Great thread... I've had the same experience with wrong stuff delivered/missing items. Called and was told remind them next time, never ordered again and that was 2 years ago. If it was a soda I wouldn't have called. But 2 of the 5 dishes... seriously. Looking forward to trying Gypsy, thanks JCList!

I recently ordered a few kebabs for take away from Rumi and was really impressed. I haven't ordered from them in probably 6 months and didn't love it last time. Decided to give them another shot and it was completely different in both quality and flavor. I had the Lamb Adana Kebab and Beef Kofte, both were excellent. Nothing was overdone, both were juicy and flavorful.

Sadly, the Falafel was rather dry so I will skip that next time.

Anyone who hasn't had in recent months, I urge you to try. Menu has changed slightly as well but not much.

Walk over to the Morris Canal Park area at the end of Washington on a Saturday morning. You'll see several dogs swimming and owners throwing balls into the river.

There's a small path on the right side of the park before you get down into the narrow stretch, you'll see it.

Stopped in for lunch last week and have a mixed review.

The maroon tablecloths are terrible and actually take away from the overall decor greatly. Why spend all this money on designing the place and then toss a cheap tablecloth which matches nothing on every table?

Calamari app was underwhelming. The cornmeal/semolina? crust felt raw & under-cooked. The actual calamari was nice but the thick raw coating wasn't pleasant. Also, the portion size was massive but the bland dipping sauce was tiny, chef needs to rethink this one.

Steak sandwich was good, not amazing but very good.

The Shrimp and Risotto was very tasty, risotto rather thick though, I prefer a more traditional loose risotto, to each his own I guess. But the flavors were great and I would order this again.

Service was good and overall a nice lunch. Looking forward to the kitchen and front of house working out some of the kinks before I return for dinner.

I grabbed a scoop of Rum Raisin last night and I have to say, it was amazing. Great rum flavor and lots of chopped raisins, could be the best ice cream/gelato I've had, seriously. It was rather heavy handed on the rum which I absolutely loved.

If it's around, I urge all Rum Raisin fans to grab a scoop and urge Tommy to keep it in the summer rotation and not change it at all.

I went last night to check the store out and pick up a little something, it's a lovely store and the owners were very sweet. Seems like one family, mother & father, daughter and husband perhaps or brother.

We picked up a few little things and everything was great. Nice to see some of the old school candies and a great addition to the area. Wish them all the best and will try to support as long as my waistline will allow.

Any thoughts on the gelato @ Satis?

I've been a few times and found the woman at the counter somewhat rude. Also, I think the product @ Tommy's Two Scoops is superior and his flavors more inventive. On both occasions there was a worker or two smoking in front of the door and the whole place smelled like cigarettes. The front is walled in concrete, not the place for employees to smoke and not what you want a gelateria smelling like.

I?m quite fond of the restaurant but feel a disconnect with the gelateria next door. Any thoughts or experiences?

Tried this place and I have a mixed review.

The two guys preparing the orders really didn't seem to know what they were doing. They were handing things back and forth, mixing up orders, very inefficient to say the least.
The Burrito was very good, the Banh Mi, not so much.

I do hope they work out the kinks, there's definitely some potential here.

Not sure if everyone knows but it's inside of Liberty Gourmet, I believe it was the breakfast station or even taco station at one point in time.

Finally made my way over to Satis and was very impressed. Service was wonderful, Decor is warm and charming and the food was really very good. It's a great addition to the neighborhood and brunch will be starting this weekend or next which I'm looking forward to. Also, the retail portion will be open this week or very soon, you'll be able to pick up anything from the salumeria, cheese, bread, etc...

I really enjoyed my overal experience @ Satis, I felt welcome the minute I walked in and after the meal it felt like I had been there 20 times already. I LOVE the fact there's no bar and all the noise and nonsense that comes with it like others spots in the area. Also, the BYO is a great plus, can bring something nice from home or order from the corner.

I can't say enough about the staff, well trained, friendly but not too chatty or buddy buddy and they were really sweet with my 2 yr old daughter. They even comp'd her gelato which was very nice gesture.

Also, the short rib was out of this world, go hungry as portions were rather generous and prices really low. We'll be heading back this week for sure, see you all there.

Ordered a few things from Rumi last night and was a little underwhelmed. Falafel wasn't great, calamari wasn't very good but the grape leaves were excellent. The Family Kebab Combo was a nice mix of meats but there was no sauce to be found. I needed some hot sauce, yogurt, etc... it was all rather dry from lack of sauce.

There were some hiccups with placing the order and the actual delivery but I will give them a second chance for sure. BTW, they gave us two free desserts.

The selection and quality @ A&P is terrible.

The gourmet grocery @ Liberty Towers sells a few basic items, about the same as A&P.

If you can go by car I suggest heading to Edgewater (Mitsuwa). That place is like no other, it's amazing.

Goldman employees can only use their IDs for free ride between 9:30am and 4:30pm or something like that. I would love to get my hands on a Goldman ID, could save me $214 a month.

BTW, you can hear the boats clearly from the higher floors in Liberty Towers as well so I would imagine same goes for 77 Hudson.

Went this past Sunday evening and ordered a single cone.
There was no gelato down in the cone, just one small scoop placed on top. It was slightly larger than a golf ball.

My wife however ordered a single in a cup and received twice as much as I did. Strange....

We had two different servers as well.

Seems like an easy enough thing to sort out, just hope it happens soon.

BTW, I loved the gelato, great stuff and great addition to the hood.

There was a suicide @ Liberty Towers this morning.

Where's the story? I can't find anything yet.

There were several ambulances, I hope it wasn't a multiple
or murder/suicide. Is that place cursed?

They opened yesterday and I ordered a few things for dinner to try.

Massaman Curry was good and the Tom Yum soup was tasty. The basil fried rice was really good and I would totally order it again, I couldn't stop eating it.

They didn?t have one or two things but that?s expected on a first night. Overall I would say it's slightly better than average but by no means extraordinary. Nice to have another option in the neighborhood.

So it appears the renovation is nearly complete on the old Village Thai, it will now be Sky Thai. The location is Morris Street near the corner of Greene.

Anyone have any insights? Same owners as Village? Will it be mediocre Thai just as before? The inside appears rather "club-like" but it's better than before I suppose.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for good things from the kitchen but expect the same.

I have been using my NYC Doc for years but looking to save some travel time and find someone locally. I went to Newport Medical but wasn't really pleased. It had a clinic-type feel to it and I would prefer a smaller practice, perhaps newer facilities/equipment, etc... Any recs are welcome, thanks.

Agreed but do we need two of everything in the one building? There are so many other stores that would do well there. They will probably convert that space into another bank, oh well.

I think between the new Korean Deli/Grocery on the other corner, City Vino doing Amiya Express for lunch and their overal mediocre food it was to be expected.

Hard to believe Liberty Towers would allow another deli in which also competes with the Pharmacy on many levels. Then to allow City Vino to hold Amiya Express lunch buffet when you have Mirch, seems crazy, perhaps they wanted him out?

I hope something great moves in and it doesn't sit vacant for a year+

I ride the ferry everyday and while not pleased about the increase will continue to do so. I buy a monthly and the price per trip drops considerably.

You have to factor time spent commuting and how much that is worth. For me, I live close to Paulus Hook Terminal and work a few blocks from Pier 11 Wall St. so taking the ferry saves roughly 45 mins or more a day on my commute and that's well worth the $$.

Also, the ferry from Paulus Hook is not fully enclosed, you can go outside on the 2nd floor.
