Thanks. This is perfect.

Looking for a Dr to take a look at a couple dark spots I've noticed.
I used to have access to free melanoma screening but not anymore.

thanks

I second Tribeca Park Dermatology. I've been seeing Dr. Dolder there for almost two years now and her treatments completely cleared up my adult acne, which was pretty severe.

The office is just outside the WTC PATH so since I live downtown, travel-wise it's about the same time for me to go there as it would be to go to JSQ.

I couldn't be happier with the treatment I've received.

I second this one. I think it's the best derm in the area.

It's so true, OutOfHoboken. Dr. Khasak's office is a nightmare.

I'm stuck with him for now. He was my highly-recommended third opinion after misdiagnoses/treatment by my last two dermatologists (not in Jersey City). And my insurance isn?t too interested in my starting over with a fourth doctor.

So for now, I see Dr. Khasak. I block off 3 hours when I have an appointment, because that?s about how long it takes. There?s a sign in the waiting room that firmly reminds patients to be on time for their appointments. I?m not sure if it?s a joke or not.

When I say ?waiting room,? I?m referring to the main waiting room. There?s also an overflow room, and sometimes people even have to wait in the hall. If you?re in the overflow room or the hall, be warned: When they finally call your name, they are not going to do it loudly. You need to listen for it over the blaring TV and the screaming children. If you miss it, the staff will be sure to let you know that it?s all your fault.

Everyone on his staff is sick and tired of being inconvenienced by the patients. They make that pretty clear. I try to be as friendly as I can, and twice I?ve gotten one of them to laugh. But mostly they hate me and everyone else.

What I?ve come to like about the waiting room is that, after an hour or so, everyone in it sort of starts rooting for each other. You look around and roll your eyes at one another. People are genuinely happy for each other when they finally get called in. One lady patted me on the back and said, ?Good for you, honey! Good for you! You made it. I know it?s my turn any minute now!? It?s a sort of we?re-all-in-this-together vibe.

As a doctor, he IS competent and he IS helping me, and I appreciate that. But there must be other competent dermatologists too, so if you can avoid going there, do. It?s too late for me. Save yourselves.

Do not go to Dr. Khasak! He overbooks - I waited an hour and finally walked out when I found were still 4-5 people ahead of me. His office is dirty, and his staff is rude. Appts. are not respected - the office is run as a "first come first serve" walk-in clinic. I found the place so disgusting that I wouldn't feel comfortable letting his guy touch me anyway.

Dr. Began in Hoboken I liked Dr. Began very much. Didn't seem to enjoy the administrative aspects of her practice (then again, what doc does?), but she was a wizard dermatologist. Eyes like a hawk, fingertips like a safecracker. Alas, she has moved up to Montefiore in the Bronx. To give you an idea how highly I think of her, I've considered making the trek up there anyway.

Dr. Fox is very knowledgeable. He made my skin completely clear! He is a little rough around the edges and the office staff isn't exactly the nicest...but if he can help you, who cares???

I saw Dr.Dmitry Khasak more than a year ago. A very pleasant young fellow. His office is in Newport (above Kim's Video), not exactly in downtown JC. Office# (201) 626-4040, 100 Pavonia Ave. Suite 409. Good luck!

I highly recommend Dr. Khasak, very good, very pleasant young doc. The only downside is his office is very crowded at Newport, though I only had to wait 30 minutes so great! Also, my friend sees him in Bayonne where he sees people on Sundays. He also has a Park Avenue office in NYC.

I used to go to Dr. Began in Hoboken, and I liked her, but it's gotten impossible to make an appointment with her or even to have a prescription refilled over the phone. I've given up.

Any more opinions about Fishman & Fox or Katz & Noroff? Thanks...

I've been to Dr. Katz in JSQ. He was pretty good. I was only there once. There's a female dermatologist that he's partners with, Dr. Noroff.

Katz & Noroff
2954 John F Kennedy Blvd Fl 2
Jersey City, NJ 07306

They have several other offices in New Jersey too (Short Hills and Irvington).

It's two blocks up JFK from the Path station.

Good dermatologist in Soho:

Dr. Elias Michael
http://www.sohodhg.com/doctors.html

Not sure what his prices are, my insurance covers it. A lot of my co-workers also recommend him. He's really nice, and his staff is helpful. Might be worth a phone call even if you don't have insurance just to see what an exam will cost you.

However, she was one step ahead of her derm. She did try it ? but only on one side of her face. She returned to him a few weeks later, told him what she?d done, and asked him to guess which side had had the tip-top treatment. He guessed wrong.

Good luck.

Hi, does anyone know of a good cosmetic dermatologist that will not cost an arm and a leg?? I want to get either a chemical peel or some light dermabrasion to correct some discoloration and roughness from previous acne. I've looked at some places in Manhattan, but I'm wondering if there's a less expensive option on this side of the river. Looking for someone who knows what they're doing, since I'm very fair and have sensitive skin.

If it is not a big deal, try the Duane Reade walk-in clinic in Manhattan. It is $95. Skin condition is on the list.

My Japanese coworker said that his friends, who had no insurance, used to go to Chinatown because it was cheaper in Chinatown.

I would recommend Dr. Dina M. Began. I've been to her and feel she's very nice and professional.

She's got an office in Hoboken but I think she is in Jersey City one day a week across from the Staples/Modell's.

Call the Hoboken number to find out:
Telephone - (201) 795-0021

I also recommend Dr. Dina Began. She has a nice new office in Hoboken on Madison & 2nd but is no longer practicing in Jersey City.

Does anyone know of a good dermatologist that does not cost an arm and leg for a consultation?

I know my problem...just need a prescription. Currently not insured.

Any help appreciated. Also, if you can state the actual cost of the visit would be helpful. :)
