Re: Anyone have trouble getting a dog license in JC?

Yes, it's a horrible system. But it seems to make perfect sense to them

One way is to sync up with their May cycle by getting an extra shot. I've also gotten the 3-year vaccine, but it still didn't sync up with their 3-year May cycle, so I could only get the license issued annually.

I'm also sorry to say that I've also had license lapses because of their crazy system.

Once, I had a senior dog, who had gotten the 3-year vaccine in May, so I applied for the 3-year license and they made sure to inform me that I could not get a refund if the dog died before the license expired. :\

I've been using Resnick's for many years for chair and table rentals. They deliver and pick up, if you need. They have been very reliable. http://www.resnicksrentals.com/

FYI, we had a frozen pipe burst this morning. We called Byron Hutchinson (I think we woke him up), and he was there right away. Price was totally reasonable and he fixed us up quickly. We're going to have him back to permanently fix the problem by moving the chilly pipes.

I've got one:

I went to the All About Downtown street festival a couple of weeks ago. I was carrying my license and cash in a small leather sleeve. I sauntered about 75 feet into the crowd, browsing booths and realized I no longer had the sleeve. I turned around and slowly retraced my steps, through the crowd and the several blocks back to my house. At my house, there was a JC cop standing on my stoop, ringing my doorbell. He had the sleeve and all my cash! He said another cop had found it and he was dispatched to return it.

This is great news. I've bought scallops and salmon from their stand several times. Always excellent. But no, not cheap.

They have a website http://www.jcfishstand.com/ and a facebook page. They do not list prices.

I also have been loving and buying their almond cookies since they opened. I bought a pound of them yesterday to take to a dinner party, and i was raving about them, but they were hard as rocks. I was really embarrassed. Guests were saying they 'were really tasty', but they were only being polite. It was sad.

I (female) run at 5:30. I feel safe on the waterfront (and I get to see the sun rise) and through the downtown streets. As it gets darker, I don't really like going over the foot bridge alone. One reason is there are a lot of skunks in the park and they've caught me off-guard. And some of them don't seem right (rabid).

I've never been hit by a car.

I also run with a dog and without headphones.

There's also the Offshore Sailing School in LSP. I took beginner classes there and enjoyed it, although I didn't take the training further. It was a week-long course and was a nice stay-cation.

When that's done, take a stroll down Newark ave and stop in barcade for a game of frogger. Then you can head to the keyhole for some cheap jamo. Then have some more cheap jamo. As a matter of fact, just keep drinking jamo until Hollywood fried chicken sounds appetizing and then you can fill up on chicken and fries. Bonus: you can order just one rib! Your welcome.

Nominated for least-helpful reply this year...

And it's "You're welcome", not "Your welcome". You obviously aren't married (or at least not happily) because you don't seem to get the idea of wanting to take your wife out for a fun night. Maybe he has young children and a babysitter lined up and just wants to have a little private time with his wife out on the town.
...

Bar is your call; lot's of choices.

irish: I thought you were funny. :) Except I don't know what 'jamo' is.

jcneighbor: It is "lots of choices", not "lot's of choices".

There's also the Seastreak, although you've got to go into Manhattan to pick it up, it's a nice ride. It used to also pick up in LSP, but no more.

That gate was always there. I believe, when the end of the waterfront path was inaccessible due to construction for a few years, that Mandalay opened that gate as a courtesy. It is private property and years ago was not available for public access.

Maybe try the Wood Shed in Weehawken. They've done some custom work for us before (much simpler than shutters), the prices were reasonable and they actually did it while we waited. We brought a piece of wood that had some detailing to it and asked them to make us six more. Nice people.

Bring them a shutter. Maybe they'd have suggestions for refurbishing, as well.
