Re: One of N.J.'s trendiest Asian restaurants has closed its doors

I was hoping the restaurant would get better and he would succeed, but the dishes were just weird.

For example, the standard Kare-Kare (Oxtail in peanut sauce with eggplant and string beans), was made of chunks of oxtail in egg noodles with the sauce and shrimp fry condiment blended in. It didn't work at all. If you can't nail this dish, in any format, modern or traditional, it's a problem

Re: End of AirBnB in Jersey City?

My neighbor is an nuisance AirBnB, I've been living trouble-free in my home on 9th St. since 1997 until next door's property was bought by Dixon and became an AirBnB. I've since incorrectly received two $115 summons for garbage out on the streets they placed close to my mailbox. I've had to take time off to contest the summons (1st one was dismissed, 2nd in July 9). The property manager promised me 8 weeks ago they will compensate me for the ticket, but have not done anything except make empty promises. These people are bad neighbors and should not be allowed to operate.

I don't have anything against AirBnB in general, I use the service myself when I travel with family, but this particular operator is inconsiderate, insincere and patronizing. They've gotten away with taking 3 hours of my time, $115 in fines, not to mention the aggravation. And I have no recourse? I say get rid of all of them.

Are you crazy? How would gun laws prevented this? How often do you hear about legal guns being used in shootings here in JC? I'm pretty sure it's already against the law to bring a gun into the Newport Mall. As for interstate gun transport. Check with that guy from PA who was driving through NJ to NY and got stopped at the holland tunnel. I'll bet he might have something to say about how strict NJ is

You mean those guys who announced on social media they were going to "rescue" someone they thought was being kept in a drug den in Brooklyn and were driving the huge SUV with all the huge NRA and 2nd Amendment stickers?

Homosexuality is not the problem. People like YOU are.

The late Fr. Richard Neuhaus said this is a homosexual problem. And according to the FBI who created the John Jay report, 85% of the victims were males, basically teenage boys, not young children. Add to the fact the CDC who keeps track of who gets HIV, the largest group is 13 to 24 year old. But here is my question, why is a 13 year getting HIV? They are being molested by adult gay men. This is nothing but deflection to say, that females are victims. Yes, they are but in much smaller numbers. According to the seminarians who transferred to other places or left, ther is a real gay sub-culture who are active sexually. I am hoping for a thorough investigation. But I also want an investigation of what former child actor Corey Feldman said. The same thing is happening in Hollywood with young male teen actors.

Landscaping - can anyone recommend a reputable/reliable outfit?

Hi -

I'm looking to tile my small backyard but don't have the skills. I have 3 spaces that I need work done, a 20x15 sq ft tiled correctly, 2 sidewalk spaces that need to be dug out and paved and a side area about 3x30ft that I want landscaped.

Anyone had the experience of having this done?

Thanks in advance

If the teachers strike and she goes to either Dickinson, Ferris, Lincoln or Snyder I would let her stay home that day. If she goes to Liberty or McNair she should be fine.

I was a student during the last strike the schools won't be able to hire enough substitutes to control the kids. All they will do is put all the students in Auditoriums, Gyms and Cafeterias and the kids will quickly realize they run the show until this strike is over.

Personally, I've almost gotten into an accident near that used car lot. One time a tow truck actually stopped on the right lane as traffic was accelarating from the red light behind.

Another time they were directing traffic into/out of the the gate (that was destroyed) as cars were whizzing by, and the speed limit here I think, is is 40 mph. This was bound to happen - those people running that used car lot is making the road very dangerous.

Is it just me, or does anyone out there think none of these offerings are really of any good (not even great) value for the money?

wtf? knowing those restaurants, I could eat better off a la carte than getting the set menu at those prices.

I thought the point of these is to get people to come and sample what they have to generate more business.

Let me know if anybody thinks there's a good deal in any of those restaurants

Manila is the capital of the Philippines. A lot of Filipinos moved to Grove St in the late 70s and petitioned for a section of Grove to be renamed

I'm new to JC (and the USA as a whole, fresh off the boat a year ago or so). These older names are far superior to the replacements. Actually, one of my peeves is the renaming of everything and anything to historical figures. Maybe if it was just surnames, it'd sit right... but it seems kinda odd to see things like "Martin Luther King Drive", "Ronald Reagan Boulevard" or "Warren G. Harding Middle School".

Then again, I'm probably showing my ignorance and Jackson, Henderson, and Manila were probably named after people (but at least it was just the surname)

You seem to not understand how actual professional investigations work, as opposed to the theater of the Hillary witch hunts. They don't leak, and when they have cooperating witnesses, no one knows till the witnesses have served their purpose and gathered more evidence. They don't make deals with indictees without getting plenty in return, it's not like the local ADA who just wants to move on to the next kid arrested for weed possession. This is far from over.

'They don't leak'. Did you really type that, lol?

If there was anything at all of substance about collusion we'd know it. What we do know is that a high level FBI staffer met with author of the phony Trump dossier-now that's collusion!

Not to mention the Justice Department collusion with the Clinton's over the 'accidental tarmac meeting' that the FBI colluded to try and hide from the US public.

The packages I've "lost" over the years have been handled by either USPS or FedEx. I lost 1 package in 5 years from UPS. So far I've lost 2 this year, one each from USPS and FedEx.
A lot of those workers just leave the package without even ringing the doorbell.

Quote:

jc_dweller wrote:
Don't assume that your package was "stolen" (in the traditional sense) if it's not there. Saturday FedEx marked a package of mine as delivered. I was home all day, basically watching and listening for the delivery and generally in sight line of my front window, and a FedEx truck never even came down my street. Maybe FedEx misdelivered, maybe FedEx is in on the scam.

Jennifer Liepen and Sandy Patch own a $345,000 house in Jersey City that they?ve never lived in ? which might not be so unusual, except for the fact that they don?t have any other home.

?We?re nomads,? Patch told The Post. ?[We?re] moving to where resources are at any given time.?

Instead, the married couple moves into a different NYC apartment every week or so. As pet sitters, Liepin, 32, and Patch, 33, crash for free at various clients? apartments and care for cats and dogs while their owners are out of town.

The pair allow themselves a combined weekly budget of just $100. Patch said they have saved ?close to $50,000? apartment-hopping for the past two years.
