I will say it again - use these guys, they are all the things that you're looking for and they're great and SAFE:

I would recommend Metro Dogs. They're very nice people who truly care about dogs. Not just claim that they care about dogs and then let them run around unsupervised where the dog can get injured. My dog LOVES them. http://www.metrodogs.biz/

Trust me - I used a few others in downtown JC and they let the dogs run around on their own and get injured. These guys will treat your dogs like their own.

That's right, yours truly, your local friendly neighborhood Croft is in business in these areas. After much thought into the idea and realizing there is a need here, I decided to offer services to these areas. I will not be touching downtown or any address in Hoboken. There are plenty of walkers in those areas whom I will gladly recommend you to if I feel I am overstepping anyone's area.

I have a website with my rates and contact info at http://dogdayafternoon.weebly.com

I have references and I currently work at Liberty Humane Society. My flyers will be up around the Beacon in a day or two, and also around McGinley Square and the surrounding areas wherever flyers are permitted.

I'm looking for a petsitter last minute for my dog. I know there have been some resources listed in this forum some time ago, but I'm not sure that last minute requests could be handled right now. I really need someone that can take care of my dog in their home. My dog is a ten year old boston terrier that never liked kennels with lack of personal attention and staying in a cage. If I can find a reliable sitter, I will definitely use this on an ongoing basis. Any current recommendations would be appreciated.

Call John Amato

http://www.doggiesplaymate.com/aboutus.html

They are insured and he's a fixture of the downtown doggie scene. You have probably seen him around Van Vorst Park. He has his head shaven bald.

I highly recommend Paul. He's been my dogwalker for several months now.

He's awesome with dogs and has organized his schedule into play groups so that they can burn off plenty of energy and get some socialization. My dog is calm when I get home from work, which is a small miracle.

He also does boarding for very reasonable fees, and is very supportive of rescues.

I have a couple of friends that have tried Fetch Pet Care in the past and they were all happy and satisfied. They operate in JC and surrounding areas. Not sure about who to contact, but they have a site: Fetch Pet Care. The one friend had them stay over while on vacation, while the other hired them for daily walks.

I am a dog walker so i know pretty much every dog walker in the area.
gangster : you are taking about Vanessa and Liz Freedman. (petpetrol)
one of them(can't tell who) has gone on to do some other things but they still walk dogs and they look pretty whist doing it too.

Amongst the other dogwalkers, from what i see, MaryAnn is an excellent dogwaker.

For another optioin, I have a friend who has a dog walking/pet sitting business. She will even stay at your house with your pet while you are away if that's what you prefer.

Amy Berenbak - (201)661-3703

she's great!

I just checked out her website for you, NinasDogWalk.com.

Besides the really groovy illustration on her site's homepage, it lists her rates, e-mail address, phone number, customer reviews and all kinds of other helpful stuff.

Also, she has a Special Offer page where she offers first-time customers one free 30-minute walk and she provides discounts for customers who need more than more walk per week.

I am not a dog owner myself and I only know ninasdogwalk from her upbeat posts on JCList.com, but I hope this helps you out!

Thanks for the props Urban.

I have a small pet-sitting service in the Old Bergen/Greenville/West Side/Journal Square/West Side areas , I drive so it's not too bad for me, I know you have a lot of sitters in the downtown area... I do have some clients in Portside tho.... and I know there is a shortage of sitters in my area. So if anyone is interested I have GREAT references... altho I DONT do afternoon walks on the weekdays... I have another job.. I do early morning, evening, late night, and weekends all day, and always around on holidays.

I have experience with Chinchillas, dogs, cats, fish, horses, chickens ( I know not so much in JC)
I was raised on a farm.

We use Dog Gone Bizzy, they walk a lot of the dogs in our building as well as check in on the kitties while people are away. They even keep a daily diary for you while you're gone. We're big fans:

I highly recommend 'A Wheelie Good Pet Care Service' ... my two cats (even the so so shy one) love Linda. Even if I'm gone for a week or more, when I return home my guys are not stressed or freaked out ... just happy to see me.

She comes over to my apartment once or twice a day & feeds them, cleans the litter box, etc., but more importantly (to me) really plays with them. She is a gem. Also, cats tend to be happier when they stay in their own environment. I trust Linda so much that she keeps a set of my keys.

Here's her contact info: (201) 892-8463

Great! I'm sure that the actual place won't be as nice as they show on the video, but just looking at the video, it does look like a pretty good place.

Thanks!

Hi,

Does anyone know a good pet sitter or pet hotel for cats in the area? It doesn't necessarily have to be in Jersey City, but I prefer a place on this side of the Hudson River.

Would a dog walker be willing to come to my apartment and feed my cat in my absence for a week?

I have found a co-worker who is willing to take care of my cat, but I would like to have contingency plans).

Thanks in advance.

Atsushi

If you are interested in a kennel, check out Boca's Play-n-Stay on Forrest Ave off Pacific. The only hitch is that they need to meet the dog beforehand just to check temperment, etc. And the dog needs to be up to date on all shots.

I have a pretty high maintenance dog and she does really well there. The staff is great and they have lots of loyal customers. If you are without a car, they have a pick up/drop off service.

Also, I know they book up fairly quickly for the holidays so if you are interested, you may want to call soon.

Good luck!

(it just occured to me that your pet might be a cat...or a ferret or a lizard or a hamster...in which case I have no recommendations. )
