We are a Jersey City bakery (and eventually bistro) and have already done a number of wedding cakes.

We're under construction, but baking off-site while we work to get the doors open.

We have section of our website dedicated to wedding cakes (http://www.cocoabakerycafe.com/WeddingCakes.htm) and we'd be happy to sit down and talk to you about what you'd like regarding your cake.

Carlo's gets all the publicity, but Giorgio's in Hoboken (further down, Washington between 11th and 12th) is a wonderful family-run bakery. The storefront is less glitzy than Carlo's, but if you're more interested in the actual quality of the cake itself, rather than fancy decoration, check them out.

Also, since someone mentioned it above, Payard in Manhattan recently closed.

"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "otherwise you wouldn't have come here."

How festive. Guess we'll be in the same price range then for 65 people. Plus the fact that I promised my fiance that he can have a cake shaped like the Star Trek Enterprise.

You need to define what you want to spend. in the NY metro area cakes usually starts at $9 bucks a slice. My wedding cake was simple and great but it was $600 bucks for 50 people.

Love living here :)

Mazurs...yum! +1

The best cake I ever had was from Michelle's in Fort Lee, right off the Turnpike:

Buttercup bakery. They have a location on the upper west side and in midtown east.
They will deliver to jersey city
their red velvet is to die for. http://www.buttercupbakeshop.com/index.html

Also: Payard on the upper east side is world famous. My wedding cake came from there years and years ago. It is outrageously expensive but amazeing.

Good Luck

They are filming at Carlos now! My friend was there and saw them film a "consultation with Buddy".

Magnolia Bakery in the West Village, somewhere near West Street. They do a very, very fine red velvet cake.

Cocoa Bakery in JC (not open yet but she makes cakes to order). I haven't had wedding cake from there, but I have had her chocolate cake and it's delicious. Better than Carlo's, I think.

Can someone recommend a bakery for wedding cakes (red velvet is strong preference) that's not Carlo's or Made with Love? Doesn't have to be JC though the wedding is local.

I e-mailed the recommended Cynthia but it seems the Cupcake Salon is no longer at the mall so not sure if she's still around.

Thanks!

I forget the name. Anyone know? I know they have her card and info at Tia's by the front of the store.

This woman did our wedding cake. It was fantastic and very reasonable. Some guests said it was the best wedding cake they ever had.

Unfortunately, I cannot remember her name! I will have to ask my wife and then post later.

Her name was Cynthia and last time she stopped by here, she said she was opening up a new bakery in Newport Mall

I don't have her # right now, but her website is

http://www.tbpresentscynful.com/

I've never purchased anything from her, but many people still stop by here looking for her and I hear great things about her cakes!

i had my cake made by Cynthia at Cynful Treasures on York Street. We had an amazing red velvet cake with cheesecake icing. My wedding was two years ago and people still talk about it.

Oh, wait, I think she might have been named Cynthia? And the bakery was called Cynful. Wouldn't know how to get in touch with her now.
