Don't worry about it....It's ok during the day. I always walked....The danger was when Ferris is out on lunch break....

Music for Ardvarks is a great class. Check Hoboken Ardvarks on the web, but he runs a class at the Karate place on Newark Ave, but a quick LightRail ride into Hoboken worked for me. Also, the Little Gym by Pathmark on Grand Street is ok. Not the best, but it's a good place for the kids to run around with other kids for an hour.....

Peg Perego Freestyle worked really well when my son was lighter and not walking...I could pop him in and out quickly and easily in subways/Path/bus/lightrail especially those stations that aren't HC accessible. The Peg Perego stroller allows you to pick up the baby with one hand and fold the stroller with the other hand with one quick button. When my son started walking and got a little heavier, I went with the McClaren. It's smaller/less bulky. But, it's not as easy to fold quickly. You need two hands and sometimes it doesn't lock shut after folding which makes it really awkward. I miss using the Peg Perego, especially when I find myself in some deep subway station with no elevator or a broken elevator. 5 flights is slow-going with a 2 year old....Good luck.

Bar is really nice. Bartenders are great, except for one inside guy. He was terrible. Maybe he was just having a bad night. I?ll give him a onetime pass, and that?s it.

Love the mix of JC people, Downtown people and Boater people.

The food is not very good except for that stewed tomato/basil brushetta stuff (?canned plum tomatoes?) I Loved it. But, then again, I?m Irish, and apparently we have no culinary expertise, so try it at your own risk....

My husband loves the fact that he can smoke at the outside bar.

Will go Back for drink...Maybe one night after some Haute Italian at the Olive Garden.....MMMMmmmmm! Now, that?s Italian!

I don?t defend Shoprite. The employees of that store are horrendous, and the produce is rotten most times. But, it?s the cheapest place around, and it?s well-stocked. Try going off-hours, far better experience. And, if you have a car, go to Hoboken.

The Pathmark in the Old Colony Square is a better experience. But, it?s limited and more expensive. The Pathmark on 440 has a much better selection, and the produce is very nice for a supermarket.

A&P is totally overpriced. $13.49/lb for organic chicken...Come on!

Be careful in Stop N Shop in Bayonne. I once opened some really rotten meat, had to toss it. And, a friend had a maggot (worm or whatever) in her salmon....It?s a little dirty.

Morton Williams is part of Wakefern food Coop. Same as Shoprite, and I believe Associated in the City....That?s why you will occasionally see ?ShopRite? brand there.

And, to the original poster, I?m just curious. Were you rude?

p.s. I think it was noted previously, but there appears to be a baby boom in Manhattan. As I mentioned I switched insurance, so I had to find a new doctor. Very few accepting new OB patients.....

Highly recommend Downtown Women OBGYN. They are on Broadway in Soho.....My Doctor was Dr. Lajoie. Wonderful. She didn't deliver my son, Dr. Goodstein and the wonderful Staff Doctor delivered him. I know they accept Aetna because that WAS my insurance....We have since switched, and I had to switch doctors. Not happy about that! I actually considered paying out of pocket until I realized that was silly:o)

I live in JC and had my son in the City... (Downtown Women too! They are the best!!!!) Hospitals in the City far-superior. If you really prefer Jersey, I would recommend Hackensack.

Don?t worry so-much about getting there in time if you do choose the City. I mean, there is absolutely the chance that you will hit traffic, but that can happen anywhere. I had to rush, myself. We took car service, and they got me there in no time at all....NYU is not luxurious, but the nurses and the staff were absolutely wonderful.....It?s also right off the FDR, so it?s fairly easy to get there by car (which I assume you would do while in labor).

I also recommend Weill-Cornell. I believe they have a maternity ward in the NY Downtown Hospital now (that?s right over the river near the Seaport...the old Beekman hospital). I believe it?s on William Street.

I would NOT recommend Jersey City doctors or hospitals. I?ve lived here all my life, and you couldn?t pay me to get non-emergency medical care here.....

Christ just threw out a stillborn baby a few months back....In the garbage. They had to dig through a landfill to find it....

Stick to charcoal and keep water nearby....Legal or not, propane tanks are very, very, very dangerous on multi-dwell balcony, roof or deck. Huge explosion. Fast-moving fires.....Check them out on youtube....gas grill explosions.....Even in the yard, you should keep them well-away from the house.

They?re not at all outnumbered. Not everyone who enjoys a night out is a hipster. And, not every professional is a cranky old man in a bathrobe yelling about noise. If you live anywhere near the Lampost or Lucky 7?s, you?ve chosen poorly if it?s quiet living you?re after. You might consider a gated community or luxury building. Or, dare I say, the burbs?.Otherwise, please stop complaining about street noise in my neighborhood, crickets keep me up at night!

I am so excited this is finally happening!!! I wasn?t in the neighborhood for the voting, so I?m just hoping that someone thought about planting lots and lots of trees in the playground. It?s boiling hot in there in the summer! That metal slide is like 10,000 degrees in July! Looking forward to the new park! I hope there?s something for everyone and that we begin to be mindful of each others? needs?.kid people, dog people (dogs on leashes now that you have a place), basketball people, cricket people, sitting on benches people, picnic people, all kinds of people?..And, everyone, please let?s keep it clean!!! Bottles, and garbage, and broken glass, and dog poop, and baby diapers, and all sorts of junk??Use the trash cans already!!!!! Hopefully, there will be no excuses and no complaints when it?s done!

?knockout??I haven?t heard that in a long time? That was a factual game around here many years ago, but I do not know that it still exists?.or doesn?t?And, of course, it was a bad thing back then, and I certainly do not defend it. But, it was far different than what these High School sociopaths are about today. I am certain that I, a mom walking with her little boy, would be fair game these days?I was in Colony Square on Friday afternoon with my son around lunchtime, and when I saw the gangs of Ferris kids coming from around the corner, I took off?.fast!!! It?s a very sad state of affairs when your number one predator is a High School kid?..In the City, four or five cop cars surround the larger high schools at dismissal?.WE NEED MORE COPS!!!! With that being said, it?s also really important to keep a question from becoming a rumor?.Can anyone confirm that this even happened? And, if it did, was it really random?

Just can't stay away

I lived on The Blvd. just below McGinley Square for 10 years before anything was gentrified. I never had a problem, well, except for once the cops chased and caught a couple of drug dealers right in the middle of my backyard Lobster party, but hey?it?s a City:o)

The Supermarkets aren?t very good, but you can get milk and the essentials at C-Town. Galore Foods is overpriced (he?s been robbing the old ladies for years). Neida?s used to have a great Cuban, The VIP has a nice Cheesecake, I think Lee Sims chocolate is still there, and you?re close to Blvd. Drinks ? need I say more?

Seriously though, my apartment had an alarm system which I recommend. I didn?t have a car, but my roommates did park in our driveway. We never had a problem, but again, it was a driveway with a motion detector spotlight. And, I walked home from the Path at 9:00 every night. But, this was along the Blvd. with lots of traffic. I wouldn?t go strolling down dark side streets late at night, but there are always cabs outside the Path. So, keep your wits about you?.Consider yourself a target always and use your Noodle if you have one. And, if you don?t, stick to Downtown.

p.s. I wouldn't walk along Bergen Avenue too late at night.

They should charge less...I have huge windows all over my apartment...More light means more sun in the summer (even with thermal curtains). The outside walls are brick, and it's seriously like a brick oven in there. Once the heat's in, it's an inferno all summer. And, in the winter - no matter what I do, I cannot keep that draft out...Historic District - Marvin Windows....My PSE&G bill is out of hand....

Personally, far too many to count or repeat:o) I?ve heard some stories about the old County jail which was near Five Corners, but I never had the pleasure of spending any time there, myself. The most notorious would have to be the Medical Center (now the Beacon). You couldn?t pay me to live there?.I still have nightmares about that place?.

Just can't stay away

I don?t know when this rumor began, but I know from experience that we used to throw our shoes up on the wires here in JC back when I was a kid in the 80s. There were a pair or two outside my very house, and trust me, mom and dad were neither selling nor marking gang territory.

It was just something to do. Someone mentioned boredom, and I?d say that?s about right.

And, I can?t imagine that something that was so common suddenly turned into drug dealer markings. Besides, wouldn?t that be a huge tip-off to the authorities? Most dealers are smarter than that. As far as gang tags? That?s a maybe if, say, like a neighborhood is lined with Red sneakers and nothing else. Or, blue sneakers and nothing else or whatever gang colors/insignia?that might make sense.

Otherwise, it?s an urban legend, and I wouldn't worry about it.

But, you guys should try it sometime. It?s not as easy to get them up there as you might think. And, it is kinda fun when you take turns. Of course, it is destruction of property.

I live on Brunswick with my family.....It's fine. I love it, actually. It's a little noisy at street level when the bars close, but I dont' have a problem with that. Keep in mind that it is Jersey City, so you have to always watch your back; especially after dark. The side streets are very dark, indeed. And, the fact is that downtown is targeted for muggings, etc. But, I walk home every night at 9:00. No problems.
