IMPORTANT DEVELOPMENT

PK has Loquats. Abort construction of the Whole Foods. I repeat, PK is selling Loquats.

You snooze, you lose, WF.

Lame, once again dissing the real parts of JC

I agree with the argument that having it closer to a larger percentage of potential shoppers is a better plan, we're talking about Whole Foods and the fact that those wishing to shop there would most certainly make the schlep up the hill if it were placed in JSQ. I don't believe they'd lose any profits.

The whole point is moot though since they are going to be at Grove St.

Great cities don't turn down amenities because of traffic.

Not to mention that a large draw of WF locations in urban areas is their accessibility for those on foot. Old Colony is a good location for people with cars, but too far for the masses that rely on PATH. Not a whole lot of people would like to walk all the way to Old Colony and then back track. By choosing the area right outside of the Grove Street PATH plaza, they are being smart: they will get a lot of foot traffic from commuters coming home after work, but will also capture customers who may be heading out of JC by car. Check out any WF or TJ location that is close to subway and PATH stations around 5 - 6 PM and you will be faced with long lines. As with real estate: location, location, location.

Supermarket chains are only allowed 2 liquor licenses for the entire state.

Whole Foods sells alcohol at their locations in Vauxhall, Red Bank, and Paramus.

They have a consumption license to sell wine and beer in Vauxhall in the restaurant attached, they don't sell wine, beer, or liquors in the supermarket.

Well, maybe somebody should look into that.

33:1-12.31. Acquisition of beneficial interest in more than two retail licenses prohibited
On and after the effective date of this act no person, as the same is defined in R.S. 33:1-1, shall, except as hereinafter provided, acquire a beneficial interest in more than a total of two alcoholic beverage retail licenses, but nothing herein shall require any such person who has, on August 3, 1962, such an interest in more than two such licenses to surrender, dispose of, or release his interest in any such license or licenses.

Whole Foods opening Jersey City location in 2020

Whole Foods is coming to Jersey City.

The upscale supermarket announced this afternoon that it will open a market near the Grove Street PATH station in 2020.

Plans are for a 45,000-square-foot Whole Foods Market on the site of Metropolis Towers, at Columbus Drive and Marin Boulevard. That's more than twice the size of the Whole Foods in Montclair, one of Whole Foods' 15 New Jersey locations.

Well I think that's why it is where it is. So a shitload of people are within a 10 minute walk of it, and another shitload of people can access it by Path train (from JSQ mostly).

You're darn right just look at the revals. Anything can happen in a year's time but four years who knows ?

it's the new JSQ complex as the space is there and it will attract droves of Yuppies who need their quinoa and need it now.

Looks like the Metropolis Towers lot. A new park as well, so that is good news.
