Re: Assault on Wayne Street (by that little park?)

News to me. I live on that block, with a view of that park, and I did not see (or hear) an ambulance that night. I didn't see anything in the paper about it either.

Wow: I actually know who that kid is from growing up in Mercer County. I hope he gets home safe. Any idea what part of JC he was in when he went missing?

Does anyone know what happened at that little park over Thanksgiving? I was out of town, and when I got back on Saturday, there was shredded paper EVERYWHERE. It was covering about a quarter of the back park of the park and the basketball court.

Fantastic addition to the neighborhood. A really fun, tasty place. I've been lucky enough to work near a Two Boots in the past.

I live nearby, and I've never had a problem there, but like any urban area you'll need to keep your eyes open. A lot of kids from the nieghborhood and nearby like to hang out at that park in big groups, which intimidates some people, but I've found them to be mostly harmless. Also, it can get pretty noisy around the park, if that's something that bothers you (people playing music from their cars, portable stereos).

This is kind of odd. I was in front of that park at about 9:50 and didn't see a thing.

Re: Affordable 1 bedroom near Grove PATH? Is it possible?

I've moved around the Grove Street area a few times over the past few years, and what you're looking for is certainly available, but you've got to act fast. You probably know the drill from living in Brooklyn: check out craigslist every day (both the North Jersey version and the NYC version), and when something comes up, call the number on the ad immediately. Otherwise the apartment will be spoken for within a matter of a day or two. Don't even bother going to the realtors on Grove Street: everyone I know who has tried to use them to find a cheap 1-bedroom gets ignored because they make almost no money working with you. All in all, I'd say anything within a ten minute walk of the PATH train is fairly safe. Good luck!

Just to be clear: LHS and JC Animal Control are NOT one in the same. r_pinkowitz was good enough to provide the following informaiton in another thread. Considering that this act took place "this week," that implies that you should be frustrated with Animal Control and not Liberty Humane.

Mon-Fri: 8:00am to 4pm (non holiday or furlough)
CALL: 201-547-4888 and they will dispatch a Jersey City Animal Control Officer for any animal related complaint.

Mon- Fri: 4pm to 11pm (non holiday or furlough)
(Jersey City Animal Control 2nd shift)
CALL: 201-547-5477 and they will dispatch a Jersey City Animal Control Officer for any animal related complaint.

After-hours calls 11pm to 8am Monday -Friday (non holiday or furlough) CALL: 201-547-5477 and they will dispatch a Jersey City Animal Control Officer for animal related emergencies only.

WEEKENDS, CITY HOLIDAYS AND FURLOUGH DAYS ARE COVERED BY: Liberty Humane Society (LHS) is an outside agency contracted to provide animal control-services for The of City of Jersey City on all weekends, holidays and furloughs only. They are not permitted to take any calls outside of their contractual agreement.

Any calls outside of these hours (WEEKENDS, CITY HOLIDAYS AND FURLOUGH DAYS) are covered by the City of Jersey City Animal Control Officers only.

I found it to be a better-than-your-average slice. A good option for a quick bite.

I don't have a ton of time, but I'm certainly interested (and I know others who might be as well). I'd also shoot a line to the folks at the Jersey City Food Coop: I think there's been some talk there about starting community gardens.
