Re: New liquor store (Buy Rite) coming to downtown

We went to Buy Rite last Sunday for the first time. The variety and sheer size of the place were amazing. I found the store clean, prices more than reasonable, and staff friendly and seemed to really know their stuff. They were also having wine tastings when we were there.

We went in thinking we would just look around, and walked out with 1/2 a case of wine and a few packs of various beers.

Well done. We'll be back.

Now I can't imagine why anyone would have a grudge against a stranger who wrote nasty things and personal information about them. Go figure.

Emmersone - check out www.doggonebizzy.com. We've used Erin a few times. She's very professional and our guys love her. Keep in mind, though, that there is an extra charge during holidays. Good luck.

I'm impressed with anyone who can run. Good luck, Steve. I hope you make your time goal, but more importantly I hope you make your support goal. I just made our donation (thanks for the link, 25).

ETA: Are people going to cheer him on?

Our group of folks ranged from 6-8 or 10, I think. We stayed there for 40 minutes. I was happy to see the police on bikes, a squad car/van, and an officer on a motorcycle making the rounds in the short time we were there. Didn't see anything suspicious. Actually, I don't think I saw any kids the whole time. Thanks for organizing this. It was nice to meet more neighbors.

They didn't break down our door, they just followed someone in after they used their key.

We are fine and nobody in the building was hurt. It's still pretty disturbing, though. I've never been so happy not to live on the first floor and to have a yappy dog.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, but the 8th and HP happened in the evening (if you're referring to the one I referred to in the thread I created). Although the way things are going, you might be referring to something else...

Well. Someone just put a sign in our apartment building that there was a push-in robbery last friday. All I know is that three thugs followed someone into the building and that nobody was hurt. As I get more details I will share.

Update: They were armed and forced themselves in after someone on the first floor entered the building. The person who was robbed filed a police report.

I asked the Inspector that came by today about grills. He said you can't have any type of grill on your balcony, and anything in the back yard needs to be 15 feet from the building. My neighbor must have known that one because this morning his grill wasn't on his balcony. heh.

Our building is getting expected tomorrow and I'm wondering if our neighbors above us with the gas grill on the balcony are going to get busted.

I would really like to hear a description of the thugs, too. I was under the impression that it was a group of kids, and have been keeping my eye out, but now it sounds like it's two kids.

I saw the GA's probably a month ago walking toward HP. It was the first time I'd seen them in this area, and it was around the time people were thinking a gang was meeting there on Sunday nights.

Forgot to mention that we finally saw the pimp last Wednesday. He was in a lime green and white striped suit, complete with matching hat, cane, and sunglasses. We saw him walking down Grove in front of Bar Majestic. Damn me for not having a camera phone! I was so excited, too.

I filled out the form when I was at the meeting, but then I didn't hear anything back. Should I email with my information?

I'm a little surprised that Steve doesn't want the GA here. Not surprised about Troy not wanting them. What's up with Troy and the Chicken Little comment, though?

I thought the meeting was interesting. I had never seen former Officer Mac (now Captain, right?) or Steve Fulop before, although I've read about both of them on here. And the Captain even mentioned jclist at one point.

As far as the Guardian Angels, I didn't talk to them hardly at all, although I met the one that lives in Jersey City. He's a very nice, approachable man. I got the impression that they didn't want to step on toes and just introduce themselves and start talking without an introduction first. I also wished they had gotten a chance to talk as it was a big reason I went to the meeting.

Having said that, I thought the meeting was interesting. Some of the crimes they went over were ones I hadn't read about on here. I think all of the crimes they specifically went over were for the last month (some as recently as this past weekend).

It was also nice meeting Bright Moment :)

I just had my first GA sighting in JC. He was waiting for the PATH train at Grove. Yep, he was wearing the beret.

This is really very interesting. Thanks for putting it together. I agree that if it's possible to add the time that the crimes took place, it would be additionally helpful. Thanks!
