So some Fulop supporter gets access to some private (!?) email that said untrue things about Fulop, and you are trying to spin the Fulop campaign debunking these things into something negative?

I quote:
"Finally, yesterday morning, vocal and key volunteers to the Catrillo campaign started sending out emails (to addresses from community distribution email lists) and letters full of
misinformation and exaggeration."

What really happened is a Catrillo supporter sent a personal email to a few individuals (NOT A COMMUNITY DISTRIBUTION LIST) who asked; why the support for Guy. A Fulop supporter ignorantly, forwarded the email to the campaign.
This sent naive, mean-spirited, self-righteous individuals into turmoil. They made this a public forum by publishing the issues on the website.
Do you think this is an violation of privacy, maybe? Open, honest, government.......hmmmmm.
Who cares about a personal email. Are you joking????
The Junior League has arrived! This feels like a student government election. Manzo and Healy must be laughing their heads off.

Brava Shelley! The issues are what matter, not the petty hackish crap that passes for local politics. If Catrillo had something of value to offer, he'd be talking about it rather than slinging mud. Catrillo seems like a nice person who means well but is in way over his head. Despite his claims to the contrary, you can't help but know he'd be a Healy rubber stamp waiting to happen. The couple of times I've spoken with him he hasn't been able to articulate any substantive differences between him and the mayor.

The high road is the honorable road. Save the bombs for where they are really needed. Steve definitely has my vote.

Early on, we decided NOT to engage in negative campaigning, and we have kept to that decision. We have deliberately endeavored to run a positive campaign, stay focused on the issues, and address the future of Jersey City. We are proud of what Steve has done and excited about what he could
yet do for the residents of Ward E.

In the past two weeks, Team Healy?s candidate, Guy Catrillo, has run two full-page negative ads about Steve in the Hudson Reporter. We chose not to retaliate with a similarly negative attack ad because, again, we want to avoid mudslinging and, instead, focus on the issues that are important to
the Ward. This same advertisement was used as part of many of the invitations their campaign distributed during group discussions in which they participated downtown. Finally, yesterday morning, vocal and key volunteers to the Catrillo campaign started sending out emails (to addresses from community distribution email lists) and letters full of
misinformation and exaggeration.

As campaign manager, I decided that we would again not retaliate with attack ads; rather, we have posted a response to the misinformation on our Web site, presenting the facts and providing reference points for you to examine. If you wish to assess the rumors and determine the truth, please
click on the link below.

[http://www.stevenfulop.com/factcheck] www.stevenfulop.com/factcheck

We are focused on the positive for Ward E and will seek to continue that positive progress for the next four years

Sincerely,

Shelley Skinner
Campaign Manager
Fulop 2009

Kudos to Steven Fulop from me too. I'm so glad I live in his ward and I think I'd be long moved out of J.C. if I didn't. He seems to be the only one on city council who gives a damn and works hard, and it seems the other city council members practically resent him for that. Imagine that - somebody actually doing their job on the city council, and doing it well!

Now if only he had enough clout to run for mayor and unseat that current joke of a mayor we have who has somehow raised, in campaign funds, about 25 times what the job actually pays annually. Obama spent far less than McCain and he won - can't we replicate the same miracle in Jersey City?

Steven Fulop is a great councilman and hopefully the Heights (where I live) will get someone as good come May 12th.

Bump till May 12th.It does seem to be very low key out in the streets. If signs could vote it would be Healy in a landslide but no
one had more signs than Manzo in 2004 and we all know what happened to him.

12 Days till round two for some.

My only issue with Fulop is that he decided against running for Mayor. Maybe it's too soon, but i was hopeful.

Fulop has done a great job trying to change the way things are done here against well-entrenched, established hacks.

As for Catrillo, keep in mind he was the genius that released poultry pigeons who couldn't fly at the JC 9/11 ceremony back in 2002.

I agree! Steve is not in my ward and he has been involved in Ward F issues. I am just waiting and hoping that he becomes mayor the next time around. Ward F needs a "Steve" !

We do hope that once Steve is back in that Ward E works with us to bring Ward F up to par. It will help all of us! We are neighbors. thank you

Downtown needs to VOTE STEVE FULOP!!

I can tell you that during Steve Fulop's term as Ward E Councilman, he has always responded to my emails and phone calls even when I disagreed with him or pointedly asked him to clarify where he stood on an issue. Equally so, I've been at neighborhood meetings, when only Steve Fulop was there with myself and a few others, and even outside his Ward in Black Churches to speak about crime and housing along with Viola Richardson, and no other council person attended .

I'm proud to campaign, for a return of Steve Fulop for Ward E Council and Dan Levin as Mayor, and Andrew Hubsch and Emilio Delia for Council Persons At Large.

From what I've read around the boards and other sites he seems like a standup guy (I just moved here) so I'll be voting for him.

It?s not expedient for me to engage in political favoritism because I tend to get more accomplished for our community by being pragmatic in my leanings, but I would like to endorse Steve Fulop for our Ward E councilman based on his total engagement in our community groups and concern for our specific issues.

As personable as Guy is and dedicated to many good causes, it?s Steve that has been the consistent voice on the council reflecting matters that have come out of our individual needs downtown. In my 25 years in Jersey City, no one on the council has worked so tirelessly, at any hour, for us.

For those of like-mindedness, you must get out and vote. My concern is that a straight Healy ticket will occur and Steve?s balancing voice will be silenced.

I'd also like to mention Steve Fulop returns phone calls and emails. I'm not even in Steve's ward and he reached out to me about a problem we were having with the Taxi's in Journal Square, he put me in contact with people that can help and we got some of the issue resolved. Steve does go to bat for people and works hard. Thanks for your help Steve.

This is the only council person in the last Four years who has stood up and shined a light on every thing wrong with City Hall.

Is he a politician ,Yes who else would put them selves through such bullshit.

When you look up at that Row of just complete and other Hacks
on the city Council,i'll take the ambitious young guy who is willing to fight them every step of the way.

Been in hudson County for fifty years and i like this kid who breaks the balls of City Hall.

Can anyone tell us why we would want to change from Fulop to
1.Cattrillo- a guy on the public payroll since his brother was an assembleman.Healy Rubber stamp.
2.Vazquez-also on the city payroll.

This is very difficult for me because I adore Guy Catrillo and I would almost do anything for him. He is really the nicest person in town.

But I have been working with Steven Fulop on so many things even before he was elected. He is always working for us on a legislative level. Our neighborhood watch really wanted the cameras. The councilman found a way to have developments require them within months of meeting us. The councilman knew I volunteered with JC Filipino-American teens. He would attend our events to support the kids whether there were 2 kids or 300 kids. He was there.

I remember his first few months with the "i want the garbage bins" residents vs. "i don't want the garbage bins" residents. I saw him struggle with that one. We now know that it is an unending dance since it's an ever changing numbers game -- who ever has the most numbers wins.

When Brightmoments and others wanted to really look into Guardian Angels being in our neighborhood, other officials shied away but Fulop was there. When I needed support as I fought 2 cases in court on behalf of the community, Fulop wrote letters and made phone calls even though the last case was in the wrong court. I wanted legislation on shopping carts....a very boring request while he was working on *bling* legislation for double dipping and no pay to play.

When another resident wanted to get lighting, he looked into it with her and got her a free street lamp installed. Again...there's no *bling* in a street lamp installation but it's important to us. He attends our neighborhood meetings even when he has to tell us that there's no movement on our asks. He's been supportive of our request for green space and for our demands to stop the tax abatement "whores" in downtown.

And today, a resident from Ward F told me how Fulop was helping her (a former volunteer) on working on animal control accountability. I was like...wow...he's working for her and she's not even his constituent.

I am sure I am missing all the other times the Councilman has helped me....oh here's another one...how about the time he created an NJCU Sociology internship for my classmate! It just wasn't a boring internship but one where my classmate was in charge of her own event to help people in need. I was almost jealous that I didn't have the internship.

The point is...the man works hard and is smart. He knows how to find solutions and be up to date with legislative think tanks. Oh...and here's my transition to a Mayor. Dan Levin is a think tank.

Agreed. Steve seems to believe that government is here to help the citizens, not line the pockets of those in government.

Any thoughts on who to vote for Mayor? Love to get somebody who isn?t likely to be busted by the FBI.

Yes, no doubt about it Mr. Fulop has done more for this city then any other person in years. He may be the only person to ever win an election without the help of people buried in the cemetery. 4 more years for him!!!!
