Re: Tenant rights

I've been living in the apartment for 3 years now, the only lease I signed was the original one, and that was good for one year. There isn't any formal agreement signed by both of us stating I would be month-to-month.

I've been searching online for NJ State laws in regards to this, but can't seem to find anything stating it's "against the law" to move out mid-month, which is what he told me.

I do know that he just showed up today to show the apartment to a realtor and didn't even call to let me know.

Tenant rights

Hi Everyone,

I am moving from my current apartment and gave my landlord 45 days notice. I stated my last day in the apartment would be January 15, 2011 and that I would be paying 1/2 month's rent. His response was that it was illegal in the state of NJ. Does anyone have any information on this?

Thanks in advance!

If there are so many wealthy, young professionals in the area who do not care for the retail/restaurants that exist in downtown JC, I suggest moving into Manhattan.

Thanks Everyone! At least now I know where NOT to go!

More specifically, we are hoping to buy a new car, if not, then a certified used. We are only looking at Ford right now, so if anyone has had a really good experience at a Ford dealer in the area, please let me know.

Thank you!

Anyone have good car karma with any dealer in particular on 440? Can anyone recommend a car dealership in the Jersey City area where they actually had a good experience?

Thank you!

Re: New Jersey Nears Vote on Letting Gays Marry

I agree with SamS: the deficit will be around for awhile; Christie will not be able to make it magically disappear. While Mr. Christie is powerless to fix our REAL problems, he has promised to be strong enough to fix our made up issues... by rejecting my rights to be able to marry my partner.

My partner and I have been together for four years, which pales in comparison to many of our friends who have been in committed relationships for 10-20 years. 50% of them have children, so the ignorant comment earlier about paying taxes into the school system is just that, ignorant.

I'm so tired of everyone asking what the big deal is! Educate yourselves, people. If you let me marry now, my federal taxes go down. This will allow us to save, buy a house and start paying local property taxes....which supports Jersey City schools!

Equality, while the right thing to do, is also a smart business decision, which is why the most competitive businesses and states have chosen this path. Everyone has this holier than thou attitude, which is not based in research, reality or even logic, for that matter.

No matter how traumatic your past or despairing your present may seem, there is hope for a new day in the program of Co-Dependents Anonymous.

I live in the HP area and I would definitely go. There is a shortage of coffee/tea places that you can go to and relax or bring the ole' laptop. I'm supportive of vegan desserts, but you should also have organic for those that do not enjoy vegan. A mixture of both to entice everyone.

I was watching a movie on my laptop when I heard the crash, then all the lights went out. I feel sorry for whoever owns the Prius that the transformer crashed into. This guy had to be drunk. Not only did he run over a metal barrier (block party on the 4th), but he took out the bottom half of the pole and crashed into my neighbor's front gate so hard the firefighters had to cut the gate to get the car out. A HUGE thanks to PSEG who restored power in less than two hours!!
