I believe one of the owners is involved in opening up a new restaurant called Frankie's at Charles and Co.

They were painting over the signage yesterday afternoon. I wonder if something new is coming in.

they had decent bloody marys, but that wasn't the draw for me. the shrimp n' grits kept me coming back, and they didn't have to pay a fortune for a license to serve that. RIP Grove Kitchen.

It is indeed super disappointing. It was a great restaurant, and I used to go there often. Too bad it is now (apparently) gone for good. Hopefully someone else can take over the space and bring us something great again. The food was always on point, and the service was equally good.
The only thing I would add to this conversation is that, as with Thirty Acres, this place went OOB after they got their liquor license. I get that alcohol sales can be a huge revenue source for restaurants, but it seems that recouping the costs of getting a liquor license is hard. Also, restaurants would be well advised to serve good beers and wines if they are going to get a liquor license. The stuff served at The Kitchen was marginally decent. Once BYOB came to an end there, I was hard pressed to find a decent wine or beer in their list worth paying for it, or memorable enough to try and remember it for purchasing on my own.

I read that the chefs got into a fight with the people that run the place, and all the chefs left. I guess the owners still haven't been able to find new chefs.

Anyone know if The Kitchen at Grove Station will be reopening? They closed at the end of December and posted to Instagram they'd be reopening. It's been almost two months, is it safe to assume it's not opening back up?

There was a windbreak / vestibule covering from the bottom of the steps up to the door last time I was there (~2 weeks back) guess they got given the green light for it
Also I asked about the liquor license and it's coming soon- gonna be a small bar to the left of the pastry glass thing And they are going to do a chefs tasting early evening at the place the dishes are placed for the servers (The pass I think it is called) - I raised my eyebrows as it always seems busy there - and the Chef said early evening so everyone wins!

The food is pretty good, but the plating and presentation are lacking. Satis is just as good, if not better, and they make their food look great, and provide a much better value.
I had the duck with braised cabbage, and while pretty good, the presentation was literally just sliced duck breast and a pile of cabbage on a plate. On the other hand, that are fantastic as a coffee shop in the morning. The barrasita and baked goods are excellent.

Stopped by here the day of the 'blizzard', just to check it out. The interior is awesomely decorated! People seemed to be enjoying their food, and it was warm and cozy. Will be back to try out the food.

I've been told that Kitchen needs building approval for the wind vestibule as they don't own the spot...and they keep asking....

The lack of wind barrier has been an issue since November and has been pointed out as a problem on several occasions. I'm amazed they've done nothing about this yet.

Decided to give this place a try last Saturday. At first I was a bit thrown off by the location. Entrance is on the Marin side of the large office building on the corner of Marin and Columbus. Place was packed. We took the only available table right by the entrance, which kind of sucked because every time the door opened (which was a lot), a huge gust of wind came in. I have to assume they'll put some sort of wind barrier there. Keep this in mind if sitting in the 2-3 tables near the entrance.
This place is BYO, and the food and staff were excellent. We shared two apps: the scallop crudo, which was decent, and the celery root veloute, which was excellent. A little too much paprika on the crudo overpowered the dish but it was overall good. I had the short rib for my main dish and it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Wife had the duck confit gnocchi which was also excellent. Will definitely be back.

Another delicious meal. The Autumn salad, duck confit gnocchi, and duck breast with cabbage. I'm sold.

Love this place! Went for brunch, and had some great steak and eggs. Service is still working out the kinks, but the food is very good.
The only complaint is that they need a curtain or outside door system when it's cold out. Every time people come in, a massive freezing wind comes in with them. Other than that, what a great use of the space!

Definitely kid-friendly. Have taken our 4-yr-old with us to breakfast and lunch, numerous times. Have also seen other young children eating there with their families. Never an issue.

Seems a few of you are bringing your kids? Would you say it's kid-friendly? We have a 3-year old who's great in restaurants, especially if we aim for 6 PM or so.
