Is there a bar in downtown that shows Walking Dead on Sunday nights? Since football season is over I would think at least one place would host a 'dead' night so fans can meet/watch/discuss (drink)

PJ Ryans perhaps???

Second Place? JC isn't even in the top 10 (Although if we really work for it I'm sure we can get there).... Just like most things Jersey City the reputation distorts the reality...

We ordered a Cheese Steak Pizza from here and it was awesome! The steak was very juicy and the pizza wasn't soggy at all (although not crisp crust either which I prefer). Not healthy in the least but definitely one of the best specialty pizzas in JC. Looking forward to going there with BYOB - does anyone know if they'll have outdoor seating in summer?

What happened with their last Fundraiser? I know it was scheduled for the weekend before Halloween when we had the freak snow storm so I think it was cancelled? Hopefully they do more fundraisers in the summer - it's really a beautiful cemetary

We just adopted a second cat a few weeks ago and they really are great companions. I'm also deathly allergic to cats and if you keep your place clean and don't let them scratch or bite (most won't unless you're playing rough with them) allergies are generally not bad and you will adapt :)

I've been there a few times since it's opened - the coffee is pretty good although I think more than one flavor brewed at a time would be nice (and this from a guy who generally prefers coffee flavored coffee).

Also hope to see an expansion on the menu and hopefully some outdoor seating - The way sidewalk permits are in JC if they apply now they may have one by June...

I encourage everyone to join the litter patrols - I think most neighborhood associations have them. It's a good way to get outside and make the neighborhoods look a little better. If we wait for the city to take care of the problem we might as well just move...

Signed - just a thought but maybe someone from the Downtown JC Historic Special Improvement District could bring a laptop with wifi card to grab petition signatures - I would but I don't have the equipment... Good luck!

Just want to get the word out (although the show's run is almost over) - I went to this last night with my girlfriend and it was AWESOME! A very well acted and well directed play it absolutely exceeded expectations and we will definitely be going to future productions at the JC Theater!

My only regret was not going sooner!

Plus, they had $2 wine and home made baked goods. C'mon - you can't beat that!

They really need to move that dumpster out front and get some sidewalk seating - it's a wonderful spot to have a few tables and chairs a la Maro & Pepe's but that gian trash heap outside really puts people off.

I hear sidewalk permits are a pain in the ass to get, but I think one would more than pay for itself for that place.

Also, what's with the garage doors for sale for the garage next to it? Strange...

Just to update this - I had wings at 9th and Coles (9&C) on Friday and was quite impressed - they had a nice skin (not crispy per se, but not soggy and the insides were not dry) plus they were dripping in sauce which is always a plus.

They also had happy hour from 6-12 which is hard to beat!

The food here wasn't stellar when they first opened, but they do seem to be getting better and if the wings are any indication then I look forward to trying their other dishes...

I saw Contra, Millipede, Mario Bros and some driving game - didn't notice any air hockey but I was jumping up and down trying to look over the newspaper...

I could go for some MK or TMNT (that was 8 bit I think?) but otherwise respect the 1990 cutoff...

In the way of beers I hope they have Climax - tried their beers the other week and they were quite delicious (and potent)!

Saw them unloading a few more games out of a delivery truck this afternoon - getting close!!!

Is it too much to hope for Mortal Kombat and/or Primal Rage or are those games too 'modern' for Barcade?

I second the Hamilton Inn vote and I think Iron Monkey's wings are also really good. I've also never been disappointed with the quality of the Embankment's wings, although unless you get them for half price at happy hour they're a little less than filling (I get two orders)

I definitely recommend their risotto of the day and their soups - always very good flavors if not a bit expensive. I also enjoy the filet mignon steak sandwich and their fries are great (burgers are average).

I really love their beer selection too - lots to explore!

Has anyone used the Downtown Veterinary Clinic at 282 First St? I've been traveling 30 minutes to a Vet that I love. It's a small place with one doctor that knows my animal and is very kind and gentle, rather than a rotating group of 10 different doctors. My cat is sick and I'm thinking that maybe we should try the local place? I've heard mixed reviews. What has your experience been?
Thanks in advance.

We went here (and to the Hoboken office which is affiliated) and had a good experience (except they couldn't save our cat, but that wasn't their fault).

Dr. Chesney was especially kind, honest and sympathetic while professional at the same time. I would definitely recommend her if you go.

I would NOT go to the 5th Avenue animal hospital on 15th and 5th in the city - we took our cat there and they were very unprofessional and disorganized. They sent him home with no cone and said he was fine while he clearly wasn't. They also charged us for all sorts of tests told them had already been done - this place is bad news!

PS To the mgt of Hamilton Inn.

Seriously - do a taste test on your food - particularly your wings. Go buy some frozen microwaveable Tyson buffalo wings at the local Shoprite or A&P. The Tyson wings get a 6 out of 10 for me compared to the 1 or 2 out of ten for the Hamilton wings.

In fact, fresh chicken wings are so cheap - you could probably hand out free fresh wings to customers and still make a profit on the drinks. Or stick with your $7 charge on your menu - I'd bet noone orders them twice.

What are you talking about? Must have had a bad batch because I get their wings at least twice a week an they're awesome! I especially recommend them in tandem with their football specials - $3 craft beers + $4 buffalo wings = me very happy!

I've heard this as well - there's not enough of an arts scene in JC to keep something like this alive. The Creative Grove and associated Arts movements are great but there's just too much bureaucracy to get anything off the ground here.

There is a stop sign on the corner of Third west of Erie regulating the flow of traffic traveling on 3rd. St.

Heights,

yes there is a stop sign on 3rd but that doesn't prevent accidents or racing along Erie. That corner needs to be a four-way stop. There's a crossing guard there already every morning - might as well make it a permanent stop

Car Accident on 3rd & Erie - - Be Careful!

Just saw a car slide off the road, jump the curve and hit the fence on the corner of 3rd and Erie - The cops are trying to help the driver (old lady) dislodge the car from the fence and clear it out.

Be caerful if you're out walking - the roads are slick!

And when are they going to figure out that a $38 stop sign on 3rd & Eire would save thousands in prevented accidents like this one?

Just had lunch there today - a solid sandwich - everything tasted fresh and it was definitely filling! I got the 'grove' which included their fresh mozzarella which was excellent - looking forward to trying their signature sandwich next time - Could see this place being a great site for comedy shows/music as well...

Agreed - and when did Erie st. become the drag racing capital of JC? Why do people need to rev their motorcycles at 1AM? Just to show us all how cool you are for having a glass-pack muffler?

Maybe once Fulop is elected in 2013 we can get a stop sign somewhere on Erie...

We go here fairly often and it's getting better everytime. A few items to note in case the owners are reading:

-Need to have A/C on HIGH on hot days!
-Ensure staff knows all specials and menu items
-keep the music down so people can still have a conversation (love the DJ tho - he's great).

Highly recommend this place and yes they do have agreat beer selection.
