thanks Robustus. the numbers just work out better for me back home. Originally thought I would give JC a go and I did for 5 years, now I realize that it aint for me. This place has great potential that for some odd reason is not being realized. I've spent alot of time in downtown too but it just doesnt cut it for me from an entertainment, food, interesting things to do and streetlife sense. To me there is no real palpable energy in this town and I guess Im at a point where I am demanding more out of my city.
Shouldn't have to jump on the Path train everytime I want to do something interesting and really fun, (its annoying). I'd like to walk out of my door, or take a 10-15 minute walk for that. I know JC will get to that point (hopefully) some day but Im just not willing to wait the 10-15 years it will probably take.

There are nice parts of Brooklyn as well but I love downtown JC (I hate where you lived though:)) Re: taxes, NYC abatement is great, NYC income taxes not so much. Also, I paid roughly 15% less for my condo here than I would have for a comparable property in a nice neighborhood in Brooklyn . Also, your commute sucks from Prospect Heights , but I guess it probably did from Communipaw. Good luck and good riddance!

Brooklyn has two things..Hipsters and Mayor Bloomberg, both of which Suck! Not to Mention New York is basically Bankrupt, morally and financially LOL!! So have fun back in NY, Me I.m glad I left!

Its been a great few of years here in Jersey (5yrs) total but I will gladly be heading back home to Brooklyn in a few months. Sold my place and bought a larger place in Propsect Heights. Great neighborhood with a multitude of great restaurants, Prospect Park 9 blocks away (which has plenty of shade trees), beautiful brownstones for blocks and blocks that Downtown JC cant even hold a match to.
My taxes here in JC for an 850sf 1 bed, 1bath are almost 5K a year, (ridiculous), my new abated taxes in BK will be $17 per month for 25 years. NY does abatements the way abatements should be done, not this stupid ass payment in lieu taxes crap which are property taxes by another name. So HAPPY, will never, ever, ever return to NJ to live.
