Hook Pharmacy - Grand Opening
#2
Just can't stay away
Just can't stay away

So I walked past Hook Pharmacy tonight and found out it is opening tomorrow at 9:00am. They seem to have a good selection of just about anything, including a nice selection of the Hyland's Homeopathic line and various health and beauty products (as well as other standard things you could want or need from a pharmacy). A welcome addition to the area, I am sure.

Just came from here for a post-dinner treat. Such a great selection and wonderful staff to match. Will be going back in the near future for sure!

It'll be right next door to Hook Pharmacy, right down the street from Satis...not sure when both spots will open...hopefully soon.

Regardless of who you vote for, it is important to vote. You have to think about what is best for the schools. At the end of the day, it's about the communities, families and children they serve.

Good point - Special Education Services are crucial, as are useful interventions/resources for the entire district.
People, especially parents, are always scared of change. I am looking forward to meeting a few of the candidates on Thursday at Zeppelin Hall. Hopefully concerned citizens (parents or not) will come out.

Does anyone know of a pet-friendly cleaning service in the area? My housekeeper, who was pet-friendly, is having surgery and won't be able to clean for a while. Any suggestions are appreciated (except telling me to clean my own house). :)

Couldn't one say that all of JC is "up and coming"? Same could be said for Hoboken, certain parts of NYC, etc...every city is "up and coming" depending on the block/area you are talking about.

We have good Italian. Prestos, Casa Dante, Laico's, etc. We do need more GOOD cocktail places in town. I enjoy Bar Majestic, but would like more options with a similar feel. We lack consistently good "going out" options.

We definitely need more vegetarian restaurant options. I love Subia's, and if they opened a full-on restaurant, where one could have a sit down dinner with a bottle of wine, that would be fantastic.

If you want to know what happened so badly, why not ask a neighbor or call the police department? Crime happens everywhere, Paulus Hook is no exception, as you know. I've seen busts go down in the parking lot next to my building. It comes with the charm of living in a city. :)

Regina's maids came here once when our usual cleaning service wasn't available. Not only do they work VERY slowly, they also use very toxic cleaning products, even after I asked them to use what I had. They work slow to over charge - so watch them.

You make it sound like it's an easy thing to do, I don't know if you tried to get anything out of dog's mouth while it was determined on eating it, but dogs don't cooperate with reason they might choke or cost in vet bills.

Actually - I manage to get things out of my dog's mouth all the time. It's called a simple command of "drop it". Or, bring a treat for the dog that will entice him or her to drop the nasty chicken bone.

Why does this seem easy to me? If you see your dog eating a chicken bone, stop them...and if you see a chicken bone on the sidewalk kick it out of the way. As far as lack of garbage cans - that is true. Carry a "trash bag" type of receptacle and throw out the "trash" when you find the appropriate place for it.

1) Homework
2) Physical activity (the gym or something active to get their energy out)
3) Book reading
4) Have them make you lunch
5) Games like uno, monopoly, etc.
6) Video games as an absolute last resort

Went last night for dinner. The food and service were wonderful and even if we did pay a corkage fee, the prices are so reasonable that we didn't notice. I will be back many, many times.

Ordered delivery from here tonight. It took about an hour to arrive, but when it did it was nice and hot and fresh, and everything was great! Definitely planning to go back there again and often.

Don't hate on the dumpling place. It is new, barely even open and they are doing as well as they can for just opening a week or so ago. Be happy it's not your typical chinese takeout...besides, if you don't like it, simply don't order from them again...problem solved!

I can't speak more highly of anyone than Mary Ann and her team at JC Dog Walker. I adopted my dog Arthur in May from the North Shore Animal League, and they have been taking care of him during the day ever since. They are kind, compassionate and very reasonably priced.

Liberty View

Just venting here:

Does anyone know when Liberty View became a "no left turn" road? I live in Liberty Harbor (unfortunately) and can't even make a safe left on crazy Grand St. now because we no longer can make a left at that light. I have to either go to Jersey Ave, make a left and then backtrack to my building, or turn in to a narrow road where most people are double parked, making the street very narrow. I guess the good news is that they have parking on Grand St. now?

Asbury Park is exit 102 off the parkway. I get there in an hour, and the beach is awesome. The boardwalk is great too, I recommend you try there as well....
