I saw someone from Vegas Grill stapling signs up all the eff over Wayne Street and Grove yesterday, numerous flyers on each tree. I tweeted city hall about it. This morning when I passed several of them they had fluorescent dicks drawn on them. Gave me a good chuckle.

The A-1 guys put up signs on their old space that said you can find them across the street at Stella's. The Vegas Grill folks tore those signs down and put up their own that said "Hey, go to our place instead!" Then those were torn down and replaced with the "A-1 guys are at Stella's" signs. Can't wait to see what those are replaced with...

Were they pointing towards Stella's, or pointing towards Vegas Grill?

When I saw the sign I was a bit puzzled. I came to the same conclusion as you. It's like dancing on someone's grave.

smart restaurant and deli owners should own their space, if possible

In my 13 years in Jersey City, I don't think I ever saw A1 deli closed once! It was a real shock when I saw it was closed for good. These guys really worked hard!

I saw a sign that said something along the lines of A1 customers can now go to Vegas Grill. Not sure if it's a partnership or something?

I'd imagine that just like Hard Grove Cafe, their landlord jacked the rent up and A1 couldn't afford it anymore.

Has nothing to do with money. Do you know her ? She actually did quite well there. I won't attempt to explain the reason, but it was out of her hands , and like most situations if you don't own your place you are F'd.

This is a shame. When I worked downtown, I used to go there a lot for a decent sandwich. I only get there every now and again. I hope they find less expensive digs or a way to increase their customer base.

All A1 deli needs is more customers to pay for overheads and their survival, not a new location!

Given all the chatter about Pizzatown, I figured I would let folks know that one of the only true Sandwich places is closing soon.
A1 Deli has a 4 star rating on Yelp with 46 reviews.

I suggest one of the many not so well to do delis on Newark, offer up their space to A1.

Seriously, could we have more bad delis on Newark Ave?
