The website says opening in April 2009 with 70 taps and 100 bottles.
Anyone know the exact location?

I'm kinda hoping they extend their beer selection to include some Belgian beers as well. The countries do share a little border.
I know its not traditional either but a few domestic IPAs on tap would be amazing!

I don't think it will be anything like the Sandbar, which is basically a club.
Sandbar Clientele (excluding the weekend afternoons and happy hour) only goes to places that play dance music, serve corona and testtube shots, and that have a fog machine. A beer garden has none of the above. So I think it is safe to say that Zeppelin Hall will not be anything like the Sandbar. I also did some investigatory work via google and that guy is/was also the manager at Bohemian Hall in Astoria! story about argento and bohemian hall I'm hoping its like Bohemian Hall circa 4 or 5 years ago, before it became too crowded and a basically a tourist attraction. I haven't been there in over a year but I remember getting pitchers of hoegaarden for $14.

Well you just burst my bubble - let's hope Zeppelin Hall is nothing like the Sand Bar.

I don't know if this is old news or not, but there is now a web site (a placeholder) for this place: http://www.zeppelinhall.com/. The domain is registered to John Argento, who is referenced in the NYT as the owner of the Sand Bar.

I can understand having a preference, but comparing Belgian ales to German lagers is apples and oranges. Apples aren't "better" than oranges, they're different. Admittedly, the beers I'm most crazy for are Belgian (especially gueuze), but I also love German styles which are excellent in their own right. In all fairness, the other day I made the case for Belgian beers at the protest of a German individual who stands by the Reinheitsgebot as the measure of a "proper" beer. I respect the tradition, but I don't agree there should be any strict definitions of what beer is supposed to be. But yeah, Orval is a great beer? drank one last night actually. Brettanomyces is a wonderful yeast, funky and addictive!

Since I go to Belgium for work a few times a year, here's my list of favorite Belgian beers (it's not Germany, but honestly I think overall Belgian beers are better:
La Chouffe Chimay Triple Duvel Orvel Hoegarden Delirium Tremens Leffe Blonde And I'll mention my favorite Japanese beer, Hitachino Nest Beer and Hitachino White Ale. These also have by far the best graphic design (IMO) of any beer bottle.

Zeppelin Hall is the Beer garden going in the bottom of the tallest building in the Liberty Harbor development. The website says its going to be a restaurant too. I guessing the food will be of the german variety, but who knows it could be a mix. It is supposed to be opening this spring. I'm not sure what beer they will be serving either but I am getting thirsty just thinking about it.

chill out with the anti-Italian sentiment. I hope that Vinnie finds you again and punches your fat face once again for being obnoxious as usual. It would be great if we could put the beer place in the church next to Beechwood. Anyone want to help me buy it?

Add Anchor Bock to the list - just came out last week in this area - only available in the Spring. Great beer! Shop-Rite liquors in Hoboken has it.

Robt: Shiner can be found outside of Texas. Rodeo Bar in NYC carries it in bottles, and a few years back I had it on draft at a bar in Newark, Delaware. I just finished the last of the 6 pack I brought back with me when I was in Houston for Christmas. ho hum

Skinner's Loft on Newark usually has a really nice selection on tap, including Fuller's ESB, and some variety of LaChouffe.
Last time I was there they had Aventinus on tap - delicious
