Damn, you all make it sound like people won't go there because the word "knitting" is in front of "cafe".

I don't care if they happen to sell knitting supplies...the bottom line is that they have great coffee, scones, and cupcakes. It is a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

The one thing that bothered me most about moving to JC was the lack of a great italian deli. I tried Second Street for the first time on Wednesday...this place is amazing. Best meatball parm wedge (from Yonkers...i guess it's hero?) I have ever had. The pizza logs and ricotta pastry are amazing too. I loved it so much, I woke up this morning and walked right over there for a nice sausage parm breakfast.

based on the most recent comments, it appears molly is right...........

This is every new JC restaurant thread:
"I heard this place is opening." "Can't wait." "What's the menu going to be?" "Anyone know?" "Went there last night. AMAZING!" "Such a great addition to the neighborhood!" "Where is this place?" "Oh my God I'm going tomorrow!" "What are the hours?" "This place is so tasty. WE haven't had this since the last time WE were in (fill in blank)." "Oh my God I can't wait to try it!" "Where is this place?" "Tried it. A little expensive." "WE tried it last nite. Delivery. A little slow. And cold." "A little expensive." "Ordered delivery. Who are they trying to fool?" "This isn't food." "Service slow." "THERE'S NO ROOM FOR KIDS OR STROLLERS!" "Very expensive." "This place blows." "I heard this place closed." "Why?"

Definitely post of the year...I think Ox and Skinner's Loft are taking so long to open because they are afraid of the scathing reviews they are destined to receive on jclist.

If not..., well, I have used Synergy since I moved out of Hoboken (I dropped NYSC there the moment they dropped the parking coverage, as for NYSC Exchange Place, for parking/time forget it) but Synergy is pretty limited in terms of free weight/benchs/space. The $1000 beginner's fee for Brick Haus is quite ridiculous I agree - but it looks like someone is already paying for the city approval in whatever week !

I am not exactly sure what you mean by a $1000 beginner's fee. The one time initiation fee is $99, which any full service gym would charge (probably more) and the monthly fee is $69. NYSC charges much more than that, and most of them aren't all that nice.

Brick Haus will be offering free parking across the street and they did say it will be a secured lot (not sure how).

Also, I don't remember seeing a pool in the plans. They will have a full list of classes such as yoga, kickboxing, etc...

Me and my wife just joined the Brick Haus the other day. They are expecting it to open within 6-8 weeks and they gave us a virtual tour. All brand new equipment, nothing refurbished...all cardio machines have LCD TV's...they will also have a sauna and juice bar. Plus, the place is pretty huge. Synergy and Gold Coast are going to need some major updating to keep up. $69 per month is not bad for a high end gym with new equipment...I am sure Club H will be much more expensive.
