A storm like that only helps the dive appearance!

Taqueria's yelp page notes a Feb 15 re-opening... http://www.yelp.com/biz/taqueria-downtown-jersey-city

It was open last Thursday night (yea!), but not on New Year's Eve (boo!). Terry said the water made it up to the bar.

So is the Cicada back open after Sandy? I saw the lights on and it looked open.

cabeza? that's bold. I'm glad taqueria is up and running. I decided to check them out a few days ago (sans the vegetarian wife...sorry taqueria, but you are not veg friendly) and it looked pretty bad.

The Paulus Hook restaurants (lighthorse, Amelia's, Satis, etc) are all up and running. Lighthorse told me they never even lost power.

Taqueria Downtown is aiming for the second week of December to re-open. We'll have full liquor with Margaritas, Micheladas, Sangria, etc...we will also be adding suadero, and cabeza to our taco list...oh and chips and guacamole too. Sit on it Sandy!!!!!!

Taqueria has a sign in their window saying that they'll re-open in mid-December. Their other location is in the East Village.

I tried Taqueria Viva Mexico the other night and it was fair, nothing compared to Taqueria. Viva's pork tacos were eh, but the steak tacos were decent.

Anyone who wishes someone else ill will after this, regardless of their opinions of JClist posts, needs to have a long, serious talk with themselves.

We tried Taqueria Viva Mexico Saturday, and the food was delicious! The staff was also incredibly polite. If you haven't been there yet give them a try.

I hope the rest of the businesses can all ope back up soon. A shame about Edward's, it is one of my favorite restaurants here in JC.

I won't get into this to much, but the doubters Like the two digging at the Taqueria. You wish you have half the balls he has. He will be open and thriving again. Brooklyn Bull. Hopefully the storm didn't effect you financially, or, maybe people who know you hoped it did !

Had a fabulous meal at Satis on Saturday. The gnocchi are to die for. I hear that Taqueria will reopen in three weeks. Lighthouse has stayed open.

How are other restaurants in Paulus Hook doing?

Satis and Lighthorse, for instance?

I saw a bunch of guys in the Taqueria patio this morning and some kitchen equipment was out there too. Looks like maybe they are cleaning up and repairing.

I believe they called Jersey Cityians classless.

No way they would compete with the taquerias in Brooklyn. Its an over saturated market.

Please, no, I need my tacos!!!

I hope none of the businesses hit by Sandy are ultimately forced to close - and have been doing my part by eating out a lot lately. ;) First b/c we had no power, and then b/c we had no food...

On the tacos front, Taqueria Viva Mexico Kitchen Cafe on Morris got their power back the day before yesterday and started serving food again yesterday. I've been very pleased with their tacos and (sorry other Taqueria!) they deliver. The owners are super nice and I'm sure they could use the business after not being able to operate for a week+.

(Again, I'm not wishing ill to any of the businesses that are still closed and I hope Taqueria is able to reopen soon.)

Add Tommy 2 Scoops to the list of places hit hard -- they suffered a lot of damage last year, too. They just added that addition on the back and it's probably going to have to be redone.

Some of you probably already know this I saw them cleaning out Edible Arrangements on Grand at Liberty Harbor today. I guess the Day Spa, Cleaners, and Restaurant are in the same boat??

Why would they design those places below street level? Looks cool old school JC but you would figure they would have water problems even with minor rain storms.

Speaking of Edwards I saw an apartment for rent sign on a row house next door to it. Wasn?t there before the storm maybe someone gave up??

OLC School (Grand & Marin) was totally swamped. They're going to need help to get the place back in shape for the kids.

Sounds like my building :-/ It's a pity. I've only been there once but it's a fun place. The good thing is that it's a pretty sparse place with only benches and such, so hopefully they didn't lose much.
