Shiquan Bellamy, 19, of Jersey City, appears at Central Judicial Processing Court in Jersey City via videolink from the Hudson County jail in Kearny today. He is charged with killing Nia Haqq and Michael Muchioki, on Monday, April 12, 2010. He has also been charged with three additional murders today.

The Jersey City teen charged with two women in the execution-style murder of a recently engaged couple has been charged in three more murders and his bail is set at $6 million cash only, officials said.

Shiquan Bellamy of Arlington Avenue, is now charged in a single homicide and two double homicides, and Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio said today the killings were "unnecessary to effectuate the robberies" and appear to be "gratuitous violence" and "cold blooded killing."

Bellamy appeared in Central Judicial Processing Court in Jersey City via a videolink from the Kearny jail on the charges of murdering the couple, Nia Haqq, 25, and Michael Muchioki, 27, on April 4. He is charged in this murder along with Darmelia Lawrence, of Woodlawn Avenue, and Latonia Bellamy, all 19.

The couple had just returned home from their engagement party when they were killed during a robbery in the street in front to their Randolph Avenue home, officials said. Muchioki suffered a shotgun blast to the back of his head and his fiancee was shot in the back of her head with a pistol, officials said.

The other charges against Bellamy were announced after his appearance.

Today, Shiquan Bellamy was charged in the Feb. 2 felony murders of cousins Mileak Richardson and Lester "Bleek" Thompson, as well as robbery and weapons offenses in connection to the 4 a.m. slayings at Woodlawn Avenue near Corcoran Street, DeFazio said. Police say Richardson and Thompson were robbed of cash, a cell phone and drugs, and were "set up."

Also today, Shiquan Bellamy was charged with the March 27 murder of Lamonte Wright, 20, who was shot in the back with a shotgun at 6 a.m. on Clerk Street near Myrtle Avenue as he walked his girlfriend to her car, officials said. Authorities called the killing a "premeditated attack," and said robbery was not involved.

"This is beyond humanity that one young man can be charged with causing this much destruction of human life," said DeFazio.

"I personally commend the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office homicide personnel and the investigative division of the Jersey City police for all the work they did on these five homicide cases. A tremendous amount of effort went into these investigations."

Shiquan Bellamy was in prison from March 6, 2009 to Oct. 19, 2009 for drug possession with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school and he remains on parole. Jersey City police picked him up on April 6 for questioning in the Randolph Avenue murders and he was arrested when found carrying suspected narcotics. He has been locked up since then.

Investigators got a break in the Randolph Avenue homicides when forensic evidence recovered from the Haqq's vehicle and other information led them to Darmelia Lawrence and Latonia Bellamy to the crime.

"The two codefendants were interviewed and it was shortly thereafter that the warrant was obtained for Mr. Bellamy," DeFazio said, adding that a shotgun believed used in the homicides was also recovered. "After (Shiquan Bellamy) was charged in the most recent double homicide, he was taken to the homicide squad office and interviewed, and now has been charged with these additional homicides."

Darmelia Lawrence's brother, Ronald "Diddy" Lawrence, 21, as well as Hakeem "Hak" Lester, also 21, are already charged in the double homicide on Woodlawn where two pistols and a shogun were used, officials said. Shiquan Bellamy and Latonia Bellamy are believed to be cousins.

Shiquan Bellamy will likely appear in CJP tomorrow in connection to the three additional homicides.

Jersey City Murder Spree

MYFOXNY.COM - One of the three people arrested in connection with a Jersey City couple is accused of three other murders.

Shiquan Bellamy is being held on $6 million bail after being changed in the execution-style killings of a couple in Jersey City who had returned from their engagement party on Easter. The 19-year-old was also charged with three more killings.

Bellamy is charged in the Feb. 2 murders of cousins Mileak Richardson and Lester"Bleek" Thompson in Jersey City.

Bellamy is also charged with the fatal shooting of Lamonte Wright on March 27 in Jersey City.

Darmelia Lawrence, 19, and Latonia Bellamy, 19 -- are also charged in connection with the Jersey City couple's killings.

Michael Muchiaki, 27, and Nia Haqq, 25, were shot twice in the head near their car, which was not taken, in an apparent botched carjacking.

The couple had attended a party in New Brunswick and returned to their Jersey City home around 3 a.m. As they parked their car, they were approached by a man and two women, who later fled the scene in another vehicle.

DeFazio said that based on the crime scene and witness statements, it appears the victims were shot during an unsuccessful carjacking. Authorities believe their car could not be taken because it had an anti-theft device.

They will be buried together at Rosedale & Rosehill Cemetery in Linden.

Jersey City cops tie Shiquan Bellamy, 19, one of the suspects in couple's killing to three earlier homicides

The Jersey City teen charged with two women in the execution-style murder of a recently engaged couple was charged yesterday with three more killings and his bail was upped from $2 million to $6 million cash only.

Shiquan Bellamy, 19, of Arlington Avenue, is now charged in a single homicide and two double homicides, Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio said.

On Friday, Bellamy, Darmelia Lawrence of Woodlawn Avenue and Latonia Bellamy of Ocean Avenue, all 19, were charged in the Easter Sunday felony murders of 25-year-old Nia Haqq and 27-year-old Michael Muchioki.

The couple had just returned from their engagement party when they were killed during a robbery in the street in front to their Randolph Avenue home.

Muchioki died from a shotgun blast to the back of his head and his fiancee was shot in the back of her head with a pistol, officials said.

Yesterday, Shiquan Bellamy was charged in the Feb. 2 felony murders of cousins Mileak Richardson and Lester "Bleek" Thompson that took place at about 4 a.m. at Woodlawn Avenue near Corcoran Street. Richardson and Thompson were robbed of cash, a cell phone and drugs, and were "set up," police said.

Shiquan Bellamy was also charged yesterday with the March 27 murder of Lamonte Wright, 20, who was shot in the back with a shotgun at 6 a.m. on Clerk Street near Myrtle Avenue as he walked his girlfriend to her car.

Authorities characterized this killing as a "premeditated attack" and said robbery was not involved.

"This is beyond humanity that one young man can be charged with causing this much destruction of human life," said DeFazio, who commended homicide detectives in his office as well as the Jersey City Police Department for tying together these "cold-blooded" killings.

At a press conference yesterday afternoon, Jersey City Police Director Sam Jefferson called Shiquan Bellamy's alleged acts a "crime spree of the devil."

We can build all the prisons we want , thats not the answer.

We can provide all the so called social programs to help these lowlifes, that doesn't help.

Death Penalty?, what a joke......

Until the politicians start growing some balls and stop catering to political correctness, more acts of violence like this will continue.

Crime is so severe in these parts of JC that civil rights should be suspended and marshal law should be implemented, no one should be on the streets past sundown!

We are the laughing stock of the world people, nowhere else in the world is society so violent as ours.

WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU ABOUT OUR LAWS?

Here's why we heard next to nothing from the mayor and his administration all last week about the murders:

(From the Political Insider column in yesterday's Jersey Journal)

INSIDER NOTES

-- Healy was vacationing in Florida last week, since the Easter weekend, when the young people returning from their engagement party were killed. He also missed the arrest of those charged with the killing. Don't be concerned because Jersey City has been in the good hands of Fire Director Armando Romano, subbing as acting mayor as he has in the past.

I don't actually want them in the armed forces...Since they are already killers, send them to Iraq and Afghanistan, I guarantee they would not survive trying to fight those over there against the United States and would be killed. That is the goal to let them get killed.

I wonder how much of a bad ass they will be then.
It would save the tax payers the money of keeping them incarnated. It's a win win, they like to kill, here is there opportunity to kill terrorist and we don't have to deal with them.

Thats an awful idea. Many street gangs acquire weapons through this exact process of joining our armed forces. I do disagree with the fact that we spend so much keeping them in prison.

Frankly prisoners of this caliber get too much while in prison. Hear this idea out for the murderers, rapists, pedophiles, muggers, car jackers. All the violent criminals. The ones that physically cause harm to others and cause people to fear the streets.

1. Everybody gets solitary. 23 hours a day. in a cell thats just long enough for a bed and maybe 3x3 feet for the toilet.

2. They get the scraps of the guards and the white collar criminals to eat. Why should they get 3 squares a day.

3. No books, no gyms, no personal effects.

4. Showers once a week and no cleaning of the cells.

Criminals know how easy it is to be in prison. They're like resorts to these criminals.

So it turns out this guy is single-handedly responsible for, what, almost half the murders in Hudson County so far this year?

I've seen this darkness in some children and as young as 3 yrs. old.

This only made me want to talk to the child to try to understand and do something, be some sort of role model of some kind, some way. Although I might have had limitations. It's like walking on egg shells.

There is one child for example, when I go onto my front porch, to watch my own children play, I'll pull out my guitar, and musical instruments, and let the other children play music, and have american Idol type shows.

I have seen a change in this one child, of course the mother is sitting on the next stoop, I'll hug the child when I see her.

The other day the child told me that her step-sister said she was stupid, and she said she wished my daughter was her sister.

I told her that what her step sister said was wrong and told her she wasn't stupid! That she was a beautiful girl. I gave her a hug and held her face, and gave her a kiss on her forehead.

The childs face lit up, I'm seeing a different child compared to the child I observed 2 yrs. ago.

There was one kid who stated how much he hated Hannah Montana when he saw my daughter wearing a t-shirt with her face on it, which made my daughter cry. He said if he ever saw her (Hannah Montana) he would kill her!

I tried talking to him, several times and started seeing a change, but his parents moved. Several months later, Marshalls were looking for someone in that family...

19-Year-Old Murder Suspect Allegedly "Wanted to Feel What It Was Like to Shoot Somebody"
By BRIAN THOMPSON

Print Email Share Buzz up!TWITTER FACEBOOK

Three 19-year-olds have been charged with the murders of Nia Haqq, 25 and Michael Muchioki, 27 outside their Jersey City home last weekend after they had returned from an engagement party.

And sources told NBCNewYork that one of the teenaged women told investigators, "I just wanted to feel what it was like to shoot somebody."

"She should have served her country," said Nia's mother, Majeeda Haqq after she was told that quote. "That's what she should of did if she felt she needed to feel what it felt like to pull a trigger on someone. She should have took her behind to Iran(sic)," Haqq added.

Haqq and Muchioki were brutally gunned down after they got out of their car at three in the morning. Lawmen were stunned then, and stunned again on learning that one of the young women actually suggested it was some sort of "thrill kill."

Suspect Latonia Bellamy, 19, of Jersey City.
Suspect Darmelia Lawrence, 19. "That's cold-blooded," said Hudson County Sheriff Juan Perez. "You took the lives of two individuals. How can you even sleep by saying such a statement, it's horrible," Perez said.

"We will go after them," Haqq said. And she added "Whatever we can do to make sure they never step outside of a cell again, we're gonna do it... because they have stolen my sunshine."

Bail for the two women, Darmelia Lawrence and Latonia Bellamy, was set a $1 million cash each, and for Shiquan Bellamy (Latonia's cousin) it was set at $2 million. All three face felony murder, armed robbery and weapons charges.

Bellamy served 10 months in prison last year after being convicted of two counts of selling drugs near a school.

But NBCNewYork learned that after getting out on parole in October, a warrant for his arrest was issued January 27 "for failure to meet conditions of parole," according to State Parole Board Spokesman Neal Buccino.

Buccino said Bellamy had failed to attend a community resource program.

Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy, after calling the murders "an act of pure and random viciousness," said the entire community "felt a bit of relief ... knowing these killers are behind bars (in) the first step in the healing process for our city."

Im sorry but its shit like this that makes me want to see death penalty, just a complete disregard for someone life, and its not like they shot them in the leg, you executed them you wanted them dead and at 19 you know the finality of death.

A boy grew up in Jersey City 'always trying to do the right thing.' Then he was murdered, at 27, in an attempted carjacking, in his hometown

Saturday, April 10, 2010
By SARAH RAHMAN
JOURNAL STAFF WRITER

One of the first things Michael Muchioki's kindergarten teacher said about him was that he was "a manly young man," his mother, Sandra Muchioki, remembered.

"He stayed that way his whole life. He always tried to do the right thing," Muchioki said of the son she laid to rest yesterday in Jersey City.

Michael Muchioki and his fiancee Nia Haqq were killed Sunday outside of their Randolph Avenue home after returning from their engagement party.

Hudson County investigators yesterday charged three people with the murders - which were spurred by an attempted carjacking. Charged were two Jersey City women, Darmelia Lawrence, 19, of Woodlawn Avenue, and Latonia Bellamy, 19, of Ocean Avenue, and Shiquan Bellamy, 19, of Arlington Avenue. All are charged with felony murder, armed robbery, unlawful possession of firearms and possession of firearms for an unlawful purpose.

"He was very interested in working with young people because he saw the difference upbringings with and without good influences had on their lives," Muchioki said. "His death was a personification of that idea."

As the youngest of three siblings, 27-year-old Michael Muchioki was born and raised in Jersey City and attended Marist High School, where administrators noticed his drive for learning.

"His mother was a teacher, and you knew from the start he was very serious about his future," said Steven Schlittle, principal of Marist High School. "He got along with everyone."

Described as a tech whiz who loved math and science, a passion that later earned him a job at Antenna Software in Jersey City, Muchioki graduated from New Jersey Institute of Technology with a degree in computer science. He was a student in the university's Albert Doman Honors College, and became a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity during his college years.

Muchioki also loved working with kids, especially his four nieces and nephews or the children of his friends, his mother said.

"He loved the Liberty Science Center, and he and Nia were actually planning on taking a bunch of his friends' kids to (LSC) on a field trip," said Muchioki, who lives in Jersey City with her husband, Erastus. "He was always involved in community activity, whether through his fraternity or otherwise."

Muchioki saw Haqq as her son's "ultimate soulmate" and said the pair had a "wonderful" relationship.

"She and Mike were so in love, but they were always secure enough to go off with their own friends and do their own thing," said Muchioki, who described the two as having "fantastic" senses of humor.

Muchioki's best friend since age 3, Jarrett Smith, said Haqq and Muchioki, who met in their college years, made a "beautiful" couple and he had recently asked them to be his child's godparents.

"Mike and I grew together. We complemented each other. Besides my biological brother, I will never have a bond like that with another man," said 28-year-old Smith.

Smith remembered their shared love for the movie "Back to Future," when the two would act out their favorite scenes. He talked about their loyalty to the Dallas Cowboys. Muchioki, in fact, flew to Dallas last year just to see the new stadium, his mother said.

Smith and Muchioki had also planned to attend the opening day game at Dallas Stadium next year with Smith's brother and father, said Smith.

"I don't see him as my best friend," said Smith, who grew up on Union Street in Jersey City with Muchioki. "He was my brother."

Ok they were caught, which I had no doubt our JCPD would catch them.

What will be done Mayor Healy to prevent these murders and violent crimes. Does anyone have an idea what the Healy crime policy is? Where is Viola Richardson, another murder in her ward and she is nowhere to be found.

How about out the president of the city council, Big-shot Brennan, what does he have to say. What has Brennan ever done towards presenting any solutions regarding the crime or an issues we face in Jersey City.

Does, Healy, or Brennan, realize the crisis here with regards to crime? They are probably just going on with with business as usual for themselves drinking in a bar.

If they are guilty.. They should be dragged outside the courthouse and shot by a firing squad......But this is America, so these scumbags will be walking the streets again someday. Shame on this country!

I've always been a liberal voting democrat who loves the death penalty. If they're found guilty fry em!

Forced sterilization would be a blessing. Sadly, we can't travel back in time!

Third accused killer of Jersey City couple is identified

Third accused killer of Jersey City couple is identified
By Michaelangelo Conte/The Jersey Journal
April 09, 2010, 3:19PM

Shiquan Bellamy, 19, has been charged in the shooting deaths of Nia Haqq, 25, amd Michael Muchioki, 27.The third person accused of murdering Jersey City couple Nia Haqq and Michael Muchioki has been identified as Shiquan Bellamy, 19.

Two women -- Darmelia Lawrence and Latonia Bellamy, both 19, have also been charged with the April 4 shooting of the recently engaged couple in what police say was a botched carjacking attempt. It is not yet known if the two Bellamys are related.

Lawrence's brother, Ronald "Diddy" Lawrence, was arrested in February and charged with killing Mileak Richardson, Lester Thompson on Feb. 2 on Woodlawn Avenue.

Muchioki, 27, and Haqq, 25, had just arrived at their Randolph Avenue home when they are robbed and shot dead at about 3 a.m. Among the items stolen was Haqq's engagement ring.

The news of the arrests come the same day as Muchioki's funeral. Haqq's funeral was yesterday. The couple will be buried together in a Linden cemetery.

Such a senseless tragedy. I am pleased, however, that the JCPD brought suspects into custody rather quickly.

Darmelia appears to be a relation of Diddy Lawrence who is in on charges for executing two people earlier in the year.

Quote:
Lawrence's sister, Darmelia Lawrence, 19, and his pregnant girlfriend, Crystal Caldwell, 28, said Monday that Lawrence was with them at their Woodlawn Avenue home at the time of the fatal shooting.

They said he went voluntarily to the police station Sunday to "clear his name" after he heard from a family member that the police wanted to question him.

"He turned himself in because he knew he did nothing wrong," Darmelia Lawrence said. "He wants to take the lie detector test to prove it."

Nice family. Makes me ill.[/quote]

Lets first remember they're only suspects. They are innocent until proven guilty. If they are though I hope they're all charged the same and sentenced the same. People that commit crimes like this, rape, and pedophilia have no hope. They cannot be treated under our current system and therefore should be separated from society. / rant off

This great news. Hopefully leading to more.

Anyone know if these press conferences usually have a live video feed?

I agree. I don't see the point in raising property taxes (resulting in rent increase), AND reducing Section 8-- a major source of funding for those rents. You will see an increase in foreclosures and a blighted community. If you want to reduce Section 8 in some way, fine, but don't increase the amount of money people who pay rent without assistance need to scrape together each month.
