They are no better or worse than any other place.

Further up the Blvd in Union City is another car wash oil change place as well - Zap Lube or something.

Where can one get a fast (10 minute style) oil change in JC? Not looking for a place where I have to make an appointment, just one of those drive-up businesses.

I found a place online - Flash Lube on Summit Ave - are they any good?

2nd that, but maybe for form's sake we should revive the mechanix thread.

Sorry to go slightly off-topic and I saw your bump on a thread from almost 2 years ago. PDubs had a suggestion and iGreg was, well, his usual self and added no value to the neighborly discussion.

Change that -- Firestone Service has the same deal -- and I really like them - see $19.99 coupon on the web - click link below. They are very nice shop for oil & tires -- but I get others to do all other type of work - and I never bother with their free checklist of things they think I should do.

I've used Joe's Auto Electric for at least 10 years but they just recently moved down to the south end of Bayonne, so not handy.

Suggestions welcome-

(Definitely avoid Sears at all costs. Terrible work and not cheap)

Absolutely avoid Sears! I paid for Mobil 1 oil change two years ago, they used freaking conventional oil. I only realized when my engine started to seize up. I only change my oil once a year (since I drive so few miles a year) and it was a huge headache.

Was also a big fan of Joe's until they switched owners.

Now I use Flash Lube in the Heights. Haven't had a problem yet.

Epic is great, very professional - I've been using them for basic maintenance (oil changes, alignment, mounting tires, etc) the last few years.

Not sure if they're set up to do quickie on-demand oil changes all the time. I'd say call ahead - if they say they can get you in & out when you want to go, go for it.

Downtown - I'd say avoid Sears. They did an ok job with oil and battery change - but took ages.

The smaller shops I've used downtown like A&M Auto are great value - but take longer - typically next day. You're better off getting a full service - winterizing, tire rotation, oil and fluid changes, minor repairs.

Outside of downtown - haven't been there - but I've heard good things about Epic.

Looking for a local spot for an oil change. Preferably a 10-minute type of thing, but open to any recommendations.

I've been taking my car to this place for oil change in the past two years:

Flash Lube
Tel: (201) 222-1022
1026 Summit Ave
Jersey City, NJ 07307

I am pretty satisfied with their service and there is hardly ever a waiting line whenever I go.

There's a Castrol place on JFK Boulevard, in North Bergen, north of the Coach House/Paterson Plank Road. I've been going there for about 5 years.

I would not recommend Flash Lube as well. Same thing that happened to regulator happened to me. They did not put the cap on tight enough, leaked oil, went for a road trip, then had to get a whole new engine.

Dealer usually is the best option. I like the one on cityline. I forget the actual name but for around $30 you get an oil change, tire rotation, and a car wash. Just watch out they will sell you on everything. Just remember the dealer recommended maintenance periods for your tranny and engine flushes, etc.

I know this sounds really simple, but I haven't really found a good place to go. The old Jiffy Lube on 440 was great but they closed.

I started going to the Flores Car Wash place on Rt 440 / US1 & Sip Ave but they are always trying to sell you an engine flush / transmission flush or something and it gets annoying.

Does anyone have a place they'd recommend for a quick, cheap oil change?

Thanks in advance.
