Oh my Gosh, lady where are you from? I'd really like to know. Why did you move here? Not only are you coming across as being ingnorant and racist, but really, drug dealers? What do you think this is 1985? This makes me laugh like the people who see sneakers on telephone wires and think that is some sort of a drug dealer sign. I assure you I could walk right down your street and show you the houses, corners and places where there are legitimate illegal activities going on right under your noise and you probably don't even realize it. Yet, you pick on and frown upon older men who are really just "hanging out" watching the world pass by. Yes, maybe some have substance abuse problems, and or other problems, so I guess since you have moved in we should get rid of them? Who the hell are you?

I've travelled throughout the world, and every country on every continent I've been to has elderly men who choose (and it is their right) to "hang out" in public where they wish. Unfortunately in this country we don't have plazas which would serve as a public meeting place for them.

And for the one who chooses to walk their baby on the opposite side of the street, c'mon, are you serious? You're probably the same selfish person who takes their damn baby stroller which is the size of an SUV into a small bodega or store so none of the other stroller-less customers can move around. Selfish, selfish, selfish.

(why parents need these bohemoth strollers is beyond me! But I guess this could be another topic)

Long time JC resident. Fairly ugly statue that is out of place and was erected to get votes. Would love to see it moved to somewhere more appropriate, like Poland, or at least not the center of the downtown district.

There are 235,000+ long time residents who don't want this statue. Keep the 2,000 hipsters who want to keep this statue in place from taking over this town. Thank you.

As I person who had relatives that died during the Katyn massacre, how dare you degrade the meaning behind this statue. I wish you could tell how you feel to my relatives, but they're dead - died for no reason by people who are/were as ignorant as you seem to be. I'm horrified at your thoughts. What is next, holocaust memorials?

Charter schools - Every student that I have worked with who has come from a charter school lacks all basic skills and social skills necessary to excel in most environments. It astonishes me that people actually still support charter schools. Every time a student transfers from one, you can bet that they will be at least one or two grades below where they should be. This is from what I observed, from my own experience, and I'm sure there will be hundreds who are going to jump down my throat, ask me for my credentials, etc. Be that as it may, that is all for now.

Stabbed during robbery attempt

A 21-year-old Jersey City man was stabbed while fending off two robbers early Tuesday morning, according to police reports.

Jersey City police were called to the Jersey City Medical Center on a report that a stab victim had walked into the hospital for treatment, reports said.

They met the New Street resident, who told them he was walking on Storms Avenue toward Monticello Avenue at about 3 a.m., when two people jumped him from behind and demanded money, reports said.

He fought back, but fled when one of them stabbed him in the right forearm, he told police.

He then got into his car and drove himself to the hospital, where he was treated, reports said.

CHARLES HACK

Where or how is this near to St. Peters College ??

Why the hell are people on jclist so quick to jump on someone when they get the geographical location wrong? It seems like such a minor point to make. The fact of the matter is that it happened in JC, and the same resources used to patrol that area of JC comes from the same resource pool that patrols your area. Stick to the facts of the matter people......

Yes, this should be a free ticket to beat the piss out of anyone who can't act and function normally in society without causing terror, pain, fear and suffering on innocent others who don't deserve this. Vigilantism? Sure, why not?

People, it's rather simple, (and I might add a wonderful policy) It's because police cars, fire trucks and ambulances were getting stuck behind traffic caused by garbage trucks. I can't believe people would complain about this, for christ sake, ITS A CITY! But I guess if YOU were in the need of emergency assistance................

Stop your annoying stupidity. Get a job. Seriously, what do you do all day? If you think the mayor has soooo.... much direct control over crime then why don't you run Mr. Icechute? Please tell us, why don't you run? You need to stop the incessant postings you contribute, none of which (I might add) will change a damn thing.
I wish I could drop you into downtown JC 15 years ago where you live now........then tell me if crime is down - Moron!

Ok, it was a stabbing, (police told a merchant) - people fighting, I watched the crime scene unfold from my window, (the BCI unit, I think they call it here) yellow cones, photos, then the jcfd went into the bodega on the corner, bought bleach, put it in what looked like an old exterminator cylinder, and sprayed the blood, (there was much... a trail - from around the corner on 2nd to Brunswick then out onto the street) it is now drying in the cold winter sun. Have a great weekend everyone!

{When I lived in the city I witnessed those kids selling candy on the train for their "basketball uniforms"}

That didn't seem to be the implication. If they are just asking for money .....well then that's different. However, unfortunately it is the sign of the times, and I'm afraid it's most likely just the beginning.......once again though, seems like a pointless concern and complaint with everything else going on -that's all.

Really, and this bothers you???!!!! Kids trying to make an honest buck? I happen to know that the majority of these kids are just trying to do what any other human has been genetically programmed to do - survive. Shame on you if this is an issue that you find bothersome, with all the trouble in this world, you get disturbed by children selling candy. Furthermore, thank god it's not crummy girl scout cookies sold by spoiled daughters of cheating adulterer CEO's. Long live street chocolate, and the working class! Now excuse me while I go eat a peanut butter cup. Enjoy the weather kids!
