Given our mayor, I'd bet these ribbon cuttings are way more likely at places where the event will involve alcohol or free pizza.

Haha, because if I was a business like Atomic Wings a few years back, I would use my ribbon cutting ceremony to punch Healy and his cronies in the face!

Congrats Aaron! I used to frequent the original Two Boots and their Pioneer Theater showing indie films 25 years ago in the East Village. Glad they're here.

I saw many I know in JC there yesterday, had a White Pizza slice(which was free) with Passion Fruit Fizzy Lizzy, a local fruit beverage company located on Wayne St(office) . While I like to spread the love around so long as I can get thin slice, Two Boots here joins my fav list!.

Congats and welcome to the neighborhood. Had a slice at the soft opening and it was good quality. Have to confess that while I was looking at Stringers pics I caught myself trying to see if the Mayor was using a ton of pepper on his slice or if there was a thick brown envelope around anywhere.

One of my favorite slices in Manhattan.

It is a little different than your typical $1 slice... but it is fantastic.

There is one in Grand Central and one on 7th in the west village...

Two Boots (under construction) is collecting a bunch of artifacts to be permanently encased in its clear epoxy counter top. Little non-valuable tchotchkes like cards, ticket stubs, programs, souvenirs - anything that is small and interesting - are wanted. Things related to JC are particularly welcome. A free slice to anyone whose item is selected! If you've got something, shoot an email to twobootsjc@gmail.com.

I am quite often there in Brooklyn. A Two Boots here is the best option here after Patsy's, this is absolutely great.

Their new V is for Vegan pizza is delish. I wish other pizza parlors would adopt vegan cheese pies. Will be totally grateful for this!

Merry Christmas to me!

I love Two Boots. I go to the one in Grand Central. I think the crust is semolina. It's delicious and not thick. I hope they eventually add a permanent theater component like the one depicted in the photos above showing indie films. I've said it a million times before, but that lower part of Newark -- below the clock -- needs to be closed to vehicular traffic, cordoned off with potted plants like Horace Greeley Park or the pedestrian park/sitting area at Times Square and made into a ramblas. Restauranteurs like LITM, Sawadee, Skinner's Loft, Two Boots, etc. could then have umbrella tables on sidewalk and street in the warmer. They could even project movies onto one of the buildings on a scrim like the lower east side pop up project.

I'm definitely open minded to it, if it truly is a fusion type of pizza joint and doesn't pretend to be an authentic type of place. I love Louisiana's food! And best of all, it's additional retail/dining on Newark Ave.

Are the ones in Manhattan typically open late night? Perhaps a better comparison would be the one in Brooklyn - do they stay open fairly late? Late night food options are always appreciated. (FYI, I just found out that the Dunkin Donuts at Grove Plaza is now 24 hours, at least on weekends).

TWO BOOTS! Kinda expensive but it's a legit place, and that stretch of Newark Ave really needs to fill up the space that the dollar stores have left empty.

It's "Two Boots" as in Italy and Lousiana. So it's not traditional pizza -- it's supposed to have a cajun twist. They're pretty tasty and I'm glad they're opening up here!

i believe it is cornmeal

it's good for something different, but not really "traditional". lot's of wacky combinations.

Will def hit it when the mood strikes.

Cornmeal or Semolina?

Not sure. Most blogs refer to it as cornmeal, but I couldn't say.

Looking forward to picking up a slice of the bayou beast

As a traditionalist; probably.... but their pizza is still delicious. They're not your typical parlor slice, they use a lot of corn-meal on the crust, and their sauce is a little spicy.

I am very happy about having them in the neighborhood.

What Jako said -- but I love thier crust and their cheese and I am picky!

They have 7 locations in Manhattan 1 in Brooklyn and a few elsewhere -- their Pizza gets 4 Stars on YELP from 160 reviews for their East Village - Alphabet City location:

http://www.yelp.com/biz/two-boots-pizza-new-york

www.twoboots.com

They also have a great little DVD store that has really hard to find things -- the Village Voice said it was the best in NYC -- with our cheaper rents maybe they will move that over...

So, this place is a chain?

As a pizza traditionalist, will I be disappointed?

All their locations have great pizza -- and when they had their little Pioneer Theater - they had a great short film fest for filmmakers on Sundays.

Fantastic addition to the neighborhood. A really fun, tasty place. I've been lucky enough to work near a Two Boots in the past.

That is great news!

Maybe long term they would reopen their nice little Two Boots Pioneer Theater here!
