I need to modify my post. If the man who looks like Captain Kangaroo is alone at Europa, you might have a very hard time explaining what you want. At least I do.

- Moussakka at Gypsy Grill
- Peanut Curry w/Veg at More - Peanut/Avocado & Veggie Roll, also at More - Veggie Burger at Subias Before I stopped eating animals I used to love the Lobster BLT at Skinners and the Mac & Cheese at Marco & Pepe. Fish tacos at Taqueria were also amazing. Surprisingly, I don't miss the dishes at all since I've found plenty of non-animal dishes that I also adore!

Kebab roll at Shadman or Shah Taj on Grove St.
Not on the menu, but ask for any of their kebabs on a Nan with some salad. Great bite! Dumplings at Duckys. Hot Sausages from the guy outside Barcade. Pork Tacos from Taqueria.

I absolutely second the ricotta gnocchi and white beans at Satis.
I am utterly OBSESSED with the butter poached lobster gnocchi at the Lighthorse. And the simple garlic shrimp at Marco and Pepe. I used to love the Galbi short rib taco from the Krave truck, but the meat doesn't seem very short-ribby anymore.

I'm crazy about the vegetarian duck curry at Sawadee. Such a delicious blend.
If I'm in a comfort food mood, nothing beats the Downtown Pancake Wrap at the Brownstone Diner.

I wasn't going to add another reply, but since you mentioned pierogies. It's not a restaurant but I think Europa belongs here, and has already been mentioned.
The house-made pierogies and polska kielbasa sausage at Europa are awesome. The owners have really revitalized that place. Good rye there too.

just had the goat cheese perogies last night at Hamilton Inn, they were pretty exceptional.
I second everything said regarding tacqueria, marco and pepe, and skinners loft. also kraverie does a damn good job.

I love the wontons in the wonton soup at The Box. Thanks to other posters for their suggestions; I'm not sure I would try the mussels at La Conguita without their endorcements.
I also love the garlic studded ham at Europa and that you can have nitrate free bacon cut to your preferred thickness.

My favs in no particular order:

Lobster Ravioli from Buon Appetito. 5. Shish kebab from Gipsy Grill. 6. Any seafood soup from Nha Trang Place. Most you can order for delivery using delivery.com.

Another vote for the pork/carnitas taco at Taqueria. Can't eat just one.
Also, the pork medalions with cherry peppers at Laico's. Finally, Just about anything they care to serve at Skinner's Loft

Thought I'd throw this out there. What is your single favorite and/or a surprisingly good dish in JC?
I'd have to go with the Jalapeno Mussels appetizer at La Conguita. It's a ridiculously good and super cheap.
