I hate to say it, but, I would suggest that we prepare ourselves for pleas of innocent based on entrapment.

and, I agree that this seems kind of big now, but, probly won't change the big picture here in Hudson County... unless #4 is Healy... but even so, I mean, what happened after the Governor of NY State went down? We need a wholesale cultural change in our "leaders" to affect any real change. Not to mention the apathy of the voters... Healy was elected by how many votes?

Although, while it may not be central, I do have to say that I'm intrigued by the underground kidney trading aspect of this. Freakin sick, and possibly something that could garner national attention... at least until that new reality show about the fine artists airs... (did anyone here audition?)... or, the Sopranos movie hits the big screen... whichever comes first.

Did anyone notice Mayor Healy had a huge band aid on his nose and a cut (and/or Herpie/Healy sore) on his lower lip on channel 7 news.

I am going with Healy Sore. That makes more sense.

Client # 9= Spitzer.

JC official 4= Healy

Oh maybe he fell of his stoop.

Time to go fella

I believe the deputy mayor is seen handcuffed in this clip.

Just saw it on Brian Williams. Couldn't find the clip though.

This place has been corrupt for far to many years. New Jersey it self i beleive has over 97 corruption cases ( Since 2002 I believe, but dont quote me on that), Hudson county is the foundation block ( IMO). I do not think we will see a legit new jersey let alone hudson county gov't in our life time. After all History does have a tendency to repeat itself. What happened today seems like a repeat of an old film.

What a great day... Obama had a nice quote about the police doing their job in Cambridge MA ; can\'t wait to hear his opinion of the NJ Federal Prosecutor who took these bums down.

And when will all the photos of Camarrano / Healy with Obama, Corizine, Menendez and Lautenberg start turning up... it will be mean spirited, but fun... call it the politics of \"self-destruction\"

The photo in the Jersey Journal of Hoboken Mayor P.C. with those characters at Hoboken Train Station over the weekend struck me as a Perp Lineup... never more true than today...

The city is shotup by street thugs, police officers gunned down and that morning Healy is seeking a photo op and words of praise with Crorizine and President...

Change you can see.... Healy removed crime from the streets and put it back in City Hall where it belongs...

What an amazing day... Meet the new boss.

I'd have to believe the defendants will talk to cut a deal, to shorten their jail stay. Then if Healy is named, we force him to resign.

Remember JC Official 4's campaign commercial in a luncheonette about his friend "with the asparagus"? I finally get it now.

Makes one wonder if some pols were letting crime fester so as to hold down property values thereby letting developers swoop in and buy up at cheap prices. Just sayin'.

There is a reason this is all happening while we are mourning the death of a police officer. Cream rises to the top and this bunch sank to the very bottom for good.

This is better that the stimulas package. I pray they lose their jobs, their homes, their pensions, their husband, their wife and anything else they hold sacred. They make me sick.

Especially Vega. You are nothing but an arrogant POS. Go to jail.

I am so happy.

? Guy Catrillo, 54, of Jersey City, NJ, charged with attempted extortion under color of official right
? Louis Manzo, 54, of Jersey City, NJ, charged with conspiracy to commit extortion under color of official right
? L. Harvey Smith, 60, of Jersey City, NJ, charged with conspiracy to commit extortion under color of official right
? Mariano Vega, 59, of Jersey City, NJ, charged with conspiracy to commit extortion under color of official right

I think they missed a few people, but it's a start.

Anyone see the connection between all of these?

Healy is most certainly in there. No way all of this is happening around him with him at the top of the food chain and he gets nothing.

Only problem is, with this news, a small group of people with one thumb in the dam and the other up their rear while they sit waiting for the feds to bust their door down, while another small group celebrates christmas in july, and the vast majority of JC residents will ask who, what, why and when maybe 10 months from now, if ever.

I sincerely hope the Feds clean house since the local electorate seems to be no better than brainless sheep (no offense to sheep intended).

Ok. Assuming Healy gets dragged into this. How do we go about getting Steven Fulop in the Mayor's office and reverse all the recent votes that the council did? Say, the Crystal Point tax abatement among others.

So if Vega and the other JC types are convicted - will they lose their multiple pensions and their free cars? Might help balance the bloated budget a bit...

I look forward to see who gets arrested for conspiring to turn the other way if they weren't directly involved, or kick-backs to keep their mouth shut !

Lock the bums up and throw away the key. Let this just be the beginning. I think this is a great thing to have happened.

Two things and two things alone have upset me, the first of which motivated me to create an account and actually jump into the fray:

1.) Somebody irresponsibly asserting as fact that Leona Beldini was actually somebody she is not. (Which JRL has taken responsibility for, thank you).

2.) That this has the unfortunate consequence of all but guaranteeing Christie's election to governor. Which sucks.

I wish this could have been done in such a way as to not have partisan, political fallout for the upcoming governor's race. Other than that, based on the veracity of the criminal complaints I've read, I couldn't be happier that betrayers of the public trust are being brought to justice.

I guess that's a little too difficult a concept for some all-or-nothing dogs with a bone to grasp.

Why shouldn't Christie take credit for an investigation he began? I hardly think the arrests of most of this crowd was subject to too much manipulation since the elections just ended (Hoboken approx 30 days ago) and they probably knew that once they arrested anyone their informant would be burned (hence the mass arrests). At least Christie has done something for this state, and if he uses the governorship to further clean up our politics, I'm all for it.

Corzine got elected (initially to the senate) based on his "experience" at Goldman, and their unprecedented success during the real estate bubble. So you could argue he had little actual effect on GS's results. How is this different?

Hard to read the tea leaves. Since it's Beldini doing it, I guess that lends itself to it being him, but at the same time, this was what, Feb? Wasn't JH running away in the polls, big time, at that point? So who was the opponent that they needed to "get to know"? Was it Manzo?

What site has the indictments- If you look at Manzo's and see the meetings happened AFTER Feb 12th, it doesn't tell you much, but if it is BEFORE Feb 12th, #4 probably isn't Healy, because that's the only guy I can think of that would be the "opponent" and he would have already met him- No reason for anyone to be telling him that a meeting should be arranged.

If that made sense.

Remember how Vega put up an Oscar worthy quote around the Crystal Point abatement - something to the effect of "at first I was against the abatement, but upon further investigation we need to do this - what would it say about JC if we have defaulted properties downtown".

I'm sure he thought real hard about doing the right thing or to just vote along with Team Healy....

How much is bail for these clowns and anyone with legal knowledge think these cases are pretty iron clad??

I think you are so correct about Healy being "JC Official 4."

He was the only one not willing to take cash with his own hands for fear of "snakes.". Rather, he had it filtered through others.

Everyone here should click on Beldini's name at the bottom of the article here:

I know I am cynical about politics/politicians but I believe this happens everywhere. It is too bad because Jersey City and Secaucus were following Hoboken with revitalization and good real estate values (considering the market nationally). Hey, maybe the NYC real estate folk started rumors to get an investigation
