i second john....he is the friendliest!!!!

one day sitting in VVP eating lunch, we started talking...we had such a good conversation that i walked around with him for an hour, just chit chatting about dog walking and jersey city and let me tell you, my man is professional. he treated the dogs like they were his own. he documents when he's there and when he leaves. i was highly impressed.

matter of fact, i have to call him to take care of my cat for mid july!

I have been using John for 4 years and he is great. His number is 201-780-5861. I would be lost without him.

I definitely agree that John, from Doggie's Playmate is the way to go. He has an amazing connection with the dogs he walks; even my dog who is aloof with people, at best, adores him. He is very responsible and thorough. I have used several other walkers downtown jc, and he is the only one who has exceeded my expectations.

Hi We need someone to feed our cat and dog this Saturday night and Sunday am in Paulus Hook. Can anyone recommend a pet sitting service? We used a great one a few years back, but I don't remember the names...
Thanks in advance!

Emmersone - check out www.doggonebizzy.com. We've used Erin a few times. She's very professional and our guys love her. Keep in mind, though, that there is an extra charge during holidays. Good luck.

[size=small]My usual dogsitter has also got to leave town while I am away over Memorial day weekend. Does anyone have any recommendations or advice on kennels/dog boarding in JC. I have 2 smallish dogs. I appreciate any feedback.
Thanks

I know others have had mixed experiences but we (both humans and doggies) love Boca's Play n Stay (www.bocasplaynstay.com). I judge a place by our dogs' reactions when we pull up to it and I can tell you that our dogs know the route there and start getting excited 1/2 mile away. They pull on their leashes all the way inside and don't look back when we leave.

They have both indoor and outdoor play areas now which is great with the nice weather.

Yep - I second Boca's. Alternatives are Petsmart in Secaucus, and North Bergen Animal Hospital 9018 Kennedy Blvd. North Bergen, NJ.

Make sure you get all your dog's shots updated at least 4 days before boarding them. No place will take them without updated shots, including Bordatella.

To be fair, I used to work at boca's, but knowing that, I would still recommend them as a pet sitting service. They can come to your house, or you can leave your dogs with them for the weekend, either way the people who will be taking care of your dogs care greatly about the animals and will give them plenty of care and attention.

If you are interested in a kennel, check out Boca's Play-n-Stay on Forrest Ave off Pacific. The only hitch is that they need to meet the dog beforehand just to check temperment, etc. And the dog needs to be up to date on all shots.

I have a pretty high maintenance dog and she does really well there. The staff is great and they have lots of loyal customers. If you are without a car, they have a pick up/drop off service.

Also, I know they book up fairly quickly for the holidays so if you are interested, you may want to call soon.

Good luck!

(it just occured to me that your pet might be a cat...or a ferret or a lizard or a hamster...in which case I have no recommendations. )

Hi,

Does anyone know a good pet sitter or pet hotel for cats in the area? It doesn't necessarily have to be in Jersey City, but I prefer a place on this side of the Hudson River.

Would a dog walker be willing to come to my apartment and feed my cat in my absence for a week?

I have found a co-worker who is willing to take care of my cat, but I would like to have contingency plans).

Thanks in advance.

Atsushi

Pet Smart in Secaucus has a Pet Hotel that looks well maintained and clean.

Great! I'm sure that the actual place won't be as nice as they show on the video, but just looking at the video, it does look like a pretty good place.

Thanks!

I highly recommend 'A Wheelie Good Pet Care Service' ... my two cats (even the so so shy one) love Linda. Even if I'm gone for a week or more, when I return home my guys are not stressed or freaked out ... just happy to see me.

She comes over to my apartment once or twice a day & feeds them, cleans the litter box, etc., but more importantly (to me) really plays with them. She is a gem. Also, cats tend to be happier when they stay in their own environment. I trust Linda so much that she keeps a set of my keys.

Here's her contact info: (201) 892-8463

We use Dog Gone Bizzy, they walk a lot of the dogs in our building as well as check in on the kitties while people are away. They even keep a daily diary for you while you're gone. We're big fans:

I have a small pet-sitting service in the Old Bergen/Greenville/West Side/Journal Square/West Side areas , I drive so it's not too bad for me, I know you have a lot of sitters in the downtown area... I do have some clients in Portside tho.... and I know there is a shortage of sitters in my area. So if anyone is interested I have GREAT references... altho I DONT do afternoon walks on the weekdays... I have another job.. I do early morning, evening, late night, and weekends all day, and always around on holidays.

I have experience with Chinchillas, dogs, cats, fish, horses, chickens ( I know not so much in JC)
I was raised on a farm.
