That's perfect.

From now on, if anyone asks me "what's that sound", I'm telling them it's the whales coming into the harbor.

Anyone have experience with getting old wide pine subfloors sanded & finished? I think these are 5/4 x 5 and are in pretty good shape. I'd rather do that than put down laminate if I have a choice. I just wonder how well they'd turn out and hold up.

I used Conquer for just this type of job. Came out beautiful (and as you all know, i hate everything and everyone)!

A lot depends on the condition of the boards, but they do a great job sanding, filling, etc. Keep in mind the pine is a softwood and will ding easily. Dog nails, high heels, etc. WILL leave marks. If you can live with that, fine.

FAB is right.

Pretty soon the yearly number of JC cops involved in "incidents" could outnumber the yearly JC homicide rate.

The original article says the opposite; that the spaces are "along Columbus Drive".

If these are in fact indoors, what garage in what building are they in? Are these spaces being rented from a building Owner (Mack-Cali, etc.) by the JCPA and then being proposed to be rented again to the City?

The whole idea sounds stupid. As for it essentially being a "transfer" of 80K, that is definitely one instance where I would trace the $$$. I guarantee you part of it will end up in just a few pockets.

Sounds like nothing more than a money laundering/racketeering/kickback scheme.

What is the fascination with bars with you people? There are plenty of bars around the downtown area. Are they packed to the rafters? No, so what's the problem? I used to hang out with a friend sometimes who could never be happy in any bar. "Lets go somewhere else, this place sucks". It would go on and on in a fruitless search for a "cool" bar. It's the "grass is always greener" syndrome. Just go to a place and sit and relax and enjoy yourself. If you think that someone is going to build a bar to your specs you are hopelessly lost. LITM seems like a perfectly fine bar as does Skinner's, White Star, etc. Have you checked the crime blotter in Hoboken lately? Drunk d-bag smashing windows at City Hall, guy punches girl in face etc. Is that really what you want? A bar on every corner would mean complete disruption of our neighborhoods and 99% of them would fail. Get up off your lazy ass and walk a couple extra blocks to Newark or Grove and stop your whining and pipe-dreams.

So what we know of this (so far un-suspended) "hero cop" (and the first vice president of the Jersey City PBA) so far is that he:

1. Took illegal drugs.
2. Was involved in the "hidden key caper".
3. Was involved in a fight with a Sheriff Officer.

I just want to have my facts straight the next time the JC PBA calls asking for a donation.

The service is fine if you are not in a rush.

All the food is cooked to order; no pre-prepared re-heats.

The place is small, popular and does not take reservations. You get there at the wrong time; be prepared to wait.

Those are the "ground rules".

As an alternative, I understand Olive Garden can seat you right away....

Went this past Saturday night about 8pm.

3 other occupied tables.

Food ordered: Caesar salad, garlic bread, Chicken Piccata, Lobster Ravioli and two desserts.

All good. Not 4 star, but 4 star not expected. Just good, solid home-made food, presented as such.

Nothing fancy here: paper napkins, plastic stemware and a dining room decor right out of the Ravonite Club.

Obviously a family-run, start-up business.

They just need to work out a few details as far as ambiance and presentation. Anything else will come with experience.

Bottom-line: good food at very fair prices and very friendly service.

I wish them luck; I'll be back.
