You did nothing but kiss his ass in Macy's window. Every week , every issue, and slandered every Democrat who apposed him. You are a strident conservative, and out of step,, but don't run away from it because the climate has changed.

When our Gov Christie screwed up I called him out. The LSP Marina project was an example. Not exactly 'reflexive partisanship'. In any case, would we have been better off with four more Corzine years, or four with Buono? Methinks not.

You don't merit an argument based on merit. Tony TP summed it up quite well: your reflexive partisanship, endless whataboutism, the fanboy, slavish nature of your devotion to the people you vote for kind of doesn't leave a lot of room to debate much of anything.

I don't need KY jelly for whatever Murphy does, because I have very low expectations of him. I am repulsed that in a state of 8.5 million people, with a disproportionately large number of successful, well educated folks that we end up with someone as undistinguished and inexperienced as The Murph. I will gladly point out his shortcomings as Governor, as they appear - all politicians have them; they all fail in some way or other. You just hope those failings are manageable. I don't know why it is so hard for some people to recognize the limitations in the people they support. Unless you are on the payroll or involved intimately, it's not a reflection of you.

Just because everyone with eyes and ears thinks Christie is trash doesn?t mean they think Murphy is all that great either. You just bring up Murphy or HRC constantly to deflect from valid points or criticisms being made about the corrupt people you blindly support without question.

Which is scary- you think everyone else really just picks a side and blindly supports them without question the way you do? People on here make obvious and valid points to you that you cannot defend so you lash out at whoever they told you the enemy is today. You really sound like you?ve been abused.

Silly personal insults show you can't argue on merit, you know that, right?

None of that was an insult it was simply an observation based on what you publically put out there. You constantly make excuses for people that blatantly show through their actions that they don?t care about others (or you) and you fall over yourself trying to defend them even when it?s not in your best interest to do so. It doesn?t make sense.

When someone points that out to you, you then try to attack whoever you assume they must have voted for like they have the same blind devotion as you. I would never fall over myself trying to defend Murphy just because I ended up voting for him- I can see flaws in almost every politician I?ve had to vote for and I can admit that without having to deflect to their opponent.

While the former governor had declined to identify where these monies originated, Democratic leaders said Tuesday that a nonpartisan review of the transfers shows that $39.4 million came from school construction and other education-related accounts, including programs designed to expand preschool and provide grants for college students.

@Dolomiti

Christie didn't ignore NJ-every working politician has to campaign out of state when running for POTUS. Did Obama ignore Illinois?
Supporting your chosen candidate is done by every politician, not just NJ.
Bridgegate? Nothing to do with him. Beachgate? Blame the Hudson County guy with the porn mustache. State law requires state parks to shut down in the case of no budget. Kinda like the present Democrat owned shutdown on a national level.
ARC tunnel? He squashed an awful deal-NJ was 100% responsible for the inevitable billions of dollars in cost overruns.
Pensions? He put more money into the pension fund that all previous Govs-combined. And his solutions (change state employees to a wonderful gold rather than platinum health plan was denied-by state Democrats protecting their special interest voters.
NJ credit rating? Think the tax and spend Democratic Legislature had anything to do with that?
Sandy? You have a problem with bi-partisan natural disaster responses?
Botching Sandy response? First up, the initial Federal funds were slow walked. Afterwards it was handled great. Compared to NY's response it was miraculous.
Medical marijuana got through, yes?
Gas tax? Yup. The TTF was drained by many, and since the Dems here made NJ road construction subject to 'prevailing wage' laws we overpay 30% on projects. Gee, if we had 30% more money we wouldn't need a gas tax increase.

Assuming the stock market doesn't crash, the state pensions will be in default around 2021. The default will happen sooner if we do get a major market pullback.

Though Murphy will want to, he won't be able to tax his way out of the problem, especially with the new SALT limitations. I suspect the end of Murphy's 1st term will look similar to Corzine's with a major budget crises.

Riiiiight

Keep telling yourself that. It had nothing to do with:
? Ignoring NJ in an immediately trashed attempt to run for higher office
? Following Trump around like a lap-dog for a year, in a quickly trashed attempt to land a position in the administration
? He's an arrogant $#@!!, who has no respect for his constituents (Bridgegate, Beachgate, yelling, "Who cares about a blizzard, I'm going to Disneyworld!" etc)

I'm pretty sure those are the big ones. BTW I have no problems with an elected official who is looking 3 steps ahead in their career -- as long as they don't neglect their responsibilities in the process, which he clearly did.

Oh, and....
? Killing the ARC Tunnel and ignoring public transit
? Doing his part to wreck NJ's credit rating
? Reneging on promises to fund state pensions
? Working with Obama during Sandy (which I supported, but permanently infuriated many conservatives)
? Botching the follow-through on Sandy
? Blocked medical marijuana
? Raising gas tax (which I actually support, but is not a popular move)

He may say he doesn't care, but I'm guessing Guadagno did. Christie's unpopularity certainly contributed to her electoral loss.

Riiiiiiight

First of all, spare us the pre-emptive Whataboutism. Even if Murphy turns out to be another Corzine, that does not in any way justify Christie's massive errors and arrogance.

Second, yes fiscal pain tends to happen when your predecessor is fiscally irresponsible. Christie chronically underfunded state pensions; sold off the proceeds for the state lottery for a short-term gain; caused revenue shortfalls with tax cuts; ensured minimal federal infrastructure assistance by illegally seizing ARC Tunnel funds, and using it to fix nearby roads; delayed the tunnel project (which we desperately need) and made it phenomenally more expensive. All of this and more, mostly to try and convince national Republicans that he was a fiscal conservative, and didn't really hug Obama that one time.

I laugh even harder when conservatives tell progressives to think for themselves. Nothing could be funnier than that. Nothing. The conservative echo chamber/talking points and the inability to question even the most bizarre claims are why we are in the mess we are in today.

Chris Christie could have been a 5'10" 108 pound super model and it wouldn't have changed the fact that he pursued so many policies that were bad for the state in the mistaken belief he could convince Iowa he is their kind of conservative. I don't disagree that the state is broken and it's only going to get worse before ... it keeps getting worse. There may be no realistic answers to solve NJ's biggest problems - that isn't Christie's fault. Posturing on immigration, guns, killing and/or underfunding infrastructure, etc. - those are his fault. For all the talk about uniting and courting Dems, he's left the state far more divided than when took office.

Great point, except I'm not a conservative, so...(voted democrat more than 50% of the time). It's my observation living in one of the bluest of the blue states.

I don't disagree with some of your points. But his approval rating belies some of the things that went well (or at least better than his predecessors). This state is indeed broken. Between Abbott funding, pensions and outright unchecked corruption in places like Jersey City.

Not sure how you missed it, but: Christie is the least popular governor since they started keeping track, 50 years ago. He's leaving with a 13% approval rating. He did a terrible job as governor, most notably screwing over commuters by canceling the ARC Tunnel in a vain attempt to burnish his credentials as a conservative.

No one should be surprised in the slightest that NJers are thrilled to get another reminder that the chump is no longer in office.

I may not have liked him much at all, but you're going to miss him the same way Anti-Trumpers miss Bush (it's a real thing. A lot of "maybe we shouldn't have complained so hard back then, becasue no one listens to us now/Boy who cried wolf scenario). The oncoming explosion of property taxes, and taxes in general wil make Corzine look like MOther Theresa. That, combined with this Sanctuary State nonsense, and you're going to realize it wasn't so bad. I laugh hardest when liberals/democrats, the party of body positivity in praise of obese women in fashion, focus on Christie's weight when there is definitely plenty of valid things to attack. Think for yourselves for once. Stop being idiots. He wasn't great, but he wasn't horrible either.

The most enjoyable part of the post-gubernatorial phase of the Christie saga will be watching his (continued) freefall to ignominy. You don't treat people the way he did/does without having to endure consequences; the beach photo from last summer captures the essence of Christie in a way no 500 page book could.
