots of things in this world. But the simple answer is it was probably zoned for it, built as such and that's the way it will stay.

No parking means no parking. You weren't ever allowed to park there, so you have neither gained nor lost anything.

The same guy still owns 58, so you can talk to him about your concerns with the way it has been kept.

Thank you for sharing that link. The video is no longer available but based on the stills I'm almost certain that he is leaving my building. I'm going to print out the stills and have the detective working on it take a look at them. I haven't seen the video from my burglary (I'm new and figured I wasn't going to recognize anyone) but now I'm really curious to take a look at the person. Also, really concerned this happened last year as well.

Get used to it. That's my stuff under that guys arm. It was the 3rd or 4th robbery in that building in the 5 years I lived there.

In every case, the thief was able to get through the locked front door.

Best part was the landlords reaction "Weird. When people get robbed here, its usually when they are moving in or out."

USUALLY?!

Shocking that the police didn't respond to a noise complaint.

Are these neighbors scary to you? Have you tried talking to them?

Some of my best neighborhood friends have come from opening up a dialogue about a dumb thing I/they did. The police really have better things to do.

Pardon my confusion.

Your neighbor is smoking with the windows open, but it's getting into your apartment. Are we to assume the smoke is reaching your apartment through your open window?

If so, you might want to get a box fan and put it in your window, facing out, allowing air from the seams in your front door to displace the smoke-laden air in your space. I can't imagine how much smoke could possibly find its way from one apartment, out a window, through the aether of the outdoors atmosphere, and into your window that it would be the source of a significant quality of life issue, unless you're very sensitive to the smell of smoke, which I guess is possible.

You could try talking to your neighbor, if you haven't done so already. While going over his/her head to management to bitch about stuff could be perceived as a lack of decency and/or respect and doesn't put you in the best position to bang on the door and ask for favors, being a decent human being and going face-to-face with someone you have an issue with can go a very long way towards resolving differences.

P.S.: Is "multiunit managed apartment building" realtor code for "priapic douchebag highrise"? If so, please update us on every development, minor or not.

Definitely talk to your neighbor first. I'm sure something could be worked out in a friendly manner.

Second. "Priapic"! I had to look that one up. Well done!

When people bring out the giant rat, isn't it because non-union people are doing jobs that people are supposed to be in a union to do?

I dont think it has anything to do with one company winning a bid over another.

I've had friends find their car weeks after it was stolen because they started receiving notices for unpaid parking tickets. Maybe the parking Authority can tell you if any parking tickets have been issued using your license plate.

Just a thought.
