I strayed away from buffalo after trying the Ginger scallion and the Jerk wings at NuBar.

Give them a try if you're feeling frisky. They have SixPoint Resin on tap right now too which is a plus.

I've had great ones at PJ Ryan's Tavern. Utterly delicious!

That being said, I had the wings at P & 6th the other day and they were great. Blue cheese slathered directly onto the wings make for a sloppy yet delicious experience.

Very very good wings at Delenio's. I'd say the best we've had in a long time. Definitely nothing that good in JC. Surprising, I wouldn't think to order wings there, but I'm glad we did.

Hoboken Cluck U (Washington St) has delivered to me in Hamilton Park late at night. If you are downtown I'm sure they'd deliver.

How is the blue cheese at White Star? I hate when a place has good wings and then the blue cheese doesn't taste good.

I grew up on Cluck U - first when I was at Rutgers NB, about 25 years ago, then the one in Morristown. It's a franchise and for a LONG time I suggested to anyone that would listen to me that the southern end of Washington, in Hoboken, would be a great spot for one - but someone obviously eventually beat me to it! They're the best one in the area. I've ordered from the one on Communipaw and was generally unimpressed, and with the one near Journal Square all the wings had a strange, mustard-y aftertaste, and a weird consistency.

I've gotten wings from Villa Pizza, near the court house, and they're pretty good - albeit greasier than most. +1 on both Lucky 7's (pretty tasty for 25-cent wings!) and the Black Bear in Hoboken (that Tuesday night deal can't be beat).

I haven't been to the White Star in awhile but I'm looking forward to trying theirs.

try romanos on westside and union avenue. you'll be surprised of how good they are.

Henry's on the Hudson isn't priced great and I'm not sure they would do a big order, but they're really really good.

I'm looking at ordering some wings for the big game and want to know where I can get the best wings for a decent price. I'm open to any place not in JC but still in Hudson County.

Just to update this - I had wings at 9th and Coles (9&C) on Friday and was quite impressed - they had a nice skin (not crispy per se, but not soggy and the insides were not dry) plus they were dripping in sauce which is always a plus.

They also had happy hour from 6-12 which is hard to beat!

The food here wasn't stellar when they first opened, but they do seem to be getting better and if the wings are any indication then I look forward to trying their other dishes...

For a simple wing fix, I go to Luckys.

As for cluck u, order from the hoboken location. The JC one is hit or miss and I've given up on them.
If you're looking for smaller wings, they might not fit your bill as they're a little on the larger side. I go there for the variety of sauces as well as other items on the menu.

having eaten at the cluck u on communipaw and finding them pretty underwhelming, i doubt the quality of the hoboken one, as it's a chain.

white star is about as good as it gets in this area.

going to check out Cluck u as well - never even heard of it and I've been living in Jersey City for a decade now! Does the embankment serve true buffalo wings (rather than some sort of take off on buffalo wings with a different sauce)?

The problem I have found with most of the wings in this area is that they are too big, fatty and not crisp.

I second the Hamilton Inn vote and I think Iron Monkey's wings are also really good. I've also never been disappointed with the quality of the Embankment's wings, although unless you get them for half price at happy hour they're a little less than filling (I get two orders)

In downtown JC i would say whitestar.

But Cluck U has the best wings in the area. The hoboken location is better than the JC location and they deliver to downtown.

Thanks to all. Going to give white star a shot. Actually I have had the wings at Presto's and I agree that they were really good, which surprised me coming from an italian restaurant. I never think to order take out from them though and not sure they deliver.

While not exactly buffalo wings, the "Zesty Breaded Wings" from the Little Sandwich Shop at Bay and Grove are among my favorites downtown.

I also order regularly from Dominos (Hoboken) and get the frozen Weavers buffalo flats from A&P.

I love the wings at Hamilton Inn. They're big, meaty, crispy, and spicy. Last I checked, they're still running the NFL Sundays deal with half price wings on Sundays after 1pm.

I've had the White Star wings twice and both times they tasted off to me. They were more sweet than hot.

I'm all about White Star wings. I've tried lots of places around but nothing has come close to White Star for me.

I agree with the White Star bar.Believe it or not another good place is Presto`s even though it's basically an Italian restaurant we had them there and they were pretty good.

Iron Monkey has 25 cent wings most nights. They're pretty good for the price. Lucky 7's also has 25 cent wings on Mondays, which aren't as good but still, cheap enough that it doesn't really matter.

Best wings I've found in Jersey City are at the White Star Bar. They are not your gourmet Thai chili spiced/Sweet Honey BBQ imposters. The wings at the White Star are true to the simple Buffalo wing formula of crispy wings tossed in a hot sauce butter combination. At least that is what my pallet has concluded. Consistently tasty.

Anyone have any recs on where in downtown JC great buffalo wings (I'm talking hot wings - traditional style) can be found? Atomic wings seemed to be the closest thing we had.
