The Historic Downtown Special Improvement District (HDSID) will have district maps in the next coming weeks.

You can pick one up at the HDSID tent during the Farmer's Market on Mondays and Thursdays or the Groove on Grove Music Series on Wednesdays.

There are also district listings available on the website: http://jcdowntown.org/

Can we all assume these maps just show the location of the path trains so people can get to the actual destinations?

(atsa joke, people)

I've seen that. I also like how Google Maps refers to much of downtown as Van Vorst Township.

Seen that cartoon "resort map" of downtown JC? I was in a coffee shop the other day with no newspaper and picked the map up for the first time in a while.

I noticed a few odd things. Like Liberty Harbor is now on 10th St. and aparently co-located with A-1 Storage, and the block of Pavonia between Coles & Monmouth is gone (sorry Wells Fargo residents).

Of course, it's a total waste of time, but we all like micro-analyzing our neighborhood. Has anyone else seen this map and noticed other mistakes?

Well you can buy an antique one off ebay - or print a copy -- the state has scanned a lot of the old maps in -- some go all the way back -- and staples will print color jpgs 11x14 for under $2

We have one map poster up of NYC, but we're Jersey City-ites to the core and I'm trying to find a map poster (read: not a boring map that you actually use to drive with) of Jersey City that we can buy and frame for the living room.

Any idea where we can buy one? Thanks!

We created a new site Jersey City Guide - http://jcguide.com with is essentially a "tourist" map to downtown Jersey City, NJ.

At the bottom of every page is a map plotted with local businesses that are of interest to tourists, visitors, and residents.

You can easily get to the site by clicking on the Jersey City Guide logo on the right side of every page on jclist.com

Well, in case you never noticed, all of the hotels on the waterfront are literally packed with tourists every day, all year round. While they are most likely in the area to tour Manhattan (as they should), it's not inconceivable that a "tourist's" map of Downtown JC would and should exist.

for three years from 2002-2004, the Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy and Pro Arts collaborated on a glossy map and guide, "Jersey City Artist Tour & Landmark Guide" it was published by Provident Bank. there is an older pamphlet of Jersey City's designated landmarks also out "there".

I suggest visiting the Jersey Room at the Main Library or contacting Cultural Affairs Department at City Hall to seek out.

I have a Resort Map with JC on one side and Hoboken on the other. Got it a few years ago, I think from my realtor. These things are primarily used as advertisements for participating businesses, but you still might find it useful.

I found it online:

I have seen these around, but not in a while. If you contact HDSID (Historic Downtown Special Improvement District) they may be able to help you. http://www.jcdowntown.org/

Where can I get my hands on a tourist map of downtown JC? This is for a colleague who recently moved to the area and would love to get her bearings and explore downtown. I could point her to Google Maps, but a nice paper map with some highlights of downtown would be nice.
