It bugs me enough when politicans do this loudspeaker thing in the days leading up to an election (yes, enough to change my vote), but to start a full month ahead is just unacceptable.

As I sat at the merchant eating brunch I saw Frank's truck drive by. The noise didn't bother me much. There were several comments on the street about how crazy he is after it went by. I did find it funny that he was hollering out something to the effect that "all the rich people are moving in and they want to displace the poor". While I agree with his sentiment to a degree it was pretty funny for him to be screaming this out on Grove Street amongst the high end clothing and home goods boutiques, restaurants, and the newly spawned star bucks.

Maybe someone can get some of this on tape and post it - or maybe Frank himself would like to post a sound bite.

I agree, at least with that truck we can "break out dancing in the streets."

We were walking all over town today and it was everywhere we went. I felt like the vehicle was following us. I could not understand what they were saying over the loudspeaker, it was just weird.

Ugh, this bothers me. I try to brush it off as a fact of urban life, but, it's true, he wouldn't get my vote - as an earlier poster said, if he doesn't care about my interests now, what will he do in office?

As for it being "truly a Jersey City moment," unfortunately there were also a lot of these moments in Newark, where I lived before this.

It is truly a Jersey City moment. I say laugh and enjoy it regardless if it is a holiday or not. I heard a reference to WWI and WWII! - All within my one block.

And isn't there some kind of rule against noise pollution?

Frank the pizza guy just drove by my house blasting his recording say he wants to take action now. Take action now?!!
Maybe he should start by taking action and cleaning up that pigsty his pizzeria is located on called Monmouth St!

I'm sure it wasn't intentional, but I found it totally disrespectful that the sound trucks were used on the High Holy days; Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Before you send the folks out campaigning, take a peek at the calender.
You should never campaign like that during any religious holiday.

IMO I always found this type of use of the sound trucks annoying and if you must use them, at least spend the $$$ and play a tape that has been done professionally and not some over zealous person screaming at the top of their lungs and doing this over loud music....it's just plain tacky!

This goes for ANY and ALL politicians~

First off, this jerkoff has no permit for a sound truck on record with the clerk. He circled my block trying to antagonize some other idiot who was yelling at him to shut the F___ up.

Anyone who thinks that this B.S. will work downtown is just to stupid to even consider. What's next a thousand pole signs and bumper stickers plastered all over the streets.

Starting your campaign by breaking the law with an illegal sound truck is not to bright. Then again he might just fit in real well with the current City Hall Crew.

Assuming it really is him and it's not just speculation...................

For someone who is a lifelong resident, Frank should know how annoying stuff like that plays. Even if he were the most eminently qualified candidate, it would still annoy people enough not to vote for him.

Off-point but related in principle, this is also why there are some establishments around here that I won't patronize --- because they have some kid throw a handful of their promotional materials on front steps --- materials that then proceed to blow all over the street (White Star Bar being the biggest offender that comes to mind).

Obviously, the White Star is doing just fine without my business -- as is Frank's pizza place ---- but I'll take my dollars elsewhere until they start showing a little respect for their own neighborhood.

Holy crap that's him? Heard him drive by my house twice the other day. It's a little jarring to be screamed at from a SUV and not being able to understand a damn word.
