I took the contact information for Leny (as mentioned above) earlier this year from this post and really like her. I live in VVP area and her and her sister Daisy clean our 2 level apartment every two weeks for $60...again, her info is:

After having our first child. We need some help around the house with cleaning. We have a 2 BR Rowhouse that needs some sprucing up. This would like be a one off until we can get on our feet then we'll consider looking into regular visits. We do have a dog so the cleaner will need to be dog friendly.

Qualities we are looking for:
*Trustworthy
*Attention to detail
*Reliable
*Economical
*Dog Friendly

The last thread we saw on this was pretty old so we're looking for some new good recommendations. We're open to both companies such as reginas maids as well as private housekeepers. Please let us know your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

My name is Mary and I clean at The Beacon--I have references am thorough and reliable. My number is 201-417-1748. I also do specialty dog sitting--I am not a dog walker, but will walk your dogs and keep them at my home part time while you are gone for a period of time. Much cheaper and better than a kennel.

Just curious. How much would I expect to pay for someone to clean my 1100 square foot 2 bed/2 bath apt?

Crystal Clean is the worst cleaning service I have ever used. They are surface cleaners at best with zero attention to detail. Awful experience! At $40-$50 per CLEANER per HOUR... they should be amazing and they are not!

Can anyone recommend a good cleaning service? I came home last Friday to see that my current (well now, former) cleaning service did less than a half-ass job. I'm not incredibly picky or anything. If I am paying to have my apartment cleaned, I just expect it to be cleaned.

I use Regina's Maids. About $85 for them to clean our (pretty large) 3 bedroom apartment. They do a decent job, no complaints.

Does anyone know of a trustworthy cleaning lady in the Lincoln Park Area. How do you know she's trustworthy? Is she someone who can have a key to your apartment? Price, details, etc. I have no time to clean my apartment/hotel room myself.

another vote for spotless planet here. i've been using them for about a month now. they do a super thorough job (in fact i think they probably over-work for the amount they charge but i won't complain about that), and they're very nice.

I used Spotless Planet, and they were very good. I have a 7 month old, so I was glad to find them...She's Green, so no harsh chemicals around the little one....I was a little skeptical about Green Cleaning products (I'm a comet and bleach fanatic:o), but I hired them to do the kitchen & bathroom of my new apartment when I moved....(you know, heavy duty cleaning that's generally not done properly before a move), and it looks like the green products just as well as the regular stuff. I'll definitely use them again.

Try Spotless Planet. We liked them initially because they use non-toxic stuff - safe around kids, cats, etc. I think they're pretty small, so it should be the same people coming to clean each time.

I contacted Esther (Dream Home Services) based on feedback on this thread... she returned my initial email almost immediately indicating interest but then when I called & emailed her she never responded again!

ugghhh!

Does anyone else have a really good, thorough cleaner they trust and can recommend? I prefer to have the same person/people coming each week instead of rotating people in my house that I don't know.

I am five months pregnant and tired... Please HELP!

Thanks!

I just moved on the 1st and used "Spotless Planet" for the heavy-duty stuff - behind stove, fridge, cabinets, etc. She's out of Jersey City, and they did a great job....very accommodating and affordable. she's green also which is nice....

You can help protect yourself with a high-end lock like Medeco which has keys that can't be copied without presenting a special card to the locksmith that only you have. This will keep a sketchy employee of a cleaning service from "borrowing" your key and copying it. The only problem is these things are expensive -- the deadbolts are around $200 and key copies can be $25. I think it's worth it.

Such funny timing -- just last night friends and I were talking about the level of paranoia around having people have keys to your place -- cleaning peeps, dog walkers, etc. We came to the conclusion that it's a whole lot of work to set up a fake biz just to rob people. Knock wood.

I have Dream Home Services come every two weeks. (They are an offshoot of what was formerly known as Rags To Roses, which closed.) Quite a few people on this board use them. I do not have a single complaint.

Main contact is Esther at:

Essygreeneyes@aol.com

Good luck!

Wow, it was almost like I posted that response. Giving away my keys always makes me feel uneasy. Great point about people not setting up work to rob others, but I feel like there is always that one evil employee.

So, Dream Home Services, I'll look into them. Thank you very much. Any other suggestions out there? Any other other stories on house cleaners?

I've always been too paranoid to hire a house cleaner for fear of having my things stolen or broken; but mostly stolen.

Does anyone here use house cleaning services that they just swear by. One they just could not live without?

Now, my wife and I both do our parts in cleaning our 2 bed room apartment, but we kind of hate it. It's not fun, and takes too much time. We figured if we hired someone twice a month to clean the apartment, it wouldn't take so much of our time when we did it. Any suggestions??

We pay about $80 each time our cleaning service comes by. I'm not sure of the square footage, but it's two floors, three bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a kitchen (no living room). They provide most of their own cleaning supplies, but they do seem to use a lot of our paper towels!

We don't tip every month, just for the holidays.

Can anyone give me an idea of what a cleaning service or person charges for cleaning a 2 story, 1500 sq ft home? I have never used a service before and would like to know if you are supposed to tip or what we are supposed to provide for the cleaning... any info on going with a service rather than an individual?

Esther is the woman taking over for Diane from Rags to Roses. Though we had one or two times that we gave some negative feedback (in about 20 times), Esther is great, responsive and cares about what she does. This is her email if you're interested.

Can anyone recommend a cleaning person or service to tackle a small but messy kitchen and bathroom. Willing to pay what it's worth.

Thanks

Rags to Roses went so downhill (not that they were so amazing to begin with) that they're shutting down the business. One of their employees is taking over many of the clients. Diane is out, and I assume that messages to that email address will not be getting replies.

What about a cleaning person who works independantly? Does anyone have anyone they can recommend?

Not a huge fan of the local cleaning companies since they overcharge.

Hi, can anyone recommend a good cleaning service? Someone that will do a great job once or twice a month. Mainly kitchen and baths in a 3 story brown stone. Thanks.
