Re: Thirty Acres Restaurant- Jersey Avenue

Went there a couple weeks ago. The wait was 30 minutes, but we just went next door to pick out a wine.

Everything was delicious and more than I expected.
The Cavatelli with chicken liver sauce and mint was my personal favorite . It paired perfectly with a Rioja wine.

We also had a sushi appetizer, I forget which, but it was also executed very well.

Lastly, the lemon bar was a delicious ending.

The portions are a nice size: not too much and not too little.

My girlfriend and I left full but not stuffed, and buzzed but not drunk....great night!

If you want strict residential zoning & silence move to the burbs! This is a city, noise is inevitable, whether its your neighbors sex-a-thon, kids crying all the time, or some german dudes playing the tuba...

My favorite quote from that article. Makes me feel like Nostradamus. "They are so much smaller in real life," said Luis Martinez, who waited with his daughter, Nicole, 11, for the two to arrive. "She loves watching the show, she wants to be like Snooki."

It was mentioned in 30 rock, season 6, episode 2.

Jack Donaghy says to Liz, regarding her new boyfriend: " where does he live? how bad can it be? .... with his parents? Jersey City?... Brooklyn?"

I respect the drivers who speed up when they see you crossing. I can understand speeding up to catch the light if its yellow, but not when it just turned green.
I have encountered this numerous times when crossing Columbus by Jersey and by the PATH.

Maybe their goal is to add a bit of excitement to the mundane life of a 'suit'...or to take us out slowly by causing spikes in our blood pressure.

Alright well to get back on topic. I've been there 3 times and the Zeppelin Hall crowd feels like home for me. It's a great non-threatening crowd, no overly obnoxious or loud individuals...just happy people enjoying their beer and sausage buzz.

While I want the business to do well so it can stay open, I also like it just the way it is right now: mostly locals and busy, but not too busy. I even wouldn't mind if they stayed in the 'soft opening' mode for a year or two. THat's probably why seeing it slightly understaffed makes me happy.

My experience with the chlorine smell is random; sometimes its there, sometimes its not. My girlfriend always smells it.

Can it be healthy to be drinking that much chlorine?

I really hope the screens will be silent. I can't stand the PA announcements, now this noise violation. Putting them in the cars is excessive, especially in this economy. Moreover, How am I supposed to read during my commute?!

The Path hardly gets any advertising now, I do not think this is the answer.

I'm kinda hoping they extend their beer selection to include some Belgian beers as well. The countries do share a little border.
I know its not traditional either but a few domestic IPAs on tap would be amazing!

I don't think it will be anything like the Sandbar, which is basically a club.

Sandbar Clientele (excluding the weekend afternoons and happy hour) only goes to places that play dance music, serve corona and testtube shots, and that have a fog machine.
A beer garden has none of the above. So I think it is safe to say that Zeppelin Hall will not be anything like the Sandbar.

I also did some investigatory work via google and that guy is/was also the manager at Bohemian Hall in Astoria!
story about argento and bohemian hall

I'm hoping its like Bohemian Hall circa 4 or 5 years ago, before it became too crowded and a basically a tourist attraction. I haven't been there in over a year but I remember getting pitchers of hoegaarden for $14.

For some reason I don't think cameras would accomplish much in that area.

It would be sad if the J.J. goes. The star-ledger just isn't the same, even if it had a section for Hudson county.

I would especially miss the J.J. article titles.

Has anyone else seen the possibly homeless guy on the path trains to 33rd st from JSQ? He asks for money and says "Thank God" or soemthing. Everytime I have taken the train around 7:30 pm, he is on it.

Does anyone know his story? I feel bad, but I don't want to give him money untill I know what his story is.
