Re: TALDE JERSEY CITY

It's really sad to hear Talde might be closing. I've been there 7-8 times, once coming for my wedding anniversary, and up until this last time it was really phenomenal. Yes, it was expensive, but the food was amazing and the service was impeccable.

But this last time was a disaster. Our server went MIA for 45 minutes, we ordered white wine from the manager and they didn't have the bottle we ordered but instead brought over a different bottle, that same bottle they served us was completely warm and unchilled, then the food came out and it was ice cold...and this was a $200 dinner.

I figured it was just an off night, but if they're closing, then this makes sense. Really sad. I agree with the comments its a high-profile restaurant. A lot of people saw Talde as part of the growing renaissance in downtown JC. If it closes, it'll make them re-think this boom is really happening or not.

Anyone that promotes and helps bring positive awareness to JC is great in my book. I read her blog and enjoy it. I've interacted with her and she's been lovely.

If you don't like her blog, don't read it. No point in tearing her down while she's doing something positive for the community.

Madame Claude. It's BYOB and you can have an amazing, romantic dinner for under $100. It's low lighting and candlelit french cuisine. Doesn't get more romantic than that!

Anyone know if The Kitchen at Grove Station will be reopening? They closed at the end of December and posted to Instagram they'd be reopening. It's been almost two months, is it safe to assume it's not opening back up?

Also on 5th. The jackhammers are RIGHT outside my window, and today they started up at 6:50am. I wouldn't mind it if they started at 9am, but seriously, jackhammers before 7am?

Chariot Auto Repair on Coles & 5th Street is great! Really great guy, always available and does not overcharge. I've brought my car in for three things and they've been very reliable every time.

Brunch is best in JC bc of all of the BYOB spots. So my favorites are:

Kitchen @ Grove Station

Sam AM

Beechwood Cafe

Madame Claude

Wow. None of you have ever worked in a restaurant, huh? It's opening night, they don't want the place to come crashing down and people run to Yelp writing how horrible it is. Give them a break.

Just look at the top five:

1) Cincinnati, OH
2) Omaha, NE
3) Scottsdale, AZ
4) Tampa , FL
5) Boise, ID

This list is obvious total clickbait (albeit one that worked, we all looked at it didn't we?).

Newark Avenue Pedestrian Plaza -- Reopening?

Hi All,

I just moved to JC in October and love it. I saw there used to be a Pedestrian Plaza along Newark Avenue, and now it's closed. Does anyone know if it's reopening? Or was it just a test and they're not going to continue it? Thanks everyone!
