I have hated Jersey coffee since I was spoiled by 9th Street and Grumpy in my college days.

Now, living in JC, its been a nightmare with the "coffee shops" serving ubiquitously and uniformly disgusting coffee and tongue scalding lattes.

Hoboken is no exception. (Empire is a joke.)

Speeding down Jersey Ave this AM, I stopped and reversed 2 blocks because of a sidewalk sign that read "fresh squeezed orange juice"... Sounded like a great idea before my morning run...

That is, until I walked in & was seduced by Dame's La Marzocco beast, with pressure guages on each of the three massive groupheads!!!

Their digital grinder and "gram" scale were confirmations of a serious cup of coffee... I made haste in ordering my latte and observed carefully.

Amazing beans + Proper tamping + proper milk frothing technique = a beautifully executed latte!! IN JC no less!!!!!!

$4 for the latte was well worth it. (better than wasting $2-3 on disgusting "coffee".)

Their attention to detail was unsurpassed. I am always inspired by business owners such as Dave and Bora(sp?) a great team; even more importantly... a TRANSCENDENT cup of coffee.

WELCOME! and THANK YOU!

Dames has great coffee (Counter Culture beans) plus a friendly staff. I will definitely be back...many times! I had their espresso and it was really great. I'm very happy to see a quality, no nonsense type coffee shop in the area. I also like what they have done with the space as well. Here's another good addition to the neighborhood! I wish them well.

I second that, consistent hours are a must, could get nowhere fast with Stockinette & their hours and crap coffee...all I ask is a decent coffee, normal and consistent hours and a semi-decent station to prep my coffee - you know, coffee house stuff.

Just went, excellent latte, second-ing everyone else here.

Current hours are 8-6 (except Monday). He said they'd be open 7-7 every day when they get going. I told him those hours are great, just stick to them (eg, Stockinette opening at 9:20...)

Just tried a latte there and it was excellent! Counter culture beans and farm fresh milk. This place is serious!

Tried my first latte there, and I'm pleased to report that it's the real deal, with a stiff head of milk foam and rich flavorful coffee underneath. I'll be a regular for sure, and I wish them the best of luck.

Just got my first Americano there. Excellent! I usually get coffee from La Colombe and RBC in Tribeca which both have great coffee although taste completely different. I would say the beans they had today taste more like RBC. Will be back for sure!

I live on 3rd so I could be in there a lot if good coffee, early hours open ( 7am-8am maybe, not slacker hours), bagels, croissants would be nice and enough room to sit down for all.

They were open yesterday (more like a soft opening) and serving up free drinks. I had an iced latte and it was very good. I think they intended to be actually open today.

Very nice place, very friendly, I wish them well.

It would be a miracle if the staff working at the shop are professional and are not on the phone or talking loudly with friends who are in the shop. That along with well made coffee that is not horribly overpriced and sensible hours, it has a chance of survival

+1

All I want is a coffee shop that recognizes coffee is the point and makes it half decent. A station that has cream, milk and all the things we need to put our coffee together that isn't a complete afterthought and consistent hours so when I go to support it, it's open when the hours on the door say it will be. That, my friends, is all I ask!

I wish them well. The location isn't the best, but if they have good coffee and real coffee shop hours (ie. open early), they should do just fine!

I am incredibly excited! If their hours are consistent and coffee is good, I'll be there once a week!

I checked out their website, and apparently they use Counter Culture beans, which will make them probably the best coffee in the area. I hope they grind and brew to order!

They sound like they're the best place for coffee in Hoboken - perhaps they should have opened on Newark Avenue for the foot traffic.

Here are the yelp reviews:

Hope this place has great coffee. Stockinette's was decent. Would have frequented the place more except for the fact that every time we went there, we could never get a seat because they were taken up by people with laptops and bags.
